X Marks the Spot - XLR8's Big Bang Auto Hydro Grow 2011

Hey That Girl is Beautiful xlr8 ! :cheer:
I agree with Mr. Krip, she in POTM material. :high-five:

You've convinced me I should try another auto. Should I veg it for a week or two, or just throw her into bloom? I don't think it makes much difference.

You've had a really good summer grow! :)

:thanks: buddy, I really appreciate that. :high-five:

I think Mr. Krip and God's Trichome gave you a lot of good info on autos and the light cycle bit. Mine said it would flower between 12-18 hours of light per day. I went with 18 to maximize bud development. Some people swear by 20 hours of light per day as the magic number.

I didn't want to go over 18 because I've heard of a few people here having problems with their autos not flowering until they bumped the hours down at least temporarily.

This has been a nice little summer grow. Fun and manageable, helped me break in new stuff. Looks like it will be a nice potent med. strain, too. :bong:

All would work on 12/12, but the end result would be very lacking in the yield department.... It is cool to have smaller autos in your veg tent though, if your start 2-3 every week or two then you have a never ending cycle...whoa i'm tired, goodnight, sorry bout hijackin ur thread X....

No worries GT (and others) on the sidetrack -- that was a great little discussion on auto-flower plants, and I agree with everything that was said. It was all pretty new to me, but I've learned a lot during this grow. I'm all for plants like this one. I can see myself growing more autos in the future in the right circumstance. :yummy:

But seriously man I really cant believe the growth of that thing, she's beautiful! And ABSOLUTELY POM material, show the community what autos can do bro! I was really against them for the longest time. But I've found a new apreciation for them, thanks to you. Good luck on the contest, and dont feel the need to reply, I know you're busy,:Namaste: just dropping in bro.

:thanks: Quix!

I am really pleased with how she turned out, and I'm really glad I did this grow just exactly how I did it. Lot's of challenges along the way, but I've learned more during this grow than any other grow. Not just about the plant, but all the environment changes that I did this grow, too. (New room, tent, lights, CO2/Exhale thing, etc.)

Oh, and I don't feel the need to reply, your just one of my good grow buddies on here, and I WANT to reply. :high-five:

Thanks for wishing me luck, Q. I'm sure I'll need it against all those bigger gals my little auto gal is running against. ;)

It shouldn't matter on different lights I used my HPS for both veg an flowering for the past 3 grows an came out fine, I haven't done a comparison on using MH for veg an then switching to HPS for flowering..XL ladies are looking great bro I'm very interested in doing not only hydro as you know but looking into auto's

Can't wait to see you do hydro, Crower. We'll be learning the "Ebb n Gro" style of growing at about the same time I think. Isn't that what you ended up going with? (Pretty close to the same set up as the Flo N Gro thing I bought).

:thanks: for the props my friend!

Great looking plant XL, I can't wait to start my auto's! good luck with POTM :)

Hi Nap!

:thanks: buddy. I'm really jazzed about her. I'm definitely in favor of growing more autos in the future. What a great plant for someone with limited space!

I need all the luck I can get for the POTM! ;)

Grow update: 80 days from seed -- 45 days flowering:

She is still not ready - but close. I'm pushing the potential chop to Wed/Thurs timeframe for now. She is on her 2nd day of flushing. Only RO water and a few basic supplements for now. Zero nutes. Since flush started she's started guzzling water like crazy.

Buds seem like they're still fattening, and are definitely getting frostier looking the last few days.

They taste poor due to improper dry/cure - speed dry, but they pack a wallop that ends narcotically. I'm struggling to stay awake right now... true story! zzzzzzzzzz.......... (see you all tomorrow!)

Hi xlr8 :)

I didn't think you would mind us talking about Autos. So Thanks. I think it helped educate a few of us for sure. You have more patience than me. If my girl tested Couchlock, she would be down already...my favorite kind. :)

Your girl is one beautiful Lady. :high-five:

Thanks OMM. I think she's still a bit racy at the start, but you can tell she'll be a good med couch-lock because as the buzz wears off, it's like a tranquilizer hit you. I'm okay with that, though. Good before bedtime meds. :bong:

Gettin' close though. :yahoo::party::rocker::woohoo:

Pics! Left the HPS on, so there's a lot of reds in the photos, but here it is:

Oh and a couple of days ago, this was PPM during the first part of flush process:

Your girl looks awesome, XLR8! She's definately loving your home-made waterfarm! :welldone:

Thanks buddy. I can't complain one bit about how the bucket worked. The only challenge has been PH related - the small rez. means chasing PH a little more than I'd like. The DWC/DIY Waterfarm combo seemed to work like a charm!

That's a pretty plant dude. I lost my B-Bang to problems. One thing I found out is I 'me myself', Auto's wood be nice for flipping two crops outdoors or finishing early and getting out the wood's before the cops even start looking for Marijuana Plots. But I've been growing a strain in the flower room and out 49 days. With this strain the option is up to you how large you want to veg before you flower. Flower time on this strain is 49 days and it has proven it for close to 2 years.
I do love that B-Bang ya got it's one happy heathy plant. And she is doing cartwheels for ya. Keep It Green Dude

Thanks man. I agree, she's a beauty in my book. ;)

You really do have a good idea as far as early harvest dates outdoors and avoiding Leo.

Bummer that yours didn't work out, but looks like you've got a lot of other really nice plants goingjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj

haha - too funny, I passed out typing this (massive amounts of indica, haha), and that's what I did - all the "j"'s.

Thanks for poppin' by Norcaliwood! Sorry to crash on ya midway. ;)

Chop is coming soon! Probably tomorrow or Thursday. She's reeeeeaaaaaadddddy.

I've been sampling buds for about a week. I'm really happy with where she's at, and I'm thinking the timing is right. Just gone a give her one or two more days, and then go all Lizzy Borden on her.

I have no idea what the yield will be, but it's got to be good I think - she's just loaded with buds, and lots of large ones. I am getting a little nervous about the size for jarring them. I might have to bust them up a bit so I don't have to worry about mold. What a great problem to have, though!

I never would have guessed an auto could produce like this one is. Freebie seed and all!

I also have to speculate that the "Exhale" CO2 stuff is working. The tops and buds on this thing are pretty amazing to me, size-wise, and the growth exploded once the CO2 was added. Definitely bigger buds and more of them then most plants I've grown - and doubly amazing that it's on an auto-flower.

The other reason I think it's working is that I ended up with a bit of a Cal/Mag deficiency - which is unusual for my nutrient program and from past experience, but I've heard not uncommon when there is increased CO2 in the environment. Just speculating, but makes some sense to me. I know this much, I'm not going to remove it (Exhale CO2) from my grow space any time soon. :)

Yeaaaaaaaaaaah Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaby! :yahoo:

I can't wait to see how beautiful your plant looks when it's all dried and in jars, which truly is the "best" phase of growth to me! :grinjoint:

Whatever the yield, it's sure to be impressive for a single auto from a freebie seed, that's for sure! :high-five:

I've not heard of increased CO2 creating cal-mag deficiencies, but assuming the CO2 accelerates the growth, I can certainly understand the plant requiring higher nutrient levels, since it would use up the available nutes quicker (generally speaking).

There's a really good article on cal-mag deficiencies HERE but it doesn't really address CO2 as a possible cause.

I'd be interested if there's any info on CO2 effecting cal-mag specifically.

Great work on the grow!

I put a pic of your auto up in front of my autos, just so they know what they are supposed to look like! My mystery auto looks like an indica version of Dr. Grinspoon...

You sir, have raised the bar on what autos can do. :bravo:

She's reeeeeaaaaaadddddy.
Lol, You pass out again brother?? Thats awesome man, that last post had me remembering a few times similar to that!

Thats great news my friend, I'm really anxious to see the #s on her, and a 2 week cure smoke report too. What a great job you did with her in that WF, much props bro!
You really got me thinking about the Exhale too, I mean, whats some Co2 in my bedroom right??

Great work on the grow!

Hi Mr. Krip - I wish I could tell you more about CO2 and cal/mag deficiencies, but it's information that I've gleaned from other growers here. I filed it in my noggin as credible info, but I can't really remember more than that.

But, I'm glad you brought it up, because now I'm wanting to understand it all better. :)

Thanks for the plant love, too. :high-five:
