First Ever Closet Grow Using a 300 Watt CFL - a Bit of Skill and a Lot of Luck!

Re: First ever closet grow using a 300 watt CFL, a bit of skill and a lot of luck!

Hey guys many thanks for all your recent posts, really made me laugh out loud.

Quick question as I have scoured the web in vain!

My run-off was high 7's on the pH scale, is this ok? That is all, Peace.

Re: First ever closet grow using a 300 watt CFL, a bit of skill and a lot of luck!

I guess they were under-watered. I think the mention of the pots still feeling heavy had me ruling that out, but maybe the weight was misleading due to the weight of the soil, root mass, etc.?

If/when you do decide to transplant, don't sweat it too much. They really are resilient, as mcloadie pointed out, and I've yet to lose a plant or even have issues when doing a transplant. For all of our worries and feeling worried about our ladies, the funny thing is - I've seen people literally throw seeds out the window into their back yard, do nothing for them, and end up with giant bushes in their yard. Miwa did this, for one, if you know of Miwa on the forums here. I've heard many similar stories. Mcloadie's advice in post #181 is right on, if you go that route.

Just try to give them a few days in their new larger home before inducing flower if possible. I like at least a week, personally. Our plants can handle almost any shock just fine in veg, but it could slow development in flower.

Always trust your own gut and instincts - all the pics in the world aren't the same as being there, so "nubie" or not, you have the advantage of being there. But, don't be afraid to manhandle them a little. Our ladies are tough biatches who don't mind a little fondling. ;)

So glad that they are perking up! :thumb:

Cheers dude, priceless info there! Top man :)

By looking at the pics and knowing they are 8 and 9 weeks into veg when do you think would be an ideal time to transplant and then when would you suggest to flower? Peace.

Oh they've perked!

Hi guys can I have some comments here please, my 3 have grown a fair amount since I was last here. The new leaves are a lighter colored green so I'm a bit concerned. Pic for you, check this out. On the baby plant, at the point where I topped. New growth? I may have four tops and my cola back.

Looking good newbiedude!
Yeh the topping looks fine, more of a FIM. The leaves turning a lighter green is good as they were a bit dark green meaning Nitrogen abundance, so they probably used it now during the new growth. How the whole plants looking?

Hey dude, cool that's ace! I was hoping for something to happen differently in at least 1 of them just for kicks. Oh I see that makes sense, although the leaves only appeared lighter when they were in the room, when I took them out for photo's they looked nice and dark.
Just took a couple of snaps there my friend.

You can safely take those yellowing sickly leaves OFF the plant...won't affect them if you don't get carried away...I don't leve sick looking ones on my plants, if more look that way after I remove them, I have other problems I need to deal with...:cheesygrinsmiley: There is a link somewhere with pics of leaves and the possible symtoms causing the problems

Hiya Dude!

As far as transplanting and flowering, it's up to you. The longer you let them veg, the taller they get when they flower. Plan on them getting 2-3 times taller when they flower, so it's really about how much height you have. But, you can transition to flower at any period now that they are perking up so nicely. If it were me, I'd consider transplanting to final pot size in the next week or so, then give them another week after transplant before you flower (or more depending on your height constraints).

That's just my 2 cents - sorry for getting a little behind, I'm subbed to 50 plus active journals or so -- get's to be hard to keep up with at times. They look great - the lighter green is good, and yes the lights really accentuate it and make it look even lighter than it is, but it's normal good and healthy. :)

:cheer:

Looking really good Newbie!

Didnt see any questions mate and like we say we all subbed everywhere! :) You girls look good now. Some good advice of the other growers as well, you'l do good. I'd leave them burn;t leaves on for one more week as they got a bit of burn and I would let them leaves take the rest. But all is healthy as any so do as you please my friend. Looks healthy!

I am a noobie, my most prized plant shows the same yellowing n burning to a crisp on the lower leaves however it only happens to to leaves at a time. At first I assumed the Ph was off, after checkin it I see that is not the case, WHAT DO U BELIEVE TO BE THE CAUSE OF YOUR YELLOWING LOWER LEAF TIPS? NUTEBURN ?? I apologise if its seems as if im rambling but im cumn down from the Wake & Bake n I will be devasted if I loose this plant it is by far one of the best looking n smellin plants i ever come across it is a OG stain n grows short much like the pre 98 bubba.
