X Marks the Spot - XLR8's Big Bang Auto Hydro Grow 2011

:circle-of-love: xlr8 and relatives :circle-of-love:

I see old Murphy is at your place now! :) He shows up with relatives at times. :)

I hope you have some time to take care of your girl. She sounds almost
ready. :Namaste:

If some one shows up here, they are in for a big surprise :hmmmm::rollingeyes::yikes::yikes:

It's all gonna be fine bro...the relatives will boogie, you'll chop, and we'll all be jealous as hell for a bit, right? :D

Grow Update - Day 78 from seed, Day 43 flower:

I've only got a little time tonight, so I'm going to use it throwing up some new pictures - I took these last night quick, and they are noticeably "frostier" tonight even. Just didn't feel like retaking them a day later. ;)

I've sampled a couple of small/med size buds last couple of days. It's pretty strong, pretty narcotic - but it starts with a head rush, which might have more to do with them not being quite ready yet. Could be good once it's cured some.

Tricomes are mostly milky. Some clear some amber - but not a lot of amber yet... Now I'm having second thoughts about harvesting this weekend, but I may not have another good window to do it. We'll see.

For fun, I entered it in the plant of the month. I have no illusions - the competition is way too stiff, but I thought it might be fun to participate. So... :cheer::cheer:VOTE BIG BANG AUTO!!:cheer::cheer:

I'm sleepy - will try to get to more posts tomorrow! :)

Hey That Girl is Beautiful xlr8 ! :cheer:
I agree with Mr. Krip, she in POTM material. :high-five:

You've convinced me I should try another auto. Should I veg it for a week or two, or just throw her into bloom? I don't think it makes much difference.

You've had a really good summer grow! :)

OMM, on autos, the plant is "pre-programmed" on how long to veg. You just keep her under 20 hours of constant light/per day through the entire growth cycle and she'll decide when to flower. Since she'll still flower under 20 hours of light, you can grow autos full cycle in your veg chamber (although, you may want different spectrum lights).

Well, thanks Mr. Krip. :)

Well, I think that shot me down. You mean these things don't go 12/12 in bloom?

I could do the 20/4 time while vegging my other plants, even though I don't like that. I use CFLs for veg. I don't really want to have plants blooming in my closet. The last ones didn't do what I wanted. When THsea gets back, I'll just give him the seeds, he wants to grow autos. My goodness. ;)

OMM, that's correct! Because they're "autos" they're genetically programmed to start flowering after a certain time, REGARDLESS of light cycle. This means you can give them much more light while in flower for more rapid growth. It also means, you can't effectively take clones from autos, since the clones will be genetically programmed to flower at the same time as the mom. So, by the time the mom gets big enough to take clones, the clones would go into flower almost immediately. :Namaste:

Hi Again. I went out and found a couple that would do 12/12.
So I might try those. You are absolutely right about 95% of them though. In fact what you said is exactly right, there is just a few odd balls out there. :circle-of-love:

All would work on 12/12, but the end result would be very lacking in the yield department.... It is cool to have smaller autos in your veg tent though, if your start 2-3 every week or two then you have a never ending cycle...whoa i'm tired, goodnight, sorry bout hijackin ur thread X....

OMM, I agree with GT...All autos will flower under 12 hours of light, 18 hours, 24 hours - it doesn't matter because flowering isn't triggered by the light cycles (hence, the "auto-flower"). However, because they're autos and can take much more than 12 hours of light while in flower, it's an opportunity to get much more light to the plant in much less time (which should result in faster development & fatter buds). The side benefit is, because they don't need to be switched to a 12/12 for flower, they can be flowered (but don't need to be!) in the same room/cab as your other plants are vegging.

Well now.....I have an empty grow cabinet. :) I could grow one maybe 3.5' or less. I have some shorties.
Now to see if the breaker will take it.:)

Dont worry X ain't usin it!

Kididng brother X!

But seriously man I really cant believe the growth of that thing, she's beautiful! And ABSOLUTELY POM material, show the community what autos can do bro! I was really against them for the longest time. But I've found a new apreciation for them, thanks to you. Good luck on the contest, and dont feel the need to reply, I know you're busy,:Namaste: just dropping in bro.

Great looking plant XL, I can't wait to start my auto's! good luck with POTM :)

Hey Quix :)

I kinda want to keep my tent the way it is......harvest one and put another one in and just keep it going. I am thinking of how I could grow the autos some where else. Then again I have to think about the extra work involved and if I really want that. :peace:

No worries XL were still following no matter what brother cant wait for the updated pics glad to see harvest time is right around the corner...Good work hope your sneaky tactics avoid the family lol...

Well, the relatives thing went great. Absolutely nothing to worry about, but there shouldn't have been - I'm very confident in my stealth-proofing. It was still nerve racking, and there were plenty of times when someone was less than 10 feet away.

You're right OMM - Murphy LOVES relatives. :)

They aren't quite ready yet, but I'm flushing as we speak. I've been testing buds a little, too. Very narcotic finish - that stands out to me so far. Once the buzz winds down it's like I've been hit with a tranquilizer dart. I don't mind that - there's a spot on my shelf for a few jars full of couch-lock.

I can't wait to trim these - they look like they'll be fun to trim (if there is such a thing - trimming isn't my favorite part of the process...)

Beautiful plant with great looking buds, XLR8! :bravo:

She's definately a worthy POTM entry and you're pics are great! Did you get a new camera, or something?
:welldone:

:thanks: Mr. Krip - Nope, same camera. Just turned off the HPS for a minute and used T5's in the room to light the tent while I took a few pictures. I usually try a little harder to get good pictures toward the end of flower, too. ;)
