Visualize Whirrled Peas: A Perpetual Garden By 013

Guys thanks for hanging out and throwing down a comment or three, apologies but my garden has been total suckage for a while. It’s time to put the green back in the garden. Since the oil filled heater debacle I’ve been running the room cooler than normal and it’s delayed progress fer sure. Plus I‘ve had mucho other crap brewing that demanded attention but I will get the temps back on track pronto.

Tra, seriously honey your garden is lush but I’m here to tell ya you’ve got critters in your weed patch.... and mighty cute ones at that!!! Hope your Easter was chill and maybe you got to see a glimpse of the good life thru the eyes of that little kicker and hair twirler in your life.
LOL

Truth be told, I put a special filter on that to make it appear prettier and I took it just for you :)

That critter was an Easter present to my little kicking hair twirler. A funny, his father was a kicking hair twirler too. He had a magical morning, which meant I had a magical morning. He was so excited when he discovered the easter bunny came to visit. He calls me GG. “GG look! GG look!”.

Spring is bursting at the seams, since Sunday it would appear as if we skipped spring and jumped right to summer, I’m thrilled about that. However as expecited I noticed a huge uptick of flying pests. Spotted something flying near the plants, plus there was the first fungus gnat of the season plastered on a sticky trap. The bigger of the blue dream girls has a small hole chewed in one leaf..... grrrr freaking lil commie bitches ..... have a little Safers soap on your salad.

The plants have been standing in a constant breeze for weeks now, there are 3 fans going. Had hoped it was enough to deter any flyers

Came home the other day and the grow room was cold, checked my oil filled heater and it was cold, still plugged in and the fans were running so I knew the circuit had juice. Here’s what I found....

See the burn marks apparently the oil filled heater had been arcing, I’m really happy this happened on concrete and not in a tent or this would be a totally different post.
I'm decommissioning mine after reading this. I know so many people now that have had close calls with those oil filled ones and I was told to go with something else so now im making the swap to something else.

Welcome!

I’ve been lurking here for months. For context: I visited here early in my first growing adventure in late 2019 but kinda found it confusing because advice was coming from everyone. Soon I wound up on another grow site that featured one or two voices but they pushed hydro growing format. I went ass first down that rabbit hole & killed nearly every strain that @SeedsMan makes. I wasted a bunch of money too buying specialized crap that I didn’t need. Just for reference - I don’t have a problem with hydro methods just not my cup of THC. Finally in desperation I cruised thru a couple thousand pages on 420 Magazine and nixed the net pots and got my groove on with soil. I’m a country man, out here we grow shit in dirt. Sooo glad I made the switch from hydro to soil, from that other site to 420 Magazine. My first plant was a whopping success with a wet harvest weight totaling 933 grams. That harvest would not have been possible without 420 Magazine. I’m on my third and fourth run right now.

The purpose of this journal is the perfect trifecta...
1) to effectively join the 420 community
2) develop better growing skills
3) to document these grows

I’m an indoors grower but would love to do an outdoor guerilla grow. It’s early in the growing season here so I’m jonesing for a couple of super secluded spots. Here is the indoor setup.

12 X 12 Bloom Room
2 - Mars SP-250
1 - 600 watt HPS
2 - T-5’s with LED bulbs
2 - 12 inch fans
1 - 9 inch fan

4 X 4 Veg Tent
1 - 315 CMH
2 - T-5’s with LED bulbs
1 - 12 inch fan
1 - 8 inch fan

Temps 70 to 80 Farvignuven with lights on 68 to 72 degrees with lights off
Humid 50 to 75% but can alter up or down with humidifier or dehum.

Soil
Peat 2 parts
Perlite 1 part
EWC, rabbit pellets, mycos, lime, oyster shell flour, rock dust, minerals, bone meal, kelp, dog hair, biochar, compost from forest floor.

Going for Water Only Soil but ya gotta throw some fish ferts and eye of newt on occasion. I’m gonna shut up now and seal the deal with a photo. The photo sucks but at least it’s not blurple!!!

Thanks for stopping by.... You all come back now - ya hear?
Hells yea dude .

The korean sex swing was built to hold 2 plastic tubs either 12 gallons or 16 gallons.... however for the LOS run had hoped for at least 20 gallons of soil which imho would be pushing the weights limits of the rope ratchets holding it in place. So we upped the number of rope ratchets and improved the attachment points but still wasn’t satisfied.

Out with the old, in with the new - removed one of the cheapie plastic corner shelving units and took out the korean sex swing. Have added a bigger plant stand at 8 foot long by 3 foot wide and placed it at an offset in the 12 X 12 room so the tent can be moved into the room for the winter season - this should help with heating and the tent side can easily be blacked out to eliminate any light leaks that would impact the flowering side of the space.

Drip pans fit underneath on low tables. This will easily accommodate larger bags but for now the grow room is trashed while making renovations.

Yippie yay finally the new 30 gallon grow bags are in place, filled with LOS and watered in. Not a fan of the white plastic shelving units under the bags but figured it was a good way to promote air flow evenly underneath. The cover crop is soaking now, beneficial mites & nematodes have been ordered. Need to move lights, dial the environment back in and tidy up. The sequencing may sound off but wanted the heavy bags of soil in place and watered in so the cover crop can be established before the insects arrive.

Hey Smkriz! What’s happening in your corner of the world? How is your grow coming along? I’m so happy that you stopped by, grab a chair and pull up a pipe or cone!! I know - right? That could have been real ugly!

What up Colby? I’m thrilled to have you join in. Yeah that would have torched a tent for realz. These critters have gotten a free ride munching on my leaves. I’m hoping this LOS with beneficial critters will decimate any pests

013 thanks for the idea in the conversation. I'm afraid "Red is Dead". The recent cold snap has snow and sub-freezing temps in SE Michigan. I'll get home tonight and be able to take a good look at her in the sunlight tomorrow. I'm mega-bumm'ed.
