1st Time Grower Box Build - 1st Clones And New Grow - Maui Wowie - GDP - LA Kush

The Maui Wowie is really starting to take off. I'm a little nervous about her future stretch. So, I decided to put them into darkness for 36 hours. I killed the timer (for now) and changed it over to 12/12. I'll leave them in the dark till I wake up Friday morning. At which time I'll start the timer up again. I'll have them with the lights on at 9 am and they'll go dark again at 9 pm.

Now just waiting for the fun to begin.

Hopefully I'll have my BPN nutes by Friday. It's watering day on Friday and since they'll be going into flowering, I'd really love to kick if off on Day 1 with good nutes. But, a day or two won't kill me ... or them.
 
I only have three plants in mine. The box was made to do 6 or 8 plants. There's plenty of room for them to spread out. If they get too tall, i'll just reach under the screen and pull down which ever cola is trying to take over. Basically LST it back down to a reasonable height.

When I went down today, I had to do some serious man handling to get her into a better position. I actaully accidently broke the tallest growth off the main stem. I was horrified. But, promptly stuck it into a rapid rooter. This Maui is close to outta room in the back.

The GDP and LA Kush are really starting to catch up now. They are filling in thier screen and the smaller lower branches are really close to the screen now. I may get more colas from them than I originally expected.

So, as I was getting ready to water them. I looked underneath and realized I need to defoliate a little bit. Just to make sure they area under there is clear. So, I started snipping the large fan leaves (under the screen) and some of the hopeless branches and were sagging or just never gonna get enough light.

It didn't take much. I could have stripped much more. But, there is still some room left for more growth on the GDP and LA Kush. So, I left some growth under those two. Here's how it looks now. Much better. Much more room to work and I'm sure the nutes I just gave will all go farther up the plant now.

I ordered my BPN so it's on it's way. Hope to start the BPN nutes right about the same time I flip these to 12/12. I did start adding molassess to my water. I also have double the dose of kelp/fish/guano poop mixed in with the water. The girls seems to love the added nutes ...... which is why the Maui has exploded with more growth. I should have used better nutes from day 1. But, at that time I was throwing my money at lights, ballast, box, fan, filter ... etc. And after looking around at our local hydro shop (expensive) I figured I could get by on what I have.

I like it, sense you have or are going to flower the next 3 weeks are going to be all that you can get above your screen trained.
everything below has got to go. you have seen my scrog for sure I think so tho its not the greatest it is pretty text book.
I see after reading that you have it pretty much figured out so I will just shut my mouth and watch you grow:)
 
No prob ...... comments always welcome. Although it might appear that I know what I am doing. I am actually in half panic mode most of the time. I'm still learning what's important and what isn't. What's an emergency and what isn't. Then, when I do see something a little off. I have no idea what to do and have to read read read and google my ass off to try and figure out what to do. I just don't have the base knowledge that multiple grows will teach me. But, I am learing as fast as I can.

So, feel free to comment.
 
Excellent job so far with the training Mutt. You picked some great strains to start with. I love the wowie myself. Take care, I'll see ya around.
 
I'd love to pick up some actaul Mowie Wowie seeds that were actaully grown in Maui. May need to vacation to Hawaii some time.

Last time I was in Hawaii I got ahold of some. I don't know if it was 'the' Maui Wowie, but I will say it was some of the best smoke I've ever had the pleasure to inhale. Something about the red earth its grown in that makes the smells, colors, and flavors much more pronounced. This applies not just to cannabis, but all the fruits and veggies they grow on the islands. Pineapples are not quite the same here on the mainland, as they would call it.
 
No ... no lollipopping .... not yet anyway. All i've done so far is strip off a few of the useless branches and fan leaves under the screen. There's still more that should probably get removed. But, I wanted them to get through the flip first. Once I have them on 12/12 for a couple days, I'll go ahead and take everything off below the screen. I originally built my box to grow up to eight plants. But, on my first go around I wanted to keep it simple. So, I only put three plants in there. So, the airflow is really quite good right now.

Plus, they are in the dark right now. I'm not putting them back on the timer till tomorrow morning. They are getting thier 36 hours of dark right now. So, can't do anything till the lights come back on.
 
mine was done this time before flower(lolipoped) I was much happier doin it before flower then the first time.
the scrog before this I didnt even get started till after 3days after I flowered and I took a small beating on yeild
so I guess all I'am saying and its to late now but try and clean her up before you do switch, the stretch will be on now so you will be able to train her in the screen almost twice a day for atleast 2 weeks. I even have supercroped when there was no room left for a branch to grow at week 3.
anyway its a fun F'en way to grow IMO:)
 
I'll keep that in mind for next time. I can probably just lollipop them tomorrow morning when I go down and turn the lights back on. There shouldn't be any issues since they actaully haven't started to stretch yet.

Next time, I'm going to grow the same strain. Or, either all sativa or all indica. That way they stay closer to the same size.
 
I don't think it would be much of an issue. There's not too much going on yet in the first week of flower. I think thinning it out is deffinitely a good idea.



Well, I bought myself a ticket for the Subcool School of Dank in Seattle on the 16, 17 and 18th. It was 75 bucks and the proceeds go to Autistic kids. I got myself a cheap room so I don't have to travel back and forth. should be a fun weekend. I figure I should be able to pick up some useful info. They are gonna have some glass blowers there and raffles and drawings. I'm looking forward to it.

Deffinitely. I'm glad they starting having stuff like this up here. It's not like I can just run down to california for class or something.
