Smokerjoes 2nd Journal

Hello to you as well sir.How are things going for you and your wife?

Hello everyone! Today marks week 6 of flowering. I have taken pictures of the garden as a whole as well a seperating the 2 plants that will be harvested to give you a look at them individually.

Good afternoon smoker. Thanks for all the advise. I'm reading ur first journal now. I am in fact a diyer... Got a mechanical engineer background. Really liked ur idea of a small perpetual grow. Although I won't get ahead of myself.....yes I will. Lol.

1. By blocking off top half for veg. Saying that how much room would I need to leave up there if I had cfls doing the work? 2 feet?

2. As far as intake I was thinking of having it come right through my door on the bottom of course pulling up through canopy..just wondering like a vent around 6x24 inches across bottom of door like the vent u have on a cold air return for a furnace?

3. Next is single stalk. How many u thinking.....6-7. More? And u say a shorter veg time. How much shorter....less than 30 days?

As far as a journal.....as I mentioned above I'm getting married....actually in antigua in a month. So prolly start one after... Don't think I could let them go a week...... For now just soaking up the info. Can't get enough. Lol.

Yeah we have had it pretty nice for 20 years now.....first manning and now luck. The steelers were my 2nd favorite arc team until manning went to the broncos... Now I root for them when the other too aren't playing. I love a good d....I think it's awesome old man Harrison came back at linebacker for them he is an animal. And yes I saw them 6 tds Big Ben threw against our d.....that is always our down fall. Sorry just mumbling now......

We'll thanks again for all ur time...and experienced info.. It's getting harder to find people like u.........go colts.

Hey nematode thanks for the compliments and for the response. Lets see if I can give you some more info before I start my next game of madden. Im playing for 2.5 million dollars and have ran into a lot of cheaters but it dont even matter anymore im just gonna keep going im pretty close to t he money. Well 2 rounds away . Ok on to your questions and after I typed my response to your previous questions I anticipated these followup questions. Lets see here if you are using cfl then 2-3 feet of space will be plenty as a reference to where to partition the space. I really like the ease of use with cfl they work pretty well but they are by no means a substitute for a hps/mh or led but im sure you knew that. with cfl it needs to be able to be on a yoyo or moveable so it can constintly be within 1 inch-2 max away from the canopy. cfl doesnt have very good canopy penetration at all and so if cfl is the route you wish to take you need to make sure to prune anything under the canopy as it wont have the light needed to reach the canopy and become a top and so it is a net drain to the energy you need focused for the top.

As For flowering I would say within 2 weeks after the baby breaks through the dirt. This short veg time will ensure very little branching so there is less energy the plant is wasting making branches you cant utilize. As for the amount of plants it really depends on your container size. I would say 4 but you can probably do 6. The key is for them not to invade to much into each others space as one plants leaves will cause shadow for the other and then you will get uneven growth and ultimately subpar buds. Of course you dont need to follow my 2 weeks suggestion in terms of flowering but remember your plants will double sometimes triple in height as they stretch and so it will be important for you to train them to stay short and bushy and ultimately happy instead of taller with lush green growth for the first few inches and then dead brown sticks underneath. If you need evidence of this just go outside and go to almost any bush the outside is a nice pine green or kelly green but if you move the bush apart to look to the undergrowth it will be yellow if not just brown dead and sticklike. For the amount of time the plant will be alive from seed to harvest I wouldnt recommend any container over 3 gallons. Remember the smaller the container the more you can fit but paradoxically the smaller the container the fast it will become rootbound and so it is a give and take relationship. Form the compromise you find acceptable. In such a space as yours use uniform containers of the same dimensions and make sure they are square. You can fit more square pots in a designated space then round ones as square pots fit flush to each other. Lets see here what else did you ask? Ok so if the top is for veg go 2-2.5 feet with the cfl for the bottom part for flower go with 3-4 feet with the hps or led. Led promote shorter bushier plants and hps promote elongation and stretching but give nice ripe colas but they are a bit fluffier. Most rock hard buds you do gfety though are that way because of a process called bricking in which the bud is thrown into a trash compactor and baled into a tight square. This is for shipment and sadly weed this way will have less thc as it sweats in transport the ammonia builds up and anerobic conditions persist and a lot of the thc will collect as a black liquid at the bottom of the plastic wrap the bricks are transported in. Just a random side fact not important to your specific situation but good to know regardless.

As far as football we can talk about that in the 2014 pickem thread linked in my signature underneath my posts. A few of us there and we like to talk football. Thanks for your questions. If you have more feel free to ask them this goes for everyone else. If you dont feel comfortable asking out in the open send a private message to me with your questions. I will post the question and answer in my journal but not who it was sent to me by .This is to keep your identity a secret while still disbursing the information to all who made need it. Have a great day and if I dont receive anything else to reply to have a happy thanksgiving and please do not participate in shopping at places encouraging you to leave your families on thanksgiving. If we do it wont ever stop and just keep opening stores sooner and sooner and pretty soon noone will be having thanksgiving.

very sativa looking strains - love em - like your setup - subbed for your journey :)

Hello mrrobert and thank you for your subscription.

Hey smoker and anyone else observing....I have been checking out topled or mars led lights can anyone tell me why u would buy the marsII over their reflector 700watt that u can switch between bloom and veg. If I'm reading it right u have to specify what spectrum u want in the marsII line. And they cost a lot more.....any help much appreciated.

Foot note also checking out kind and G8 also....wow kind thinks highly of themselves.....but hey if they work.

They're 5watt chips instead of 3watt so they have better penetration. Kinda like the difference between a 600 hid and 1000 for example

I use the reflectors for veg lights and full spectrum marsII for flowering.

5 watt led panels tend to be a lot bigger and burn a lot hotter then 3 watt as well. For your needs id suggest 3 watt diodes and even 1 watt would suffice depending on what your budget allows. But for the space id say 1 or 3 and dont worry at all about 5 until you get more space.

Every thing looks awesome Smoker the PGG is really going some
You will be the first ever to grow her under LED lights ,, I reckon the LEDs do help with Trichome production so Happy days
And have a great and very happy 420 Thanks giving

Good morning smoker....that info was great. Money is not really an issue(I mean we could all use more lol.) but if we can get some kinda grow going it will only save us in the long run. For perspective smoke around a half a week @ 160 adds up. Anyway I'm still up in the air on hid or led, but know I know what direction I'm looking at in a led system.

Thanks again everyone. Have a terrific turkey day......

Hey great question. The reflective material is mylar. Mylar comes in different thickness measured in millimeters with the difference not in reflectiveness but in how easy it is to move around and crinkle resistant and things like that. Ive enevr shopped at menards but my guess it is just as reflective but it may not be heat resistant which will block out the police flir cameras. FLIR means Forward looking infrared radiometer. Basically what it does is get a good look at what you are doing based on heat signatures and is used as a invasive way to get warrants. So what flir resistant mylar does is mess with their camera and shows lower temps and cool colors so no grow is detected . The paper at menards probably isnt flir resistant unless it states it on the packaging or the mylar itself will state its heat resistance near a edge of the paper.
