Tead's Indoor-ish, Winter, Hempy, OGK, SOG

You really need to see some COBs up close. The heat down there on the sweat coast is bad enough, you shouldn't have to fight an HID, or even a blurple heater. I've dropped the temps in my buckets 10 deg by switching to them.

Noted. Thanks!
I've been thru fits of putting together my own COBs. I really like the idea of mounting them inside my CoolTube.
Tead's not a fast mover in these sorts of things. I've been pondering them for years now. I keep getting jealous seeing what other people are putting together.

Looks like they made it thru the heat wave... I only turn my HID lights on at night when it's coolest.. But looks like they made it anyways... GL and Keepem Green

Tead's got tons of experience dancing with the heat. These sorts of spikes are pretty standard during the summer months. I try to avoid them, but shit happens. They're all good.

It doesn't look that hot in there. Is Betty still around? I bet she could give a second opinion.

Betty took one too many dives to the floor, or too many water splashes, or just got old. Her absence in my garden is a sad spot. Perhaps Betty will be reincarnated some day when I see her on the Home Depot clearance shelf.

Bud porn in the morning light!

That looks awesome!

Do you ever use silicone supplements, or anything else to help against the heat? I added GH Armor Si to my nutes, and have had some crazy hot days and my plants still seem healthy. I thought summer was over and stopped using the silicone, but alas Mother Nature disagreed and it's well over 100° (outside my tents, inside it's a bit cooler) again this week but they seem to be dealing with it fine.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

Welcome along DD! Extra happy to run into a sauna based hempy grow! I'll run over and check it out.

Silica btw.... not silicone... very different things.
I have used it before. I often lament that my silica bottle ran dry and has not been replaced. I kind of avoid it's use by growing strains that don't really need it. I find the indica dominant strains generally fall into that category and find that indicas generally do better in my local swamplands all around.

Ok so figured id just find ur journal and sub along for the ride lol versus harass u threw a ton of pm's lol but yea im off to start reading n catch up holy cow this is alot of pages might just have to get the cliff notes

Mine is more of a dry heat then a sauna. Silica that makes more sense, thanks. My garage where my tents are gets to 110° regularly and my humidity stays at a steady 16% (I don't think my meter goes lower). I have much larger exhaust fans then normally necessary to compensate. And hempy seems to create humidity with so much evaporation so it's a good fit. At night it can get down into the 60°s so I run my lights at night and fans 24/7, so far it's worked well.

So.... hmmmm....

How much of a problem does this create? Can you relocate it without threatening the metamorphing inhabitant?

A hard drive death has led to a touch of silence on my part. Back up and running.
First things first.... photos from the gardens.

Blooming outside

Busy. Ignore that droopy girl front right... I used some screwed up perlite and it's causing some water issues in the pot.

Note the DDA x ?... fun. Dunno what we'll get, but it will at least be fun to watch.

Glutton for punishment I see. I'd recommend avoiding the historical read, but knock yourself out. There are many other long running Tead threads... been doing it for a day or two and there's quite a bit of historical words here if you're really into pain.

Hot hot hot!

What are you waiting for?

Those trichomes look all smashed and beat up - very few round heads in the mix.

That's probably a leaf, but if I saw that all over I'd say to myself "Why didn't I harvest a week ago?"

Roughed up trichs are not unusual in my world. Many events seem to be able to cause it.
I was looking for some amber and waiting for the bud to fill up more.
She got the final chop yesterday tho I had clipped many lower branches.

Zero problem. It's quite welcome to do it's thing there. I can totally harvest around it if needed.

The catepillar stage is when they do damage. They bored through the buds and leave their poo behind

That's one of the nice things about the Monarch. It made it's home there, but they don't eat anything other than my milkweeds that I grow just for them. It actually amazes me how they touch nothing but the milkweed. Don't get me wrong... other caterpillars ARE WAY EVIL... but the monarchs are just a pretty sideshow.

Welcome along!

Tead! What’s up! Hempy is amazing!! I remember reading the original thread 10 years ago and trying it with my stealth/micro grows. What an awesome method. I’ve been gone for a while but I’ll be watching ;)

Awesome! Welcome along.

awwww

I imagine your monarch will hatch long before harvest, maybe before flowering :)

I'd call this a good omen

What do you plan to be King of ? ... (politics, real estate, tokers?)

Why... The Monarch King of course. I'd go for King of Carnival, but I suspect there may be some King Cakes in the near future that will provide me with that moniker.
The host plant is a UD1 a little past 1/2 way done. Maybe a month... maybe less.

Some random strategic words...

First, I have to toss out the standard disclaimer again just because of the new visitors.
****Standard Disclaimer****
Tead grows in a crazy ass world. His growing techniques and choices reflect that in almost every way. What works in his world may not work well in other places... or often his own place.
A tin shed in the New Orleans sun is not a good idea... just sayin.

So, lately I've really been shocked by the difference RH has made in my little corner of the swamps.
Air from the north has settled in and the RH has gone from 70's-90's to 30's to 60's. Temps have gone from 80's-90's to 50's-70's.
Even with the temp drops, evaporation from the pot tops and plant transpiration is just incredible. Plants have been drying out left and right.
I've been able to keep it under control in the veg area, but the outdoor bloom area is out of control. I've moved from a standard scheduled watering to waterings based on pot weight or plant appearance. An extra twist in the scenario is a few pots with unusually fine grained perlite causing a much different water retention period.
Water use during waterings has doubled.
Tead's hide is itchy and dry as hell.

Crazy damn weather!

Tead, you might want to incorporate some vermiculite 20% or so in with your perlite. Perlite is great for drainage, vermiculite holds water...... Or alittle coconut? But you are still hitting home runs............... GL and Keepem Green

I dunno... the weather is quite variable this time of year and a shift back up seems to be in the near future, so I think I'm just gonna keep doing some extra watering.
