Cerdito's Soil Autocheese Closet Grow

Good Morning World itš a brand new day,

Hope everyone and their extended green families are happy.

I'm a bit floppy, and so are my girls. I am on the first day of fasting, and have already read Dr Pepper's thread and feel hungry.

My girls are also hungry. Their leaves are sagging and the cells don't seem to be pumping up the leaves nice and full. It is time to give them their first proper watering - they are after all two weeks old today from the moment they went into the soil. They have had splashes here and there to keep the soil moist, but I think today is a good day to start a watering that goes all the way to run off.

I was going to do it with a weak chamomile tea mix with a little ash from the fire and some stewed nettles, with 1 part to 20 of fresh urine. This is a good idea no? Remember I am just in regular less than one euro for 20 litre potting soil, not super hot-rich-in-everything-Fox-Miracle-Frog-Farm-Ocean-Bizz grow with your eyes close soil.

Oh, and we are vegetarian, so we don't believe in any of the bone or blood meal or anything like that thing.

Thanks Sgt Pepper for your interest, but I am afraid on closer inspection this morning, with a little more growth, Zānē is one hundred percent non mutant freak. She only has one head - I am not going to get to grow a lovely alien baby but I still like her very much,

The name Zānē is popular here, itš from Hebrew and means simply ''Woman'' which I thought was a good name to call a plant that I am truly hoping will be a woman - and people with this name are meant to ''provide a strong sense of calm tranquility in others'' which is exactly what I want from her!!!1 :)

Thanks all

And Mr KJ, thanks, I know I was being a bit optimistic with pre-flowering - I guess she is just a smelly girl! It does warn on Dinafem website that they are not stealthy plants - but I have no neighbours for about 8 kilometres, so we should be ok. :p

Good Evening People!

Hope your days have been lovely and productive.

I missed a day of update yesterday, but nothing much to report - after I had watered them (used about 1 litre of chamomile tea between the two - with about 10 percent urine and a little compost boiled in with the tea.) I thought 1 litre would be a nice little top up, because I am scared of overwatering and doing them bad!

Dresney - you are an angel - thanks for recomending Battleship Galactica - I watched it until early hours of morning, and then every opportunity am sneaking in more episodes. Can't believe I missed that one! Many years I live in places without televisions, so I miss many good series all the time. I only just watched Game of Thrones - and loved that, but I was wanting something to take its place! You did that thankyou.:) Becuase I have water fast for a week, (or maybe 10 days if I can bear it) I have lots of time laying around writing, meditating - or watching pulp! It is too difficult to be active when fasting, and less good for body - that is my excuse for watching 6 episodes of BSG in 2 days anyway:) Thanks again

I loved Firefly - I find the film disappointed me in a big way - just not the same. We have opposite other halves - mine loves weed, but doesn't like television! So I only watch these things alone - but when we have weed I will not be alone in that:)

So here are pics of day fourteen, two weeks, or a ''fortnight'' as weird English people say like they still wear suits of armour.

Looking good no? The smell in here is wonderful too - it really smells like cheese...cheese and weed together, it makes me very hungry actually, and makes me want to smoke weed. That is exactly what a fasting woman with no weed for 50 days wants:d

Love all xxx

:rofl::biglaugh::rofl::biglaugh::biglaugh::rofl:

You make me laugh so much! I love it! :partyboy:

And omg!!! BSG! I'm so glad you're enjoying it! I'm going to start watching it again tonight! (This will be my third time through :loopy:) It's probably my favorite series of all time... it might be tied with Game of Thrones. :goof: Game of Thrones... ahhh, every time I hear the intro music I get a rush of emotion. I'm way too into it - it's probably a little unhealthy. My husband tells me a dirty joke all the time because I have a crush on Jon Snow - 'The forecast tonight is 6-8 inches of Snow.'

How do you get your shows? Do you have something like Netflix (online streaming)? I spend a lot of time knitting and always have Netflix running in the background.

Back to your little ladies though - they look wonderful! I was surprised to see so much growth in just two days! I think they like your tinkles. :high-five: And isn't the smell just lovely? It's a preview of the yummies to come. It helps me be a little more patient.

I think we are kindred spirits, Cerdito :love::love:

:D thanks Dresney. I love those intro credits too - they are a masterpiece!

Ooooooooh Jon Snow :) He is a brooding beautiful little man. From the very first episide - the only problem is there is't enough of him. I liked Rob Stark more though - it was very sad moment for me when he went - I really liked his character too :( There aren't many pure good people in that show - they all have shades of darkness or vice - he was a proper man hero. But ''8 inches of snow'' would be a lovely treat in your Christmas stocking ;) Looking forward to next series. Start of next year no? I watched all three series in about a week, so now I'm lost.

Nope no Netflix, don't think it works here - besides we have no money for spare things (we only work for a few weeks a yr and then try to live subsistence - the seed and light purchase was like a big thing for us) We just watch on the free sites - i don't mind poor quality.
Besides, unless something exciting is happening, I'm normally crafting or making something, and only listening.

Thanks for the comments on the girls - must remember this is a growing forum, not a geeks reunited!

2 weeks seems to be about the point that other plants I've been looking at start doing crazy things. Though mine are going to be struggling, as I've just realised it is half to eleven, and the lights were meant to go on at ten - oh dear!

xx

Ok, hope you are all having happy pre-weekends!

Lots of growing today - every time I have had a look they seem to have grown. What was strange (or maybe it is normal) Is that far about 2 hours, Līja was much higher than she is now - it was like she was reaching, or strethcing for the sky - she was very tense and strong, and her leaves pointed at the heavens. She has relaxed now - but it was very interesting to see.

And Zānē has a little problem - she has started developing some little spots of yellow - which if I didnt know better I would say was heat stress - but they have been at a constant below 75 for several days - and it isn't the leaves closest to the light that suffer - it is the bottom ones.

A picture tells a thousand words, and I have several pictures, so thousands and thousands of words told here.

Nice, so all is good in world. Would you say I am correct in that she is a bit heat stressed? Surely it isn't a deficiency, and I know it isn't nutrient burn because there are none!

Looks to me like a droplet of water has lensed the light and burnt the leaf. I have a couple also, even without spraying or wetting the leaves. Dew forms on the leaves when the light goes off and when they come back on again they can burn. If she was hungry she would have yellowing lower leaves, and if over fed she would be darker green, so she looks fit and healthy to me. I wouldn't worry unless it gets much worse:). Have a great weekend, and your doing a great job with limited resorses.:thumb:

I agree with KJC, when water droplets remain on the leaves they act like tiny magnifiers. This causes a small burn on the leaf surface while under the lights. I never water or do any spraying until lights off.

Thanks very much Mrs Bluefly, Dutch Dragon and KJC for your advice there - can't believe I didn't think of that. I was busy looking at the ''big picture'' so I couldn't see the wood because of the trees. (Slaps head)

And thanks Mr Dutch Dragon for your nice comments. It makes me smile :) I've worked out that with electricity and consumables on top of my initial investments - this grow will cost by the end the equivalent of 180 Euro. That seems a lot, but that cost will go down to about 60 Euro for each afterwards grow. 60 Euro - thatš about 7 hours of working in the UK or Italy or Ireland, or wherever we go to get work when we run out of cash :) Less than a days work, for several plants of lovely quality weed - against around 20 Euro a gramme here for bad quality weed! Might have to turn the whole house into a grow room and give up travelling to find work ;)

Welcome Light Addict - thanks for your attention! I love your thread with the girl from Aliens in. Really interesting.

Lots of lovely growth - it is 18 days now since they popped their heads into the world, so here are some pictures.
I still haven't found a lighter, which is the preferred item for scale, but I have a 40cm ruler next to the plants instead, which some would claim is an even better insrument of measuring.

I snapped the bit of leaf off here, because it had gone very brittle and crispy.

This bit is not so bad so I leave it there.

Looking good no?

I am very happy with how they are growing, with only the little problem on Zānēs leaves. Would anyone recommend starting to feed soon?

That is my feed - It says on it
''Plant food - tomatoes, peppers, peas, spices, lilies, narcissus, tulips, gladiolies, cherries and jasmines.''
iii_001.JPG

Here is the breakdown of what it is in it. It says - ''Nk Mineral Complex with microelements OEDF (and I don't know this word in either language) - Chelated'' NPK 2,4-0-7,2 (FE,Mn,Zn)
iii_003.JPG

and this is completely what is in it by percent - no translation needed because it has elemental symbols!

Thanks all, hope you are growing lovely things and having lovely days

Oh, one more thing - Zānē is in a white plastic paint pot - is it possible that I should cover this with something in case of that light can penetrate it - because I think I read somewhere that light can be damaging to roots?

xx

Thanks for that, now it is their dark period, I will get something wrapped around her - I was wondering maybe this is the reason that she has grown a little smaller recently.

And I forgot to ask in the main post - people think that this tomato feed is fine?

xx

Tomato feed is fine, BUT, start her off with it at 1/16 of the amount stated for tomatos. I myself am finishing a cheese grow which I ruined with the same nutes at quarter strength recommended for tomatos. Start her off on a really weak solution and slowly up the dose over the weeks.
It's a mistake that has cost me dearly, I just thought that because my last grow was fine that I'd just start off with quarter strength, unbeknown to me the cheese was super sensitive to it.
