Flying High With Hawk - 2024 Grow Journal

9/22/24
Rainy again today, but not anything like last night. Checked on the plants – still yellow leaves, but no storm damage! MUST set up the stakes / netting for support. Need to cut tree branches and bring out a small ladder to do this properly…

More rain yet again. Really hope this weather doesn’t lead to bud rot like last year. Hell, I started nearly 1.5 months earlier this year than last year to try to avoid those issues!

Rain and More rain. Leaves still look bad. Fed them some GeoFlora Veg to give them some Nitrogen. Really hope this helps them out!!

More rain. Tried to shake excess water off the branches once the rains stopped. Looks to me like the 4 Kingdoms plant is nowhere as thick / bushy as it was a couple weeks ago. Think its lost a LOT of leaves! Not good…

No. If the geoflora fixes the problem you'll see them stop yellowing, and maybe green up again, depending on what she's currently pulling from them.
If it doesn't, you want her to take it from the ones that are currently yellowing, not healthy ones.
It's also going to take at least a couple of days for the geoflora to take effect, so it's better if she finishes them off until then rather than moving on to green ones.
Thank you so much! That really makes sense.

:thanks:

Just out of curiosity, were you thinking that starting earlier would let you finish earlier, because that's not how outdoor growing works. No matter when you start, if the plants are sexually mature on June 21st they will begin the slow flowering process then, and carry on for as long as it takes them to finish. Starting earlier just makes for bigger plants rather than an earlier harvest.

If you want to harvest earlier in the season the best thing you can do is search for fast flowering indicas. They will never finish in the 60 days (for example) they list for indoors, but they might be done by late September. Some breeders will even estimate a month of harvest outside in their listings.

Once again, Thank You @InTheShed ! Of course, you're right and I Knew that. Not sure why I wrote what I did. Not thinking straight. I'll continue growing the Photo Fems for next outdoor season, but will look into the fastest flowering strains I have. And will grow Auto Fems in my next indoor grow.

Will the shrooms cause issues / problems for the plants?
Some other members have had mushrooms pop up in their pots. They didn't seem to have any problems from them.

Looking at a chart, I'm guessing it's a Potassium deficiency??

:reading420magazine:
It's called senescence.
The plant will start to consume fan leaves as it gets closer to the harvest. It's natural.

Nice growing Hawk, I wouldn't worry about the leaves. Your girls look great, and the end is near!
Thank you @JiggiLotus ! I'm really hoping to be able to harvest before Halloween. Once I get another sunny day, I'll check the trichomes to see what color they are.

Thanks @Melville Hobbes ! The more I think about it, the more I wish I'd just left them alone and let them fall apart into the soil. But who knows, with the current rainy weather, I wouldn't be surprised to see a bunch more shrooms...

Anyone know what kind of mushrooms they are? Looked at a bunch of sites showing shrooms in VA, but didn't find them in any of the pics.

Rain again and looks like it’s supposed to rain the next couple days. Guess we’re getting remnants of the monstrous hurricane? Hopefully, no insane winds as well as the rain!

These are the products I have. Which should I be adding at this point to help these plants cross the Finish line?
  • GeoFlora Veg (5-3-4)
  • GeoFlora Bloom (3-5-5)
  • Sweet Candy (0-17-28)
  • Mega Crop Plant Food (9-7-14)
  • Sea-K Kelp Extract (0-0-18)
  • CalMag (1-0-0)
  • Bud Explosion – PK Booster (0-21-40)
  • Mega Crop 1-Part (11-5-14)
  • Mega Crop 2-Part A (8-12-28)
  • Mega Crop 2-Part B (15.5-0-0)
  • Earthworm Castings (5-0-0)
  • Mycorrhizal Fungi
  • Hygroben – Beneficial Microbes

More rain. Looks like the 4 Kingdoms is about 8-9 foot tall. I am beyond shocked!! But despite how tall they are, I'm pretty sure the buds aren't anywhere close to as big as the Granddaddy Purple and THC Bomb plants were last year in their 7-gallon grow pots. Hopefully, they'll fatten up before harvest.

You've got a lot of nutes floating around, including all those different MegaCrop blends! The yellow you're seeing looks from the pics like it's only on one side of one plant (a little hard to tell since they grow into each other though), so that makes it a tough call. Also, it's getting a bit late to chase a deficiency.

That said, if you want to try and correct it (and you want to stick with top dressing) you could do a 50/50 mix of the two GeoFlora. Or go with the GF Bloom and add the 5-0-0 EWC as well for more nitrogen. I certainly wouldn't go with boosters (I don't recommend them ever actually) like Sweet Candy, Sea-K, or Bud Explosion.

I think weather will be your toughest hurdle rather than yellowing.

As always, THANK YOU @InTheShed !! Yeah, I've won a few of those nutes and grabbed the MegaCrop ones on some crazy cheap promo they had going. I'll continue w. the 2 GeoFloras and hope the plants improve. Actually, I'll be happy if I can just get them through to Harvest w/out bud rot or other nasty stuff.

Yes, not thrilled that we've gotten so much rain lately. But it sounds shitty to complain when so many States south of here just got devastated. Next outdoor season, I'll have to see what fast Photo seeds I have!!
