Smokerjoes 2nd Journal

Yeah go for it. It will improve your germination rate. Even older seeds who have lost some of their hormones still have sprouted with the use of a pad

It should be above 65 during lights off. There should be a 12-15 degree disparity between lights off and lights on. Seeds that germinate cold have a larger tendency to be male unless using female seeds. The plants will be ok if temps fall under 65 but keep in mind the plants will take that much longer to start the growing process if temps remain below 65 for to long

No I dont use a ventilation system so that isnt a area I ever cared to research. Im sure it is very doable though For my space passive ventilation and fans are enough.

Yeah thanks, I'll research it some more.....my intake will b passive too. Just the 6in fan and filter sucking air in three 4in vents in the bottom of my door. If ya follow. I could always germinate up stairs were it is always 72 in the winter......furnace. Lol. How long would they need to be in that environment you think, before I could move them?

Well if it is 72 in with your furnace then they can be there as long as you want. If it is a gas furnace then it will generate co2. 72 is ok but it will take the seeds longer to germinate but they should all sprout within 10 days.

Rite on thanks again smoker. I got my thermometer rite next to my LP gas furnace vent and it is getting as hot as I wanna go...right now it's at 82.... While the furnace is running to warm house back up from being cooler while at work.....I'll play around with it.....I'm sure I will figure something out. Just to clarify I could run the grow room once the ladies r established, at 78 with lights on and 67 with off? Now thermo at 83......

Yes those are fine variables. With co2 supplmentation temps can go up 5-8 more degrees just fine. the more co2 there is the higher the temps the plants will require. The higher the temps the more water they will require.

Here are the buds manicured still on the stem. I always cut them from the stem and manicure from there but for the sake of this journal I did it this way. Properly manicuring bud can take hours and by cutting them off the stem and going in sections you can get a better manicure its less labor intensive will save you time and its less strain on your back. When manicuring in order for me to help you save time let me give you some tips.

Wear loose fitting clothes and a short sleeve shirt because you will get hot . Being comfortable is the key to being relaxed.

When you decide where to manicure use a well lit room. This will save you a great deal of time for touchups and rework.

Your hands will get really sticky and stain colors so if you have a decent amount to get through make sure you use non powdered surgical gloves. Non powdered because you dont want powder from the gloves sticking to your fresh sticky buds. Cleaning your cutting instrument periodically in rubbing alcohol is also recommended if you are finding your scissors sticking together from all off that resin.

Use a sturdy chair one in which you dont have to hunch forward to work. You want to naturally be as close to your plant when you cut as possible. Less wasted actions and less strain means hours of time saved.

I have already washed my buds but pictures of this process is in my last journal but I will talk about it here in case you dont need the illustration but want the meat and potatoes.

There would of been a great deal more but we have been cutting off a branch a day and flash drying for about 10 days now. I didnt really want to but when your in pain out of cash and so close to harvest its the only thing to do really. Side note: Proper flash drying covered in my last journal as well as in my blog. So yeah we flash dried probably 60% of what we had at the time. Of course those buds would of became bigger and had a lot bigger yield had we waited but unfortunately sometimes its whats called for. My hope is we have enough until the 6 phulbanis are done. Once these plants are dried and ready to be smoked I can easily see there being 4 oz of dried material left. The 1 cola I have the tape measure up to weighs 51 grams by itself I couldnt believe it and had to weight it again the second time it said 50.65 so close enough.

Congrats Joe...

They look huge grats! I see white hairs still popping out like new growth, did you pull a week or so early? If so wow these babies are huge and wanted to get even bigger, amazing.
