Jon’s 3 Autoflower - 3 Pounds Attempt Grow

Yes you’re right Bill, I personally deserve it. Lmao. I’ve only been suffering for around 25 years. I know people in Philly who have waited way way longer. Somehow the two World Series and one Super Bowl along with one NBA championship in one of America’s biggest markets ain’t getting it done. I loved the 2008 team, enough that it pissed me off to see Alex Rodriquez apologize to Ryan Howard for 2009 in the pregame the other night. But this team is way special and has an energy like I’ve never seen, and that was 14 years ago. Last night Harper homers to send them to the dance in the bottom of the eighth down 3-2 at the time. He’sgoing around the bases and hitting home plate and the whole country could read his lips as he’s screaming “This is MY f-ing house!” I’m sure you can reference similar Stanley Cup moments when those boys compete for the second greatest trophy in all of sports (sorry my Canadian friends, I’m a huge NHL fan, but it’s not bigger than the World Cup). Simply amazing. Molly went running from the room cuz I was screaming so much. Goosebumps.
That's freeken Awesome,
I'm so happy for you. :yahoo:

Day 93

This very small amount of amber you see is normally when I’d pull this plant. I’m going to let her go at least one more day, maybe two. Hoping to see some tighter curl in to the sea of orange hairs.

This one is a ton frostier and a ton denser than the last one. 680 watts is the main reason for this imho as the last one was grown under a significantly less powerful light. They got the same nutes and appear to be the same phenotype. The water has no affect on creating denser buds - but the light sure does.

Here’s some trichome and bud shots.

Good morning Jon, nice to check em out for a few more days! Wonder how the terps will be affected?
Hey @StoneOtter - thanks man! I’m sorry to be stupid but I don’t understand your question? How will the terps be affected by what?

Hi @Bill284, how you be Sensei? Your grow is beautiful. So jealous of the greenhouse. Lol. So I have a question for you. How’s my layering of perlite here? I feel the bottom layer of the smaller pot is about twice as thick as it should be and the very thin layer at the top part of the lower pot should be thicker. Can you please advise? I put the question here in case anyone else who layers like you has ever had the same question. Thanks Sensei!!

It’s actually the soil that’s too thick.
1” layers approximately with layers of perlite between.
So more layer less soil per layer.
Never too much perlite.
It gives air to the roots, so you can’t go wrong with lots of layers.
The more the better.

Day 94

Nope. Another day. Painfully close. Tomorrow. Trichomes won’t let me go past that for what I want from this plant. Wow. Never really realized how huge an advantage it is having grown a plant of the strain. I know exactly when I want to take her. This has become my very first “I will always be growing this” strain. It’s not like other autos, even other XXLs. Not only is it a massively yielding beast of a plant, it checks every other box too. I mean all of them. Even the easy trim box. I cannot find a downside to this strain. And she’s a plant that is super easy to grow and hard to screw up. I have yet to throw something at her that she hasn’t handled, and most of the time she laughs at me. You can feed her at very high levels in flower, the buds are rock hard and colorful, the smell is incredible….just whoa. It tastes like a dream and the thc is very high. She’s an up buzz all day and stokes the creativity bone hard. Ok strain love over. Here she is on her next to last day:

One might say, and rightfully so, aren’t you going to let those red hairs curl in more? I would maybe suggest that to someone. And normally I would. I am well tuned in to using several references beyond the trichomes, even under LED. They *look* like they can go longer. And sure - they can. But I like to accentuate as best I can what I believe the plant to be. For example, the Forbidden Runtz was an indica all the way. So I let her be an indica. I didn’t take her when all was white, I waited for more amber than I ever have. Around 15% at harvest. And I can barely smoke it. Not only is it extremely high in thc, it’s already a 70/30 indica. It makes me giggle like a little girl for half an hour with my dog, then I want to play - but I can’t. Instead I take a nap. I’ve done three tester hits of this weed and all three did the same thing. I have what I believe to be very high tolerance, and to me this is one hit weed. Literally.

So by the same token I want the Watermelon WeddingCake to be the sativa she is. I know the stats say she’s a hybrid. But I got the indica pheno last time (12.75 ounces jarred) and it behaved much like a sativa. So this one is going to be a sativa, and based on the buds I postulate that this is the sativa pheno. She gets taken at the first sign of amber and I’m way past that. I’m in 5% territory. Enough. For me. And those red hairs are not just on the surface.

Can you describe how they look to be sativa? I've always thought sativas didn't form much of a cola but rather more separated buds spread along the stem. Those look pretty full and dense to me.

Although, could just be 'cause of the 'Jon Treatment.' :hmmmm: Yours are not normal plants. No offense.

Well, @Azimuth - I’m comparing it to the last plant. It was trained the same way. Sure no water, but I don’t think that’s enough to account for the size difference. I say sativa on this one cuz compared to the last one, these ARE exactly as you describe. They didn’t grow all into one big bud as I have seen most of my indicas do. Each nug you see is separate and spread out, they just got so big it doesn’t appear that way. And the side branching was way different. This one shot many more branches, several of which I removed as we went. The buds on this one are different too - more pointed and denser by a mile individually. It looks like the White Widow would look if I traded them out. And she’s obviously a sativa or sativa pheno of the hybrid. So for those reasons mostly. The indica pheno would never have gotten this tall either.

So as usual I could well be wrong. Just giving you my take.

The sun
Down by you
Is a completely
Different hue!
Yeah in Florida the sun is made of 10 watt, 100% outdated LEDs. What’s your sun made of? Gasses and such? Elements? Fusion going on? Wish we had that kind here.

Trichs are unchanged since last check so I’m letting her go another day.

You gotta look at the trichs on the buds. The leaves are always going to amber before the buds. Here’s an bud shot and two trichomes shots. Note the huge difference in amber between the leaf and the bud.

Forbidden Runtz

Trim jail starts tomorrow, but the buds that represent the flarf zone - super small but legit buds, too small to make the jars - I trim them and smoke them to stay off the real buds while they cure. Those are easy to identify. Lol. Anything smaller than this is Trim Bin material. Noteworthy that this is the sum total of flarfy bud on the whole plant. Everything else will make the jars and that needs one more day.

I grant that this is a touch on the OCD side, but this is for me and these are real buds. Just tiny. And I don’t like to smoke dark green leaf.

Anyway here’s the flarf zone, including a shot of the jar for scale. It’s about half full. Maybe four or five grams if I counted it (we don’t).

GodDAMN this bud STINKS.
