Nice discussion folks, That chart above is pretty neat. Trying to soak up as much of this info as I can about ph and the dead and live soils. Maybe I should make like a binder with a couple dividers for some of these bits of gold you people are dropping. :nomo:

Maybe this chart can help you guys out

Lime, being Calcium, is generally used to buffer mediums and if to much is available in relation to your added nutes, this chart shows what happens:

it inhibits the uptake of: Mg, Zn, B, P, Fe and K

I grow in organic super soils I make from scratch with peat and do my own buffering so don’t run into these kinds of problems but I thought this might be helpful to you guys.
WTF is that. Looks like some plans for global domination. My brain can't handle looking at so many criss-crossing lines lol

Some good info on here MrS though the last few pages have made me appreciate the fact that I'm currently running coco lol.

Seriously though, good job.

Hope you're well Sausage

Me too! I‘m so glad you shared that Prof :) and Baron :)

I understand how it is intended to work but I can’t read it. Visually it just undoes my brain, even though I understand the concept behind it. It’s been years and I’ve never admitted that before - I’m a gardner who cant read Mulder’s chart! Thankfully in a good balanced organic soil it doesn't really come up as something the end user needs to know, phewf!

think we mostly focus on the antagonism (green) lines.
Actually the thing about stimulation has just suddenly become very interesting to me it’s the first time I’ve seen this written outside of 1 or 2 conversations on here...

For example, increased nitrogen levels create a demand for more magnesium.

This is the kind of demand we can sometimes see in late flower when leaves ‘canoe’ :thumb: ...it can be Indicative of a ‘demand’ for Mg - so the relationship to nitrogen is very interesting.

trying to reduce the nitrogen if the high amount starts to require bumping the magnesium. Seems like it would all end in an upward spiral otherwise.
Yes that’s exactly what I was thinking :thumb: ... when less really is actually more!

Next time i see ‘canoeing’ leaves in late flower (or anytime i guess), I will aim to reduce the nitrogen and see what happens. There’s also likely a balance point where you could add Mg to the right amount account for an increase in demand - the upward spiral would arise if that went over...

It’s a good pathway to understanding the difference between a deficiency and an increased demand :)

Hey guys, just a little input on Mulder’s chart, I guess I should have included the ”write up“ that went with that chart, a lot of it was trying to point out that more often than not, when we see a deficiency, it’s actually because with have an excess of another antagonistic nutrient.

They use iron as an example, see below

As Amy said, we organics growers tend not to have to worry about this so much as the plants roots regulate the pH of the local soil zone around them to take what they need. One reason LOS growers have fewer issues, we aren’t trying to out think old Mother Nature who has millions of years more experience than we do lol

Hey everybody...
it seems I forgot about my journal for a few days. On that note here's a little update before I forget to post it. Not much to report. I think my GG is a photo and not an auto. I haven't really trained any plants except the GG as you'll see the difference between caring and not caring about plants. My heart was never in this round but I fell in love with the GG and have been making her my golden girl of the tent.
The DDA is showing the true colors that we have grown to love. The Zkittlez is one big fat bud with a couple of runners on the side. The LAK has a funny fat funky bud in the middle and two towers on the sides. What a fucked up bunch of plants... that are probably gonna get me high as a kite :Rasta:

The Gorilla Zkittles has the Sauga-Green

Beautiful towers!

The GG is lush!
The GG is a megacrop dream come true right now. The towers are building nicely and overall the plants are OK. Not to the sticky standards I like but there's still time.
Thanks Felipe!

I hope you are kidding me, lol. She's got lettuce leafs and looks like a piece of shite. I think you meant the GG, which really is the only sauga green in the tent :cheesygrinsmiley:
How goes the battle Professor? Getting any warm weather yet?

EDIT: WTF is a Gorilla Zkittlez? You messing with me as it sounded normal 'til I re-read it.

Lol another good update that comes with a laugh, one of the main reasons I come back to this journal lol. I’m like whatever with my shorter plant also lol but I do like my stretchy one. She gets my all attention unlike the “meg” plant lol. She’s just meh lol
