First Ever Closet Grow Using a 300 Watt CFL - a Bit of Skill and a Lot of Luck!

Re: First ever closet grow using a 300 watt CFL, a bit of skill and a lot of luck!

I'll be watching yours close, they're a coupla weeks older than mine, and if I see you runnn into issues with container size I'll prepare to transplant mine.

Wow how strange that we both got it going so close together.

Take all the info you need brother ;)

Haha, Chumbawumba, Tubthumping. I have no idea what year - but I'll guess... 2000 maybe 2001?

I used to DJ at a nightclub... not really my kind of music, but it was really popular for a bit. :)

Ten points to you ;)

Wow that's so cool a DJ, bet you get close to a lot of half naked, sweaty women. Lovely stuff. Jealous
dude. My mate dj'ed in London but had to stop because of that thing where you get ringing constantly in your ears. Now he's a top chef so it can't be all bad for him.

if I had to guess i'd say that ofending leaf has a nitrogen def with the somewhat uniform yellowing.keep an eye on them,if others start doing the same thing you will have to start feeding them soon. and once the leaf shows a deficiency it will not get better it might even get worse(thanks for the knowledge X:) )but thats ok doesnt mean the plant is getting worse.just keep an eye on the new growth for signs.

Cheers jon, I could see it was a deficiency, just wasn't sure what it's deficient in; however I think the reason it may be showing this is the lack of water, so I'm guessing nute intake would be slowed/stopped which is definitely what happened. Literally for the past 5 days they have grown about a cm!

He he, they do look like they're reaching for the stars don't they. I'm so pleased with them, the biggest one is near perfect looking. No dodgy leaves, even-dark green colour and lots of bushy growth. Loving it.

Cheers bro. That's great news, I thought they would react to the watering so only time will tell :)
Thank-you for your support and kind words my friend. I check here at least 3 to 4 times a day just because I love it here.

Re: First ever closet grow using a 300 watt CFL, a bit of skill and a lot of luck!

I guess they were under-watered. I think the mention of the pots still feeling heavy had me ruling that out, but maybe the weight was misleading due to the weight of the soil, root mass, etc.?

If/when you do decide to transplant, don't sweat it too much. They really are resilient, as mcloadie pointed out, and I've yet to lose a plant or even have issues when doing a transplant. For all of our worries and feeling worried about our ladies, the funny thing is - I've seen people literally throw seeds out the window into their back yard, do nothing for them, and end up with giant bushes in their yard. Miwa did this, for one, if you know of Miwa on the forums here. I've heard many similar stories. Mcloadie's advice in post #181 is right on, if you go that route.

Just try to give them a few days in their new larger home before inducing flower if possible. I like at least a week, personally. Our plants can handle almost any shock just fine in veg, but it could slow development in flower.

Always trust your own gut and instincts - all the pics in the world aren't the same as being there, so "nubie" or not, you have the advantage of being there. But, don't be afraid to manhandle them a little. Our ladies are tough biatches who don't mind a little fondling. ;)

So glad that they are perking up! :thumb:

I cut mine, snap them, hang them, tie them down, cut their heads off and they love it!! Dirty girls!

Re: First ever closet grow using a 300 watt CFL, a bit of skill and a lot of luck!

I love that last pic :)

Once you get your nutrient and water regimen dialed in those plants may lift off, imo I would back off the nutes about 25% for two weeks, make sure their watered and hit em again with nutes ( recommended full feeding dosage ). They look like they are getting good light. Good job doobie!

Excellent perspective X, They do seem to respond to minor and moderate loving abuse. I am supercropping the shit out of my current victims, and like you said, in veg they go nuts! + reps to you X
