X Marks the Spot - XLR8's Big Bang Auto Hydro Grow 2011

XLR8, sorry I missed the last couple of days and it seems you have your nute issue taken care of.

In the future (or before you use your high-priced nutes on a tomatoe!), I wouldn't hesitate to contact AN technical support and ask them directly. I've used them several times and they really are fantastic and very knowlegeable.

Everything else looks like it's going great, my friend, so :goodjob:

Hi xlr8. :)

Sure glad you bought some nutes! Thought we were going to have a riot! :yahoo:

Everyone wants you to be successful ! :high-five:

Nothing wrong with that! I love that about the 420mag community. Almost without exception people go out of their way, sometimes at the expense of considerable time, to help others succeed. Tell me one other hobby where people invest so much time in helping out their compadres like that? 420 mag is a pay it forward community, that's why I spend so much of my time here.

Personally, I welcome all thoughts, opinions, suggestions - every opinion causes me to think and improve what I do. Even if I don't go the route someone suggests, I'm really glad they cared enough to give their input. And I almost always learns something in the end - and that's what it's all about. I'm never going to be in this for anything but providing for myself, with the goal of highest possible quality from the strain.

Plus, I've had (who hasn't) people here save my bacon multiple times by keeping me from doing something boneheaded or telling me I am being a bonehead about what I'm doing (so to speak).

Sheesh. I'm high and rambling! :bong:

Another great suggestion. :high-five:

I'm just keeping them on the shelf for now - I have some bigger fish to fry at the moment. Unfortunately, I'm having some health issues and it's difficult for me to spend much extra time around the grow area right now. More surgery in my future soon. Go ahead and laugh: I'm going to try to schedule surgery around my grow cycles if I can. F**k it, it brings me joy even when I'm hurting. :) I've been keeping surprisingly upbeat, but that'll probably change as it gets closer to happening. Hopefully it will fix some things, though, and then it would be worth it.

Hi xlr8 :)

Actually that was a back handed way of saying you had so much good help. :yahoo:
There is no place like 420, that's why I've been here for years.
I was pretty stoned last night and made a remark about hanging the Exhale and I got suggestions I never even thought of. I'm just happy that we are part of it.
Rambling is good and expected!:thumb:

I understood you and agreed wholeheartedly. Tons of good help!

As far as your exhale - I was going to recommend netting of some sort, btw. :) I like the fruit basket idea.

Grow Update - Big Bang Auto - Day 64 from seed, Day 29 since HPS switch. (18/6 light cycle start to finish)

Had a good opportunity to take some pictures without the HPS, so I took a few. Buds have been getting noticeably bigger every day. :) :) :)

Each day I top off the bucket a little, and I've been checking the PPM afterwards. For example, Last reservoir change was 1550, 2 days later it was 1260, and 2 days after that - 1150, next day 990. In general, my PPM's were probably a tad high, so I'm happy to let it wind down a bit until next res. change.

PH has been wanting to drift down quite a bit (it's that stage I guess), but the water top offs keep it in line (the RO water has a PH of about 7.0) It's been a bit cooler, and the plant seems to be a bit perkier because of it. My high temps now though haven't got over 78f, so I'm pretty happy about that. I'm able to keep it at 75 pretty steady, which is great given the heat and humidity for the time of year.

Sorry to hear about the health issues, Bro! Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery. I think it's a good idea to schedule around your grow cycles so when you're recovering, you have a full supply of meds. You definately don't want to be managing the grow while in pain! My thoughts and prayers are with you! :Namaste:

I sure seem to see alot of Sativa pheno's. I also see a really nice auto flowerer. I hope mine turns out that bushy but the way the weather has been here, I don't see it. But I can hope. Sorry to hear ya are under the weather. I can understand what ya say about sometimes working in your garden keeps your spirits up. I deal with bad chronic pain since 1986. My plats not only help with physical problems, but its also gives alot of pleasure just with the grow. It's like a rehabilitation program. Keep em Green Dude.

xlr8 that girl is in becoming unbelievable ! I think you should start some more. :thumb:

I don't have anymore BBA seeds, but I can't wait to start something else soon. Having said that, I need to wait until I know more a bit more about when my surgery is going to be and how long it will keep me incapacitated, etc before I get too carried away. I should have a better idea of things next week sometime.

I expect the auto to be done in a few weeks or so if you can trust Greenhouse's info. Hey - maybe I can time my surgery so I can get out of harvesting and trimming. My wife's the pro at that part anyway.

I don't think I've ever shared this, but we divide up the responsibility: I'm in charge of growing them, she's in charge of harvest, trimming and drying/curing. I still help with it all and put my 2 cents in, but she's the boss for that part. She's got it down good, too. The last harvest was dried and cured perfectly thanks to her - she had final say on it all, and she nailed it. She also trims 3 times faster and twice as good as me.

She also loves that I participate here, and says she wishes we could hang out with all my friends here. True story!

Yes, I do have the perfect wife, btw. :)

Thanks Mr. K! Unfortunately, I've never managed a grow NOT in pain - but I know what you mean. :) On that note, maybe one of these stupid surgeries will change that fact. One can hope, right?!

I appreciate the kind words a ton my friend. :high-five:

You know, I was just thinking the same thing yesterday as far as the Sativa pheno. I'm so sorry to hear that you've got chronic pain issues as well. I've not been dealing with it nearly as long as you, but I'm in quite a bit of pain nearly all the time anymore. Hopefully, this next surgery will finally be the thing to help. I can't imagine dealing with it for as long as you. Ugh. Growing is absolutely my mental rehab program.

:thanks: for the kind words Norcaliwood. Hopefully the weather cooperates and you get the most out of your BBA - It'll be fun watching yours come along, too.

WOW X!!!:high-five::thumb: REALLY nice pictures today!! And the rate at which shes exploded with buds is incredible!! I'm seriously in awe right now. I have been thinking about doing just one good mother in my 2x2, with clones in the tent, for my next grow. Reason being that the 2x2 space is just too cramped for two moms, although I did ok last time. THAT is how I want to do my one mom. So stand by, I'll be picking your brain for that DIY bucket!!

Also, I cant remember, but how many times did you top her??:welldone:

Norcaliwood, XL, and to all others in the same predicament,

I know what it's like to be in constant pain, parachute accident in 95 initiated my pain, it's like hell sometimes. I'm glad you guys find growing helps you keep your spirits up, and relaxed and it helps with anxiety caused by the pain. my PTSD sucks as well, and i applaud you guys for taking your health issues into your own hands. :bravo:

Kindest regards and respect,
tollieman

:thanks: Quix for bumping the pictures to the next page, and for the kind words.

Actually, she hasn't been topped - topping isn't usually recommended on an auto because auto's are on a timer, so to speak. You can't drag out veg for recovery from topping, and wouldn't see much benefit topping an auto (that's what I'm told, anyway).

I'm learning a lot about the whole autoflower thing. Really seems like it's most important to just avoid anything more than LST, as stress will just limit yield in the end on an auto. There's no such thing as "days in flower" there's just "days". Think of an auto as in flower from day 1, and you don't usually top in flower - at least that's how I think of it (right or wrong). From what I can tell a lot of people frown on even pruning/trimming leaves so I'm just letting her rip ---- au naturale. :)

Yes - this bucket rocks. I'll definitely give you my 2 cents on it when you want it.

Sheesh - we are the cripple crew around here. ;) Pain sucks - and I'm sure PTSD does, too - I don't envy you there. It's nice to have our plants and each other here to make it not soooo bad all the time.

Full on respect and warmest regards right back atcha, brother. :high-five:

Hi xlr8. :ganjamon:

I was reading back a bit and I missed your feeling bad completely. Sounds like your looking at it in a positive way. That auto you have would put any one in a good mood. :yummy: It's a crazy feeling being so positive about a grow and facing surgery at the same time. I kinda have the same feeling. My grow is really making me happy and at the same time feeling terrible about my girl Jo.

You don't have to worry about the rest of your grow,. Your wife sounds so cool. She just takes over the hard part and does it all. That's just great. :yahoo:

I hope that the surgery helps you for real and makes life a bit easier on you.

I know that all the work you do on your set up really hurts you. I certainly can relate to that. Try to think of what's coming as a good thing and you will be better for it. :thumb:
