Ok heres update.

Shed slab down!

Jays autos are.....well....floundering.

I was looking over my seeds and got a bit impulsive.

Took out a Barneys Farm Watermelon Zkittles, and put her in for a dip.

Apparently she loved it.

I mentioned earlier (maybe not here )
I would name my girls after Pop Stars.

Im thinking Courtney Love;

colourful, crazy, could die at any moment, and shouldnt be a mother, but probably will be.

Needed to get a start, approaching Spring, if my plans are to go the way Id like (outdoors) then the next 2 to 4 weeks are kinda pressing me into action.

If I get her past seedling (and the wife!) Ill start a proper journal.

Im already looking for seed raising mix, goddamn, moving has me at 6s and 7s.

Well, you know thats probably prudent.

That was what I was getting at with the death at any moment part.

Ill be a little more considered past this one.

In fact its so random.

Thinking I should tidy the room they were in, and when the last order came I just stuffed them into the box with the others.

Up until then they were in alphabetical order. In fact I did cast my mind to your orderliness when the thought occured.

So I dug them out and put everything in its place. Staring at them, and the other gazillion freebies, it got the better of me.

Just get one in man, you have to make a start.

This was not well thought out.....

Im hopeless when it comes to self discipline on doing things I want and love to do.

I should never have looked at them.

My impulsive nature gets me in a pickle with resultant consequences.

She had a bit of a task getting the helmet off her head, and last night she looked jaundice, as they do when they just near opening.

This morning under dedicated clone light (+14dlh) she looked much better.

Leggy (Mine  always are) asf. Try and get a fan and the RH up.

Tbh this might be her finest moment, haha, could come to a crashing halt at any moment.

For now just enjoying her potential.

Had a win today.

Finally found a suitable seed raising mix, like how I used to be able to get before everything become bloody wood chip and coir based.

These other blends are cheap, nasty, often moisture resistant, and definitely robs the N component.

Although most seedlings dont care so much, canna seedlings are always lesser plants when using an inferior mix.

As terrible as Ive treated canna seedlings before, a good start is a big help.

Looking at this mix the ratios by eye look great, and theres a little extra nutrient added. A few sprinkles of perlite would make it almost perfect.

Super happy. Ill trial it on some seedlings before the next canna girl goes in.

I might also try a plug the hydro guy recommended, he swears by them, cant hurt to try, again my intent is to start with non canna batch, and watch.

Canna is definitely a specialty grow, my favourite plant type to tend to, but Im still super excited for the spring vegetable run.

Day 2.

Day 3. (Start of Dlh)

Temps are good (Circa 20 to 23C)
RH between 40 to 55.

Im experimenting with much lower RH than Ive previously had followed, where I would aim for 60+ to high 70s for the first week.

So far she seems not to mind.

Later this week Ill go to Jays on his days off, pick up mycos, and feed.

Brought home a bag of soil mix from 1 shed, will visit another storage shed for perlite tomorrow.

I want to give her pot space, and a feed.

Definitely going to push this girl way harder than any Ive done before.

Put Courts to bed just now. 2nd true set of seed leaves coming through.

RH down to 35 (?!) Definitely pushing her limits. The house is rising right now, the predicted rains have set in.

Chased me from my task for the day. Putting in the base for greenhouse.

Did it properly, although I can be drawn in to corner cutting on my own projects every once in a while.

Heres where the magic (hopefully) will happen.

The state of the yard leaves a bit to be desired, Im a slowly but surely kinda guy.

Tamped and screeded. Boards are to avoid further imprints till I lay out the bottom level.

Light was due at 10 few minutes ago, shed normally be in Snoresville but alas not tonight.

Can only promise a maybe.

Shes really taken to that clone lamp, never tried one before, came with small veg/clone tent I got. Bargain. Full set up around $350-400 for $100, with an extra set of of ducting and light wing.

Much better than the burple, mars turned down or household cfl/ led I had thought about.

Those nodes look tight despite her legginess. Theres time to rectify, just need to sneak the fan in there.

Keeps a beautiful temp (for now) around 20 to 23C. Right in the zone.

Ah well its hit the skids and gone careering off the road.

Courtz was euthanased at my trembling hand.

Im sad, but relieved. The guilt was too much. I dont want canna grows to upset the wife. If she discovered it after putting her foot down to wait it would be a long road back.

I want to say the lesson here is dont lie to your spouse, but its not.

Im flushed with enthusiasm though, the tent was great, the light was great, and the genetics gave me a tantalising glimpse of what might be. Obviously they can take a bit more tough love than I had come to believe.

I did uppot her yesterday arvo, she was courageous in her recovery, didnt miss a beat.

Her roots were impressive.

Now to hurry up and wait........

Ok its finished. Well the downpipes need figurung out but 99% done.

Wel that and the auto vent openers. Wasnt up to it today.

My old uncle who came to check on my progress yesterday learnt some choice combinations of words watching me work. I know because he told me so....haha.

Just in time, an inch of rain tomorrow.

Now if I can explain to the wife a vegging plant needs 18 hours of light and the greenhouse only good for around 12 (maybe 13 like dawn to dusk) then maybe I can get a canna or two in.

As we arent divorced yet Ill give it day or two.....Im a monster when inanimate objects arent doing what they should. Co-workers understand, her not so much.

Right, well, that was actually faster than I thought ha!

Mrs DV8 has green lighted a grow, but Ive had to compromise.

Jay has all my autos except the 4 Barneys freebies on hand, and 1 @Trala sent me for a comparative grow. That last one will have to wait for the shed (and my turn for a side by side lol!).

If the choice is use Barneys or wait for shed and photoperiods, Barneys Autos it is.

So I will start with

1 x Gorilla Zkittles & 1x Critical Kush.

I have one more of each. Just went in for a 24hr dip.

If they come good, which Im sure they will, Ill gather some names, and link an auto journal, tags, updates etc.

Im hopeless with the autos so far.....but lets see if that cant be turned around.

Ive looked in regularly on a number of people impressed greatly by their Plant OTM and Photo OTM auto entries, see how much (if anything!) has been learnt.
