re: Mutt's 2nd Organic Grow - Soil - TGA Genetics

I thought about LST. I can always drill holes around the lips of the bucket to have somewhere to tie them off to. But, I think i'll just grow them out natural-ish to see what they do. I may still end up doing some LST to keep the unruly ones in control. I really really liked the SCROG ..... but, once I had issues and had to take the plants out of the box, I quickly realized that the SCROG makes that nearly impossible. If nothing ever goes wrong, then SCROG would work just fine. But, I usually don't have that kind of luck.

That is why I have yet to try Scrog.

scrog good!!

re: Mutt's 2nd Organic Grow - Soil - TGA Genetics

Don't get me wrong. It did exactly what it was supposed to do. It kept them all within 6 inches of the same height. There was no "uncontrollable" stretch. It let me maximize the horizontal space I had to grow in. It also help me minimize the amount of vertical space I had to grow in. I only used half the available verticle space available. It's a great way to grow. I'd like it much better if I were growing in a large room and could walk all the way around all four sides of the SCROG screen. That would be ideal. But, in a box that I can only access from the front .... it just gets too restricting. There is no way to access the back or the two sides.

re: Mutt's 2nd Organic Grow - Soil - TGA Genetics

what about hinging some doors on the side?

re: Mutt's 2nd Organic Grow - Soil - TGA Genetics

or who ever it was that took a tomato cage and made individual scgrogs that you can move?

re: Mutt's 2nd Organic Grow - Soil - TGA Genetics

I still have the screen. It leans against the box when I'm not using it. I won't use it in my current grow since there are two rows of plants. And, I wouldn't be able to access the back row of plants. But, if I decide to do a small run (2 or 3 plants) ..... I may decide to use it again.

Subcool and Farmerjohn Fourtwenty (youtube) use tomato cages and they work really well to keep them from spreading out horizontally. I plan to use them this time around. But nobody has them in stock right now. And by the time they do, I'll probably be harvesting by then. But, you still have to top and supercrop (if growing in a box) because it does nothing to control height.

OK Whiz ..... you ask to see some nug porn from my last harvest. Here's what I currently have curing. I leave the small fan leaves on it since they are packed with trichs. So, you don't really get a good look at the bud itself since it's under the dried leaves. I did rub some leaves off to show a little better.

Here's the Maui

Here's the GDP

And here's the LA Kush

Although the Maui made much nicer buds. Since I harvested early, I would consider it Schwagg. It needed to run longer since it had so much sativa in it. It tastes great ..... but kinda week. But, it does get ya high.

The GDP and LA Kush came out fantastic. They are really stoney and really strong. They could have had a little more couchlock. But, would have needed another week or two for that.

re: Mutt's 2nd Organic Grow - Soil - TGA Genetics

After checking on the girls today, I decided to flip the flower box onto 12/12. Since this is my first time growing them out at the thier normal heights .... I should just flip them and see what they do.

re: Mutt's 2nd Organic Grow - Soil - TGA Genetics

Looking forward to seeing the buds. :)

re: Mutt's 2nd Organic Grow - Soil - TGA Genetics

Yeah me too. The Maui deffinitely needed to cook longer. Unfortunately, the bugs were just sucking all the nutes out of the plant. This caused the buds to run out of gas and not do much of anything. The hairs were starting to turn orange right before I plucked them. So, the buds had stopped growing at that point anyway. But I damn sure got enough meds to hold me over till the next harvest or so. So, I didn't waste my time. And, I got my money's worth from the build.

The 7 ounces I got would have cost me about 1500 bucks to buy. So, it more than paid for the cost of the ballasts, lights, etc .... x2. Everything I grow from this day forward is absolutely free. Only overhead is nutes, dirt and electricity.

Yea I feel you on that. Im stocked up on nutes that will last me a year. 2 nute lines all gallons. Plus additives. You should just buy bulk and you wouldnt have to worry about anything. And instead of soil switch to coco coir its only $3 for a brick which will expand to 5 gallons or more. I just picked up a couple today. As for the electricity ...... Run GLR schedule. I cut my bill in half twice. I use to push out serious kwh now im down to 3-4. Average 3.

re: Mutt's 2nd Organic Grow - Soil - TGA Genetics

I'm not too concerned about the electricity. It hasn't really gone up noticably. Maybe 20 bucks a month, if that. Spent that on lunch.

I thought about making some hash. But, I don't have bubble bags yet. I do have some 110 micron mesh .... but still haven't made a kief box yet. I intend to eventually have a large kief box that I can use to make dry ice hash. So, this time I put all my trim into alcohol to make some tincture and RSO.
