The Deep Water Culture Home

Hey guys i have a question in which requires some of anyones input, but lookin at my plants they look as if they are 2 different strains. Now i know White Widow is a 40:60 indica to sativa, the baby has more of an indica type leaf and my spoiled one favors more of a sativa. You see my question is can two seeds from the same strain dominate and favor two different plant styles?

ok this here is my baby favoring the indica

And this here is my Spoiled one favoring the sativa

Now this is just what it looks like to me i may be wrong i just want some of your thoughts.

The reason for the sponge on the PH meter is to keep the probe wet.

When the probe dries out, it becomes no good. It will no longer get correct readings. I store mine in a tiny jar with storage solution just covering the end of the probe. Stays wet until I am ready to use it!

Ok, dumb question, then why do they said probes with covers...that will only keep them dry.

Can you just keep it in the tank then or in a glass of water?

How long did you veg the WW. Maybe that is why I have short roots. I am growing WW and unknown from indoor mix I bought. They seem to be doing better today but maybe I should use the inbetween nutes longer then two weeks to help root growth. Just a thought.

Those are most definitely crosses.

The bottom one being a heavy Sativa like you said.

Yes, seeds can take on different "looks" from their parents. These different traits are Phenotype. Phenotype is any change you can SEE (for the most part, trying to keep this simple).

White widow being almost a 50/50 cross means that one plant can favor the thicker leaves, the other the thinner sativa. Just like having a kid... one kid may have the Dad's hair and nose, but the Mom's eyes and chin. Next kid is the opposite. Unless you have twins, most likely you will not have two identical kids.

I'll take some pics tonight of my plants. I have a nice mix, and you can see the different leaf structure. I have a Black Domina that is almost 100% indica with some Afghanica in her. She has thinner leaves then my last Black Domina grow. :peace:

Hope that makes sense for ya.

Nice man thanx some good info there. Thats kind of exciting knowin im goin to have that maybe a lil bit of a variety within the same strain.:thumb:

No dumb questions.

The cover is meant for shipping. They ship dry. But once you use it, you should keep it wet. Now you can dunk the little cover into the storage solution. Then put the cover on the probe. Some solution will squirt out, but it will stay moist inside.

Mine sits in a shot glass half way filled with storage solution (one of those tall "shooter" shot glasses, not a normal short one).

The root growth will explode when you flip them to 12/12 for flowering. Or it should.

I had a plant I had to hack off some roots. This was before going 12/12. About 3-4 weeks into 12/12 roots started growing like crazy. Plant was trying to keep up.

You have the feeder tubes hooked up, right? Water flowing over the roots?

Sorry Alien, jumping halfway in on the problem. Should have read more...

Got a question how much would 2 150 hps yield between 3-4 plants ? i know theres alot of factors to answer this but lets say i got everything going good what would i expect? (seeds most likely to be 2 white widow and 1 northern lights )

No one can really answer this accurately for you. But I'll try! It's the question any grower has as they get started. How long do you plan to veg for? How tall and bushy? How much headroom do you have? Grow room size? What medium? (I can assume Deep Water Culture but so many other methods of growing are in here... not sure)

How big you allow the plants to get has a lot to do with yield. Outdoors, I can grow trees, so yields of a pound per plant are possible. Indoors, I keep them a bit smaller. If I were growing with your setup, I would probably average 2-3 ounces per plant.

If you can source extra side lights (cfls) and have plenty of head room, you can expect more.

Proper trimming, and proper trellis design can open up a canopy and net a bigger yield.

Are you growing in the SH reservoir? Or 5 gallon buckets? Or...?

A lot of yield also has to do with strain. This will be a factor. Also, as I'm sure you know.... tons and tons of other factors can effect yield.

You can get anywhere from 1/2 oz to 5 oz's or so i mean i have never had one bud for me yet this is my first grow, but after readin others threads and journals im seein an average of 2-4, but roseman had one plant produce a little over 5 oz. He and many others (myself included) grow with cfl's amd thats it.

Does you soul good to sneak up on him like that doesn't it Sam. :peace:

Yes. Gotta admit it. He takes huge hits. I just let him do what he normally does. Nyuk Nyuk. Plus, I knew it would all be positive, so it's a good sneak.

Peace
