The Deep Water Culture Home

Hey guys and gals WOW best sleep in almost 4 weeks i gave in last night but thats ok cause my pee came back good anyways just waiting on a background check. Seems almost like ppl ask for advice and when given just want ppl to give them the answers i guess. Anyways its almost time for me to start flower how excited is everyone lol i know i am.

I am going to be away alot the next few days, busy with out of town guests and taxes and work at the office and work at home.

Its a good thing there is so many ppl here with the knowledge to help and answer questions when newbies such as myself have a problem and am willing to listen. But mr roseman can probably use a break even god had one day off lol.

nice grow room .. i just recently got a Deep Water Culture still in the process of finishing my grow room.. also bought a 150w hps sun system. was planning on getting another one but was wondering will it increase yield ? .... anywho here is pictures of my grow room .. just wanna hear suggestion or what i could do better .. here there go thanks for all the help glad to be here :thanks: i feel like there nothing but respect peace here and i can dig that :ganjamon: (btw length of the closet is 5 ft 6 inches)

Im still a newbie myself so take what i have to say easy. It looks pretty good but it looks like you have a light hanging over your other HPS light system doesnt that seem to block that light up above. If i may also say i would go to walmart or anywhere they sell fish and buy you another pump or two with couple more airstones, the more bubbles the better i have 3 pumps one bein a dual and 4 airstones blowin bubbles for my girls. It doesnt cost but like 2 or 3 dollars on your electrice bill and like 7-10 bucks for another pump and airstone.

Great job with that closet setup, bud. I am a believer when it comes to adding more light. Are you able to maintain the temps in there with the one? Do you think having 2 of them would generate to much heat?

Start up a journal if you haven't already! Good way for us to follow along. Welcome to the bubble-head neighborhood.

well i think i can handle the heat if anything i was gonna make holes in the wall since they lead to the next room which is a hallway and the backyard door so alot of cool air there so thats my plan b if anything .. so another air pump ok .. would it help if i was to get another 150w hps ? only reason i ask is because i can get em for 50 bucks so im guessing one more wont hurt but will it increase my yield? ..

Got more space above ..what can i make this space for .. anything up there is my timer and plugs for my lights

just one more shot of inside

A couple of quick observations:

Get rid of the tin foil, it only reflects about 55% of the light while flat white paint is in the 85% range, you'll do much better with the paint.

The air pump should be above the res. This will prevent siphoning of the res in case of power failure.

The light is pretty minimal for that space. I'd recommend adding cfls to increase your lumen output, I believe you're a ways under what you need.

Hey Deep Water Culture!

Just wanted to stop by let everyone know I'm not able to hang around as much with all the other areas of the site that need help, but I'm only a PM away if anyone needs help with anything - you guys do a great job of keeping the karma positive on this thread, but if anyone gives you trouble and doesn't take a hint, please report the post or let me know about it.

I'm feeling great about all the positive vibes around, :yahoo: and don't want to see anything or anyone put a damper on it... :peace:

Thanks again to all of you for all the help and kindness you've brought to the site!

Sorry to see you so busy obx. Hope you are enjoying your job at least.

Roseman you will be missed. Have fun with your out of town company.

I pulled mine out of coco, cleaned the roots off completely very carefully! I didn't use rw but the one's that look like soil but aren't? I took one of those and made a slit down the side of that! then carefully laid the plant in that with the root's hanging out! then here's where a second person comes in handy, you hold the plant in the basket and if you can very carefully try and thread some of the root's through the basket to hang out! if not keep the plant as close up to the top of the basket and lay the root's at the bottom they will find their way out, have the 2nd person helping poor the hydroton in nice an easy an carefully, then be sure to get the water pumping on the root's, mine worked out find! the trainwreak I have was one of them!

Hope that helps Bro!
:surf:

Thanks Doc. Sounds like a plan. I'll give them another day to acclimate to my area and clean I will. I'll let my wife give a helping hand. Ive read a lot of folks just put them in the hydroton, but I like the idea of supprot. Thanks again for the help. :peace:

I really sorry that you have such a tough problem to deal with. I also love a good sativa. In fact your Killing fields was so beautiful that it will be my next grow. I'm hoping that there is a collective close to you that would benefit from your oversupply. If not .....well I'm always available. :thumb: :peace:

Great job MT! Bud by the bushel basket! Hope they store well for you! Do you have a bud jar rack? You know something like a wine rack so you can select the "vintage" you want for the evening. A little haze in the evening and some grapefruit for breakfast!

What a great idea. A bud jar rack. I have a cooler for my wine why not my bud. I'll be glad to store some for you MT. sounds good right..........it would be really fun.........ok.....it was worth a try. :peace:

junmr2, Like MC said, there is some sort of formula to figure out how much light to use vs how much square space you have. Do a little search for light vs space needed. I find it a rule of thumb that if you think you don't have enough light, add another! For $50 dollars I'd probably go with what you said. Can you purchase both the MH and HPS for that much EACH? If so I suggest getting one of those metal halides for vegging (or some sort of fluorescent). This way you also have a dual spectrum to use during flowering.

The reason for the sponge on the PH meter is to keep the probe wet.

When the probe dries out, it becomes no good. It will no longer get correct readings. I store mine in a tiny jar with storage solution just covering the end of the probe. Stays wet until I am ready to use it!

Got 9 ladies basking in the sun! I love outdoor season. More ladies on their way. I'll get some pics here soon.

You are shooting for a minimum of 3000 lumens/sf. We receive about 10,000 lumens/sf from the sun so that is the ideal we consider.

However, on my next grow I will have approx. 11,200/sf. May as well go for it!

Fry, with that amount of power you will be able to keep them farther away if needed and get yourself some more head room.

I'm running about 60k lumens for a 7 sq ft grow space so I'm not far behind. Mine are in week three veg and I'll add some 6500k cfl's for flower for a little balance with the hps hanging above them. Right now I'm using a HPS to MH conversion bulb with some 2700k cfl's as side lights. Keeps everything shorter and the nodes are tight. 6" high and 6th set of leaves.

I've done a little fimming so they are very, very bushy. I'm beginning to doubt if I can grow 3 per pot on this one. Might have to pull out a bucket and go 2 per res if the bushiness continues. Great, I increase their head room and they grow shorter! LOL! OK, it's probably the MH conversion bulb that did that.
