Hahaha well a lot of people struggle in the development area you strive at Happy so that has to mean something!!!@Backyardigan trust me I am patient, maybe not fully but I am I always soak All seeds for 12-24 hours, the thing I didnt do was paper towel them...but I have had good results not doing it in paper towel...mistake on my end 1 said "ok" the other said "nope try again" . But I put them back in paper towel in a warm dark place...I will finish a puzzle while I wait "patiently" lol
@Krissi1982 I'm usually really good with all plant seeds and sprouting them.. It's the keeping them alive thing that's my issue me and cactus are not friends.
On another note that I think is not helping with the patience. I just got this tent and I've been watching the temps and humidity like it's my job because I'm nervous of a fire and what not...so I check ever couple hours and while I'm in there I look at everything. I'm prolly driving myself nuts lol
SQUIG!!!Howdy do mate. Just stumbled over this thread. You should have tagged me in..
anyway, I'm here now, munching and
I know its only 2 pages into your adventure, but i will catch up from the beginning. ive nearly caught up on @Krissi1982 journals. I'm only 420 pages behind on Krissi's updates.. God damn, can that girl chat
Hmm, that's one hell of one open ended statement haha!but you're glad you're like a thousand miles from my actual mouth
I was going mention this, less is more. Set a schedule when to check in with loves of your life Happy. Sometimes the ladies don't like to be bothered too much haha.Do you have a monitor for them? Has it been crazy up and down with the humidity and temp that is making you worry or you just driving yourself nuts??!!
Hmm, that's one hell of one open ended statement haha!
Yea def just have to trust them like a kid going to the neighbors to play for a little bit. Get an app in your phone if you want and you can set up alerts if something weird is going on...that way you don't have to worry...or just make yourself not think about it...if you can do that, it was a hard thing for me to learn but it is doableI was going mention this, less is more. Sorry to hear you having troubles with your batch of beans. Let's hope they just late bloomers, strong finishers. You should try a controlled and test group for propagating beans. Sanding VS no sanding... handling VS no handling... the beans get all they need for pop, grow, and thrive for the first 14 days. Just add water, warmth, and darkness. I get 99% germ success with epsom salt mixture soak then paper towel. I no handle my beans much, less is more grasshoppah. Especially if the genetics strong from one reputable bank. Other than that, your mutant looks pretty. Slightly waxy but that can fix, and good job on your tent ecosystem! CHEEOk update time....so the mutant is no longer mutant and is stabilizing. I figured out the temp/humidity issue, I put the humidifier outside of tent to blow in through one of the exhaust vent opening and pointed my fan up on the other side of the tent so the circular air flow is working. Now for the bad news... So after Acapulco gold seed one started to mold and the northern lights cracked and then turned white....seed and all.....so I decided to germinate all of the seeds I had 2 Acapulco gold and 2 northern lights.
To germinate I used 400 grit sand paper on the edges, soaked in warm water until I saw them split. I then moved them to paper towel in a Tupperware container on a creature heat mat (80° Max temp) and let them sit for two days..... And they are all doing the same thing split, show tap root, and then stop doing anything. I got tired of waiting as if I'm correct I got an entire batch of bad seeds ( photo below of what they all are doing...FYI not my photo) I chose the best three 1 aca and 2 northern and popped them into fresh happy frog soil no nutes last night after three days sitting in paper towel. I may have jinxed myself boasting my germination rate....lesson learned. But they are now in cups with cling wrap over them in the tent... I will wait a few days and if nothing happened I will be sending all the seeds back for a refund. Slightly disheartening but hey learn learn smoke learn....am I right lol. But for now I'm just going to be patient and monitor them and make my call.
The first batch 1 of each no sanding... And I left them to sit in the pt...so basically that was the control...what I did with the rest was a mix of all the techniques.....and still nothing. I will let the three in cups chill for 2-3 days but after that all scrap and return. And thanks I like the look of the mutant to. I don't know how to fix the waxie look...didn't even know it was a problem lol but i just have to find a reputable seed dealer that ships to ny...no more of this trial shit.. but backyardigan thanks your always here to shed some shaka lightSorry to hear you having troubles with your batch of beans.
