DV8's Deviance

Ok gals, guys, and anyone else not under those two banners (fine by me), heres a bit of end of week update.

Some buds went out, by all accounts wasnt too bad, Im not like scentific, no mohs scale here, but a solid 6/10 was given.

Old mate crackhead, (good crackhead) gave me a solid deal on a dehumid, and humidifier, and then offered some 75W bar heaters. Maybe Ill get around to using them but at 50% off retail I felt obliged to help a brother out. God knows Ive sat at the bottom before selling shit to strangers for rock bottom. Much nicer this end.

First of two deliveries I was waiting on arrived from @CoffeeShopSeeds , very happy, will give them a proper plug shortly, they are site sponsors. Barneys farm and freebies, will wait on the second one and give a write up and details. Thanks James!

Sunday Ill head to Js, set grow tent #3, I have a few ideas, as is the case our choices are often different from the other, so this tent will be a maiden run of how I want to set up.

Once shifted Ill either disassemble, or set up another mirror image. He wants to see how 2 to 4 plants goes, if he likes, it will stay. The little tent, or his little tent will go in for propagation/cloning. Ill send the 1k and 2k spare lights, 6 inch filter, temp controller, 4 inch intake, bar heaters, humid, dehumid, and camera.

Aiming for environmental and airflow automation, with hand watering, at least until grow info is collected.

Medium and nutes tbd.

Soley Barneys genetics, we are thinking 2 x photo, 1 x auto per run, but we may need to adjust.

The freebies, The Sxxxxxxx, and a bunch of singles will go to tents 1 & 2 (already were and have been) where he controls the grows top to bottom.

As they come through he wants to adjust his equipment, and run some testing on seed production. He has alternate nutes he wants to run some side by sides.

So all good news, save for me kicking rocks waiting on permanent area of my own to start in earnest.

As we are so deep in the year Ill endeavour to put some soils together to cook for a couple grow buddies and myself to run next seasons outdoors, the spring is fast approaching. Ill batch up some for veges and fruiting as well.

If I wasnt quite so hectic in my personal and professional life Id pepper in some garden updates, but for now the pineberries, fingerlimes, pomegranates, fig, strawberries, new olive seedlings, and blueberries are all going great guns, and the Psilocybin mushrooms just coming into flush, theres plenty to smile about, and do.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hello :)

How have I missed this journal?! And you even tagged me. So sorry Deeve. I get a lot of notifications sometimes and I missed it completely.

I was just looking through your post history for your Off Topic to post my mix and nutes and here we are!

If you don’t mind getting advice from a lady grower I think I can really help you, particularly in veg. I have learned so many tips and tricks and the fact out landscape is so similar means they should work for you too. Flower I’ve got nothing of value to share, but veg I’m golden.

Here’s my dirt mix

80% Terra
15% pearlite
5% Blood and bone

Nutes as recommended by the aqua queen Emilya and heaven sent Hashgirl, and I totes rate them. To the point I stopped Tega Brop *taps nose* on Cleo and switched her at about 3 weeks. I’ll use the remainder of my MC just for seedling.

Ok so heres my official shout out to @CoffeeShopSeeds . Firstly I write this short review with two important details to keep in mind.

I am not sponsored by Coffee Shop Seeds, which means I can fairly judge their service, range, freebies, customer care, without bias.

Secondly my opinions are my own, and are intended as a guide.

So on with the summary. I have placed 8 orders with them in total, 6 recieved, 1 pending, 1 awol.

In all my orders the promo code has ensured a 15% discount, and multiple freebies.

The couple of times I had questions they followed up, and in the last delivery recieved all rectifications were made after speaking with James personally.

Coffee Shops seeds have had a Barneys promo for free Critical Kush Autos with purchase of 3x Photoperiod strains. It automatically has added to cart to checkout.

What I really love is a chance to add autos to the grow room, and all the orders with Barneys included have been recieved in the original sealed packaging.

@Barney's Farm Thankyou for your beautiful packages received from the on seller, they are just magnificent.

I love the piece of mind Im recieving the original genetics in a beautifully purpose built package. Coffee Shop Seeds obviously values this to, and their stealth shipping has worked almost flawlessly. Getting good seeds shipped in remaining in good condition has been a real challenge to find, coupled with reliability, Coffee Shop Seeds have excelled beyond my expectations.

Checkout has always been simple, and given the discount for members of 420, very reasonably priced.

The selection is great no matter your budget, tastes, or preferences, with a range of freebies, not just the Barneys Farm pictured below. Site is easy to navigate, easy to search and click friendly.

So far they have taken every step to ensure successful delivery, and have attended promptly to my questions and raised issues, and its obvious they care that their customers are happy. And because they do Im happy to be a repeat customer, and recommend them.

I know plenty of Australian growers that have had frustration at getting a reliable & affordable range of genetics. Coffee Shop Seeds is definitely recommended to purchase from. You can find them over at the sponsors page.

So thank you James and staff, youve made it very easy for me and the community of local growers here to get many different strains in to grow, so thank you from all of us.

Barneys from Coffee Shop seeds as recieved! Just looking at it makes me smile! (Note I have many others I havent pictured, however I do not want to run afoul of any posting restrictions concerning 420).

Hello :)

No problem Tra, I get that. Before I got here I was a mod and member on another site, totally unrelated. Can empathise with that. Theres so many good threads and journals. SO MANY NOTIFICATIONS! Haha.

I was just looking through your post history for your Off Topic to post my mix and nutes and here we are!
Well it probably be a bit low key, at least for a bit. But its nice you're here.
If you don’t mind getting advice from a lady grower I think I can really help you, particularly in veg.
I do not mind at all. I think you and I have a similar outlook, keeping it simple.

Every grow is a new run, more info, different ideas, but never without excitement.

With new nutes, new medium, new tent, new genetics, new equipment Im starting out fresh as a daisy, its as good as a maiden run. It just makes sense to have others, including you, offer help and guidance.

I have learned so many tips and tricks and the fact out landscape is so similar means they should work for you too. Flower I’ve got nothing of value to share, but veg I’m golden.
You can veg like a boss Tra. Ill be a long way happy to see similar colour, growth, and training among other things.

Great. My closest store carries both the medium and nutes, will be too easy to go pick up. Hopefully this week. Should have gone yesterday, but had some important events that needed my full attention and care.

Ive seen your switch and thats good enough for me. Certainly didnt go backwards. So nice of your grow ladies to help out. Now it just follows down the line.

Thanks T.

Welcome to mate. Come right in and pull up a seat.

My threads are more for entertainment purposes and for me to look bacķ on than anything else.

If anyone comes in looking for serious commitment, they will end up as disappointed as the Mrs.
Probably give the same eyerolls. Its all gypsy, Mr Toads wild ride, circus antics.

Theres no cover charge, and you are welcome to come and go as you please.

Oh no pics sorry.

Was a bit of a task but we got tent up. I mean a cuñt of a job. Seriously, why do the easy things become so damn complicated?

Most of the time was wasted on the 6 inch extraction. My fault, I seperated the filter and fan unit and it would not house correctly on reassembling due to the clamping.

Kind of funny, I had reams of ducting, tape, yoyos, hangers, baffles, connectors, but really just needed a broad necked clamp.

Nearly just gave up and grabbed the other (cheaper) 6 inch, in the end rigged up the filter and fan seperately but connected. I like precise. Its not. But its sound and will fufil its purpose.

Tent, draw in circulation and ducting, light, electrical, 1 x bar heater, dehumid, humid, and relevant controllers were a breeze. Added 2 x hygrometers, and J will fit an extension of his security camera feed in there.

All in all good job done. He'll go get a cpl boards and timers, inner trays, Ill go pickup medium and nutes and we will be away. We've settled on an auto run while he dials in.

Dropping seeds and whiteboard back later. Im already excited. By this time next week Tent 3 should be up to being used for purpose.

I took one heater back home, hoping it pushes the temp in dry/hang/cure cupboard up to proper stable tents, will give the buds at least 48 hrs of additional time before returning to jars.

Being fit for purpose Ive hung it under the drying rack, really a nice bit of kit.

Only dawned on me (Im a little slow) while setting up tent that it would be perfect for drying.

Ill keep an eye on RH and ATemp remotely for cpl hours, at 75Watts should be enough to get the temps up the few degrees C needed. Heres hoping.

Holding at 18.8C up from 14.3 atm.

Getting a pretty steady 20C with exchange. Moniter is pretty close so probably a couple degrees cooler.

Pulled the buds out and spread out. Honestly, its so crumbly. It looks great.

Its the chlorophyll smell. Ive never had it linger so long. Underneath that it smells great.

Give it 24 to 48. Couldnt hurt.

Times like this I wish I did imbide, think I might be closer to the answers.

Went shopping. New(ish) place, great guy. Sure wish I could give him a plug.

Got a bunch of things, but out in shed tonight so proper update might be a few hours, or in morning.

Made the shed toasty warm with a new space heater, same as work one, but a wee bit smaller and diesel.

Costs about the same as a mid size inlands economy to run with current prices, but Im comfortable

So heres how today went. Friend and Gromie @Trala has been getting good results with the Barneys she has been running and so I have taken her recommendation ( via Hashgirl & Emilya if memory serves) to give these nutes/feed a good solid run.

Actually being that I fully intend to run some outdoors seemed like a great choice.

So this morning off to the hydro guy, a solid 2 hour one way trip. My old contact has closed, and the nearest store only trades weekdays, so this was a new customer run today.

The owner was so nice, I do not miss the days of dimly lit shady tucked away places served by bobble head stoners and big blokes covered in tattoos who both seemed to have bad attitudes in every. Damn. Shop.

Pleasant, helpful, threw in some freebies, chatted canna and small business. Knew his stock quite well, and definitely understood horticulture. Got everything required except the specific medium Tra had suggested, so Ill try an alternate, figured it cant hurt, maybe Monday I get right one if I have time.

Substitute should be fine for outdoors, so a little try on indoors wont hurt.

Got ducting, Mycos, nutes, clone consumables, fabric pots, perlite, media, temp controller, scrubber sock, and some pot stands. Chuffed.

Off to see Jay tomorrow drop off some items, and seeds. Hes keen, Im keen.

Best guess, 4 maybe 5 weeks until move, so add 5 more for shed. Will be right on the cusp of outdoors starting, a winter tent run at mine is subject to approval haha, have doubts it will happen before shed built.

Having J run an auto winter will have to do till Spring, well I feel how thats the way it will play out.

While its not growing growing, was a good day, tomorrow hopefully better, and my enthusiasm can be channelled shortly fingers crossed. Cheers.

Some nice amendments you got there. It is great you got someone who was knowledgeable without the attitude at the canna shop. It all looks to be coming together nicely now, steady on the tiller, and hopefully you'll soon have another great garden going.

All but finished tent/room install, J gonna run just the two on first run, with some luck will have a cpl babies this time next week.

Its funny how well we get along, and similarities, (esp looking at me at a similar age) ,and yet, there are places we dirverge and even run into areas past discussion and compromise, into conflicting thoughts.

A shared love of tending can smooth the middle ground. First two up are his choice.

I dont begrudge him his passion, he loves variety, so Im fairly certain he wants to run the Barneys after the first two.

My fault, I took a few different types, freebies, and hes keen to try different things. Its his nature, to dabble, and after his photos Im reluctant to insist.

The kid is on a new adventure, a new grow, at his home, I can only smile at his love for keeping things fresh. Anyone near him would be hard pressed not to get swept up in his vision, drive, and dedication.

He gets ideas of his own, and from other growers, the newer generation mostly.

Even when he called me an old dinosaur with a smile on his face, laughing at me, and adding, " But you know a canivore type, like I dont want to piss you off either," cant help but laugh. Hard not to love a bloke like that.

So it will be a surprise to me too where he settles for the first grow. Just nice to be tag teaming once more.

You will know when I know. Cheers.

Hi Deeve

I’m interested to see how all your extra nutey bits work. I’m a totes less is more kind of girl. Sometimes I think we overcomplicate grows by overthinking. I have learned a wait and see approach has held me in good stead. I’m however open to add things if it proves to be beneficial to the bud, so I’m watching with interest.

Look it was thrown in, bloom boost. I cant imagine it could hurt. Certainly favourable for outdoors Im planning on. Hopefully it will be a big year.

The mycos, pictured blue bottle, definitely a proven winner. Make good roots. Aussie made for Aussie growers. Been around forever.

Couldn't agree more. Gardener first, grower second. I often sit and think " Is this action going to create a problem or solve one?"

You and me both on the watching and wait and see. Im really tempted to try out on a few of my fruiting plants.

I think strawberries & blueberries might benefit from some extra too. Can only try on my grow and garden for science.

Ok Quick wrap.

No 2nd seed package.....yet. I live in hope. Bunch of single Barneys.

No news from J. Hes on nights atm, I give him a chop out (help) from time to time, maybe news tomorrow.

Got another bud report. Bloke was stoked, a thumbs up on outdoors. Wants to have a go at seeds from particular plant, hand a handful so I have obliged.

Might have a sneaky go myself in next cpl weeks, got a few burn piles to clean up, might go have a cheeky whiskey, a blunt, and watch the fire.
