Looks like one of the rounder varieties of katydid - a leaf and flower muncher.

I don't even bother looking them up anymore... just wait for Rad to wander thru. You seem a bit of an encyclopedia (do folks still use that word?!?!) on the subject of bugs.
Some minor investigation shows little threat from them. I would suspect my neem/spinosad treatments will keep their numbers down.

I shifted all the plants to a different area of my back yard that provides better light this time of year. The spot is actually overhung by trees to it's immediate north. One would suspect a bit of a 'bug rain' underneath the trees. It hasn't happened yet, but Tead sure has his eye peeled.

Random 420 mag member showed up last night on a touch of short notice. Tead drug him around the corner for food. It was a bar/food combo place. Not so impressed with their spread last night... I notice the place has lost it's 'newness' and seems to have devolved a touch. Such a shame.
 
Man, I can't believe I missed a visit from another 420 member. We will have to do a 420 powwow sometime.

You know I hosed up those Ultra Dog plants. Well the first one really suffered, only harvested about 2 ounces from her. I got the second one in jars today. 4 ounces from one plant. That's one of the highest yielders I have ever had. One more still to come down, so I will be Ultra Dog rich for a while. Got Kali AK not too far behind, but she keeps on drinking, so I keep her going. I got an OG Kush that is giving me an issue with mites at the moment, but I got some remedies coming for her.
 
Funny the grandkid has a test for school on how to use an encyclopedia. I figured they skip all that with PCs the way they are nowadays... She's never seen a set of encyclopedia. Well she has,, but didn't even know what them old books on the shelf were? Kind off funny,, when I was a kid,, I use to trip on collecting butterflies and moths. Use to trade with other kids around the world from a hookup from the back of a comic book.... I did have a great collection. Traded with South America nd another kid in Africa. Man they got one HUGE ass moths from a kid natvie to Australia,, damn thing was 12-14" across. I always wondered what that wood feel like getting stuck in a motorcyle helmit at
65 MPH. I got hit in the head by a bat in NM at 65 MPH. Damn near knocked me out. Did wreck, little MFer ruined that bike.......

Wow! I know you dance with larger plants. I'm pretty sure I've not seen a UD over 4.
Of course, for me and the UDs, it's not really about the size. I'm in love with the smoke, so I just try to push them.
I've got some UD beans down. There are quite a few variations in them and I've really only found 1 type that has lasted, so I wanna sample another spread of their variations and see if I can find another winning line of them.
An unofficial 420 shindig in NOLA you say.... hmmmmmm..... It would have to be during crawfish season of course.

I wouldn't make you think about it for more than a moment... but imagine, just for the briefest moment, the damage the worm from that fat ass Aussie moth would do to one of your ladies. Makes one shudder.
As a peddle powered rider, the bird threat is somewhat less. A pigeon got me one day. Sure freaked me out, but I continued mostly unaffected. 15mph vs 65mph. Luv me some motorized 2 wheel joy, but I just don't trust the other idiots enough, let alone the random stuff like bats. I'm an off-roader when it comes to motorcycles. Grew up on an Yamaha 250 2 stroke... fun stuff in a land filled with timber and clearcuts.

For a long while I tried to follow everyone's hempy grows just to be on hand in case of issues.
I gave that up. The list was constantly overwhelming and I was just to scattered by it to functionally participate in most.

Having said all that, welcome along baby! It's a friendly helpful room with plenty of happy folk.

Thanks for having me on such short notice. I wasn't sure if my work schedule would even let me take the time to stop by. I was still in my work clothes and probably had white powder all over me from the factory I was visiting. Y'all are great company. The smoke was perfect, and the buzz hit just right when we sat down at the place around the corner. Hope I wasn't staring off into space too much. Lol. I'm still amazed at your garden. The plants look so healthy and the leaves are darker than I expected with an almost wax like look to them. It makes me want to try hempy soon.

Sorry I missed you. We for sure need to plan a 420 get together in the area. I was thinking the same thing on my drive home. The weather is perfect there this time of year. Not too hot or cold.

I spent Christmas week in New Orleans my first visit (stayed in the Garden District) - The wether was superb, especially compared to New England winter :)
 
I was surprised at the UD since the other gave me just about 2 ounces which is light for me. The 4 was a welcome surprise.

I am down for any kind of shindig. I was talking with my two friends who stopped by last time I was down and they both had a good ole time. The rosemary is stuck in a pot and looking good.

Ahhh.... the rosemary. I suspect I shared the story at the time, but I'll share it with everyone else.
As you can imagine, the floodwaters associated with Katrina really wiped out all the gardens. My neighbor had a rosemary bush that was still alive. My garden area looked so bleak that I just stuck some rosemary in the ground to make it look a little green. The next thing I knew I had several small rosemary bushes. I continued that same technique and moved the plant to a new house that way. The sprig handed off was a copy (clone) of that original bush.
It made me very happy to hand her along to another garden.

Damn... even a friggin rosemary bush has history around here.

Ya know... it's just so special and fun to have folks from here show up in my back yard. Next time gimme a better warning order... we'll arrange better food. Tead's really been having bad luck with restaurants lately. Parkway Tavern or Liuzza's will be the next target.

I'm super tempted to do a BBQ/boil on the day of Krewe Du Vieux... but most of the locals will be busy that day.
3 Feb 18 seems like a good target. Lots of tourist parades that day. A couple that run thru the Marigny/Bywater area that would be more of a local's scene. Perhaps the 3rd would be a good day for some shindiggery.

Looks like they made it thru the heat wave... I only turn my HID lights on at night when it's coolest.. But looks like they made it anyways... GL and Keepem Green
