Wow what size room is that, t looks so open and big. Excellent space there and the girls are looking very happy and getting chunky.I think these are going to be one of those game changer kinda doodads for me on the PITA watering during the winter.
I did the wicks in the method suggested by you guys, and I'll test out that sealed ends thing in a bit.
Here's the girls sitting atop their new elevated homes. I'm hoping this is going to get the humidity in the room up some too. We'll see on that.

LadyC. I forgot to mention that when I got my bases the water indicators did not work properly. They kept getting stuck indicating full even when the bases were nearly empty. I had to give them a little pluck with my finger to make the indicator sink to show the actual water level. The base is the reservoir. The water is pulled in through the wicks to the bottom of the fabric pot. This size holds about a gallon of water, but you can get larger bases that hold over 2 gallons. I am filling mine with a watering can from gallon jugs. There is a post earlier from @Grand Daddy Black where he uses a battery operated siphon from a 5 gallon bucket to fill his bases.
The base has a water level floater gauge included so you can see the level and know when it needs filling.
I singed the ends of my lines in my coco grow and they worked fine. AC Infinity recommends singing them to keep them from unraveling.Well, that didn't take long. I just did the drip test with the wick in a cup of water letting the ends hang in a bowl. One end was singed to seal, and the other end cut at an angle. Both ends are dripping water. So I should be good to go.
When it comes time to replace the wicks, I will not seal them up. I bought extra wick for replacing when needed.
When I put them together, I had to tap the indicator on two of them to shake the little float bar loose inside. Thanks for verifying that for me. So far they are reading well, but I'll just give em a tap now and then if needed. No biggy here. I can see the water level just looking down into the vents, if I have to.LadyC. I contacted AC Infinity and they sent replacements, but they looked just like the ones that I got initially. I haven't got around to trying them to see if they work as advertised.
This was not a show-stopper for me. There are other ways to determine how much water in present, like (duh) taking off the lid and looking inside!
I had to go find some old portable hard drives that I hid my weed photos on. Found them hidden in a food photography folder, with a sub folder for "candy", and a subfolder within that labeled "green candy". LOLFeck - how do you remember all those?
I've been growing for 40+ years and I can only remember a handful of strains
Jack Herer, Green Crack, Northern Lights, Lamb's Breath, Blue Dream, Girl Scout Cookies, White Widow
No idea what the other strains were
I love a bit of nostalgia LadyC!We're going back in time......
I wanted to find pics of that THC Bomb plant. This was in my basement grows back then (2016). I did not do any training to that plant, and it grew to 7 foot tall. It just went crazy and I had to bend the top down to keep it from hitting the light that I could not move up any more. That was a Mars Hydro blurple at the time.
I made seeds from THC Bomb and crossed it with Master Kush. The last photo is the cross after trimming and giving a bit of Christmas cheer. LOL
Sure wish I had all of those seeds now.
It's surprising how quickly, and young, they will sucknthe water up from the base. At your size/age, I'd be doing half topwater and half in the base. Might only take 2 waterings that way and then off to the races with the bases.will probably continue to top water a little until the plants are bigger and I'm sure the root structure has fully reached the bottom of the pots.
Thanks! I did make sure the wicks were soaked before I put the pots on them. It's surprising how quickly, and young, they will sucknthe water up from the base. It does help to soak the wicks before putting the pots on the bases
You are correct. I just found that in the user manual that comes with the bases. So, I will just continue to singe those ends as I replace when needed.I singed the ends of my lines in my coco grow and they worked fine. AC Infinity recommends singing them to keep them from unraveling.
I share your point of view there. I might just add it every third watering or so, I'll see how the plants react. Just seems that I get that leaf yellowing early on since I've been using the FFOF soil, and it's been said that it needs extra cal/mag.The tsp of epsom per gallon is a good dose to fix mag def. I wonder if a constant dose is good though? I fear after a while balance may go off.
Let's see it work then! I'm curious!I share your point of view there. I might just add it every third watering or so, I'll see how the plants react. Just seems that I get that leaf yellowing early on since I've been using the FFOF soil, and it's been said that it needs extra cal/mag.
