Re: First ever closet grow using a 300 watt CFL, a bit of skill and a lot of luck!

Just my way bro, but I don't remove leaves unless their like 20% messed up. Those leaves support the meristem ( rapidly dividing cells ( where the growth happens) ). I look at it like this; is that leaf adding to the plants growth or taking from it, I usually let em fall off, I dont defoliate or pick leaves, just my style and an accepted method. I read alot, and everything I see dosen't support defoliation unless I want to slow growth. Just my opinion.:thumb:

I guess I have to say to remove them, they are not going to get better and are sucking energy from the others.
just my opinion tho:)
forgot
if you do take them off do it with a clean pair of sissors and try to clip as close to the main stem as you can:)

Re: First ever closet grow using a 300 watt CFL, a bit of skill and a lot of luck!

Hi guys, i just trimmed 4 little leaves that were fully yellow and crispy :) i will let the other ones that are still green but with little brown spots do their thing. I'm gonna try and not check them for 24 hour intervals so i can see the growth more. I'm sure they are quite happy being left alone. :peacetwo::thanks::morenutes:

Fair enough dude i reckon i will only take off the dead looking leaves, the rest can stay put, i love a bushy looking plant rather than a trimmed one.
Question: When they go into flower do they grow another 1/3 or 2/3's?? Many thanks. :allgood:

B-dude, I can't bring myself to call you newbie!, I have grown sativas, and from the flip, my plants double in height. I'm flippin this next batch at 12". I have seen plants that had the bad portion/s of leaves trimmed off with sciczors, and the green part was left alone, similar to trimming the leaves on cuttings.

Re: First ever closet grow using a 300 watt CFL, a bit of skill and a lot of luck!

Hey Newbie,n
Nice grow, subbed.
Think I can help with the early curling. I used to get that and it was from either over feeding (Mainly N) or over watering. Seems to me you fed them too early as John Innes No2 is a good strong soil. Not too strong for cannabis, its great for it. It just doesnt need feeding for a while. Now you have re-potted I wouldnt feed it for a few weeks, just water when the pots are light.
If it show sign of hunger , then feed it slightly. Start easy.

As for Biobizz nutes, some are good , like the Root Juice!! Others like BioGrow and Top Max are a waste of time and none of my plants even house plants have ever liked BioGrow, it always causes problems for some reason. Heard a lot of the same on the product as well on other Forums.

As for BioBizz soil. That stuff is really good "apparently". I will be using it next time as its a full organic mix in bag, has all the worm casting, Microbe/Fungi life and perlite ready.

You Girls are looking good now , just treat them with care and use only water for a while. :goodjob:

Hey man, thanks for the compliment that's sweet you think that. Fair enough, well the leaves seem to have kind of recovered so all is good. Peace dude. :smokin:

Hey JBC420 thanks for subbin, i have only ever fed them two drops of grow so i dont think its over feeding as i raised them in John Innes Seed Soil, then went to No 2 and the leaves were showing signs before so probs over watering. I've heard different info to that i heard that the top max and micro are not worth using but the grow, bloom and root juice are so maybe i heard wrong. I also heard ALL varieties of BIO soils were to be avoided but saying that my friend grew some top quality bud in BIO soil so i don't know. They look like they're enjoying themselves at the minute so i'll leave them to it. Peace bro. :peacetwo:

Hey dude, just researched the Biobizz soils, they look mint. I will be trying them next time if i can afford to. I like that they have worm castings etc mixed in. Seems like a lot less work needed for the amateur grower using these soils.

Peace, and thanks for subscribing.

I've moved them closer to the light as they seem to be growing quite slow compared to how they did when they were tiny. They could still do with being closer! :bong:

Re: First ever closet grow using a 300 watt CFL, a bit of skill and a lot of luck!

Ok guys here is my newbishness coming out now, will someone please explain to me exactly how to feed. I understand to use (say for instance) 1tsp grow per gallon of water. Now if 1 of the plants received (let's say) half of that gallon, another plant received a quarter of that gallon and the other plant a quarter then surely if i'm not mistaken but the 3 plants are each receiving different amounts of nutrients. This is really confusing me, plus if i am only using 1-2 litres to water my plants then what solution should i make and how much?????? Please don't refer me to the "how to grow" section because that doesn't explain it properly either. Help my lovely friends please. :Namaste::adore:
I know i probably won't have to use anything but water for a few weeks while the soil nutes get used up but i will need to know at some point. I just can't get my head around it.

No...they are taking them up at different rates..each one is receiving the same % of nutes

Mix nutes at 1/4 to 1/2 strength...if it says 4ml per gallon you only want 1-2mls per gallon...seedlings can get by with no nutes at first, then a weak mix of nutes getting stronger as the plant matures. If you were in hydro you would definitely need a ppm meter to regulate the AMOUNT of nutes you are giving your plants..., but if you start out weak and get stronger as plant matures, you should be OK.:cheesygrinsmiley:

Re: First ever closet grow using a 300 watt CFL, a bit of skill and a lot of luck!

yeah what hozona said:)

Re: First ever closet grow using a 300 watt CFL, a bit of skill and a lot of luck!

4.55 litres per gallon,so if you have a solution that calls for 1 teaspoon per gallon, divide 1(teaspoon) by 4.55. That will give you your amount of a liquid per litre of water. OK so my instructionns call for 1 teaspoon per gallon. so this is what it comes out like.

1 teaspoon divided by 4.55 ( the number of litres per gallon ) equals .219 (the number of teaspoons per gallon required)
1 teaspoon= 4.928 millilitres, so .219 (the amount of teaspoons required per litre) x 4.928 ( the amount of millilitres per teaspoon) = 1.079 millilitres of your product per litre of water. Hope I spelled millilitre correctly.

it sounds right but it also makes my head spin:)
I'am way old school and never was much on the metric system so all those decimals confuse me LOL I am more a fraction guy. I know thats a poor excuse but its my story and I'am stickin too it.
not to mention I dont want to steer you wrong and hurt your plants brotherman:)
