Weekly Temperatures

I had the extraction fan on really low. That along with the clones on the floor was keeping the humidity up the the 60s. I have turned the extraction fan down and the other clones are gone and the humidity plummeted. In DWC I do not think it is as important because there is 3g of bubbling water right under each plant. At this point I am OK with having it a bit cooler and dryer in the veg tent. I am playing with the variable speed fan to find a sweet spot, though.

The buckets are staying right at 66f. This is perfect since I am going to try to stretch these buckets as long as possible. I started with a weak solution and a lot of bacteria. As I add to the buckets I am adding full-strength nutes, along with 2ml hydroguard every week and 1ml z7 every other week. For my last DWC grow I changed the buckets every week, even in early veg when the plants were barely drinking. This time I am going to see if I can maintain the buckets until the plants have consumed the full volume before changing them out. I am keeping a close eye on pH and the root health.

These girls are growing quickly. They all have some of those big green velvety leaves that remind me of their mother Jenny. The two that had some rot at the top where the clones got wet (Joan & Jazz) are still ugly where it happened. Well, ugly and beautiful at the same time. Very pretty colors. For now I am just going to leave them alone and let them grow. I still have six more weeks until I can move them to the flower tent so it's a balance between keeping them alive and not outgrowing the tent.

Oh, and I got a new fan for the tent. I have a feeling this tent is going to need all the airflow it can get in 6 weeks ;)

Happy Growing.

Yeah real nice! I'm interested in your fan mounted to the tent pole in the last pic? Cool mount!
I'll second that, I can't remember ever being so curious about a fan!

Girls are looking beautiful!

Thanks @DonkeyDick I love the Govee hygrometers. When I first bought them they only showed temperature and humidity. They added the VPD and dewpoint displays recently. You can get bluetooth, wi-fi, or both. I also have two govee water sensors in the basement, one on the floor next to the 'sink' and one in the DWC tent. They saved my basement from getting flooded once already when I left the kettle filling and forgot and went upstairs. And who doesn't love a nice dashboard? :)

Thanks @StoneOtter and @Rexer I got this off the zon. It dos not have reviews. My dad got one and really liked it. The mount is great and can really point any direction. The fan is.. OK. I tried to mount it on the side pole first, but the mount digs into the tent in the corner. And when the fan oscillates if it needs to go up at all the fan all but stops. But if you can take any weight off the oscillation and mount it where the tent allows then it blows a lot of air. We'll see how long it lasts ;)

BTW, I looked back at the picture I posted and noticed something not right...

I just ran down and tightened it :)

Temps are a little low and so is humidity. However, that turns into a pretty good VPD. I will not get optimal growth at this temperature but it works perfectly for this grow. Bucket temps are staying under 68f. pH is fairly steady but drifting up as AN usually does in veg. PPMs are slowly dropping and all the buckets are down about a liter. I'll mix up 4 more liters of full-strength nutes tomorrow and top off all the buckets.

Jordy and Jolt look great. Joan and Jazz are both two-faces. One side is growing great, but the other side stopped growing at the original clone top. I still think they will grow out of it, but maybe not completely. I feel like I'm playing with house money anyways; growing clones with left over nutes. And having a lot of fun, too:yummy:

The flower tent should be ready in 4-6 weeks now. I have the light at 12" away which is about 25k LUX. At the rate they are growing I'll probably start moving it higher tomorrow. This is going to be a full tent in 4 weeks ;) My first two grows the plants have been pretty short, though. I am ready to see these girls at the top of this tent!

Oh, and they got their first baby haircuts today. It was mostly old clipped clone leaves. Just a few pinches ;)

So far these girls are making it too easy on me. I'm still in the original buckets, which were mostly water and bennies. I am adding full-strength nutrients to top off the buckets when they need it which is slowly bringing up the PPMs. Occasionally I top-off the bennies. The pH is staying right where I want it and the water temperatures are staying under 70f. What good girls :)

I just went down and topped them off. They're drinking between 250-500ml/day each. Jolt is the biggest and is drinking and eating the most. That works out because she got topped off the most (1.25l)which raised her PPM right in range with the others. Joan is drinking the least and only needed about 500 ml to top off. So far starting the clones low and topping off with full-strength nutes is working out well.

These girls are growing quickly. Maybe too quickly? I still have 15-20" of vertical space to work with, but I'm going to run out of horizontal space soon. I think it's going to be a jungle in here well before the flower tent is ready.

The two in front (Jordy & Jolt) are still looking fantastic. Nice thick stems and great node development. I love the big thick leaves with a tinge of blue/purple on the outside, just like their mother.

The two in back (Jazz & Joan) look a bit like ferns ;) I knew when I harvested the clones they may have problems. They are both still growing steadily if a little one-sided. The top growth looks great, though.

I've decided to move to MC after the AN nutes are gone. I would love to hear from some other MC hydro growers out there.

@bluter
@Grandpa Tokin
@FelipeBlu
@Rexer
@Tokin Roll
@West Hippie

Do any of you use MC in hydro? What PPMs do you run through veg and flower? How stable is the pH? Do you use any flower boosters and, if so, how? Anything else I need to know if using MC in hydro? Thanks a lot for your help guys.

Happy Growing.

I spent so much money on the ph perfect nutrients. MC has taken over my grows . I have an older version of the mc. I’m adding the manufacturers calmag dosing . The led light requires more also . My tds pens are all giving different ppm’s but close .
Six gallon nutrients change this morning. At 6 grams a gallon 36 grams , mixed the MSA first 60mL then the 30 mL of calmag and then the mc. I don’t adjust the ph normally starts at 5.3-5.4 no sweat plenty calcium down there . Then it will rise overnight .
The old mc I have has calcium 5.6
Magnesium 2.3
Hopefully you have the new version and don’t have to use calmag . Thanks for the tag .

Thanks @West Hippie good info. Yea pH perfect works good enough but is very expensive. I think I'm getting the new MC but we will see. What is MSA?

Edit: Also do you use the same mix for veg and flower?

Silica, some great stuff for beefing up the stalk .

If you are just getting into this product, you probably won’t need CalMag. However, a silica product like MSA is now preferable to one of the potassium silicate versions - so as to avoid going overboard on K - since there’s plenty in the emsea.

Thank you @West Hippie and @FelipeBlu . According to the analysis MC already has potassium silicate. Is this new? Do you still need more silica?

Well, you don’t actually need silica, but if you want to supplement it, 0.15% isn’t very much.

Are you sure that the guaranteed analysis you posted is the current one? They change so frequently..
