The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

awww Lambs Q. It must be almost Spring. : - )

I know, it's about time for Spring. I'm ready to have the windows open all day. Good to see you Keltic.

Good afternoon SweetSue. :) Your ladies look lovely this morning! :thumb: I like the look of your pots. Are they easy to reuse once you have harvested? How would one clean them out if so?

Good day Noob. The auto ones are no-tills, so they never get taken apart. Cut at the soil line and plant the next one right behind. The photos grow in Doc's HB soil, so they do get emptied. I usually flip them inside out and beat the dirt out of them, then refill with the next soil and plant. They can be washed, but I don't bother. I also don't grow for anyone but family.

So, you just keep growing in the same soil of the previously harvested plant? Doesn't that limit the room for new roots? Have you noticed a change in growth since you have been doing this? I'm sorry for all the questions. I'm sure this has been covered somewhere on this site. But, I wouldn't know where to even begin. Remember, I'm just a noob. :;):

:laughtwo: You're just too cute. Thanks for the chuckle. I startled the people next to me when I laughed right out loud. Ask anything. The roots degrade much more quickly than you think. They add to the nutrient value of the soil and help keep the soil aerated. Those amendment I add in the weekly drenches - the fulvic acid, humid acids, aloe and such - contribute to the tilth. Remember, I also have worms tilling the soil. It all ties together to create soil you can grow excellent cannabis in with little effort.

Some of my heartiest specimens have grown in those pots. I've seen no appreciable difference in yield between my LOS no-tills and the HB soil. The quality of the harvest is comparable, IMO, and mine is the one that matters until I can begin testing.

That's been on my mind all day. It's kinda unethical to give medicinal oil to someone without having it tested. Geez, nothing's easy, is it? Without testing I'm throwing darts from a distance with a blindfold. With the information coming out now about the importance of the terpenes and flavonoids, the test results become more significant every day. But what options exist for someone living in a state shackled by prohibition? Frustration. *sigh*

Subbed...and late...Its going to take me days to catch up. Also checking out the Dark Devil grow. Its such a beautiful strain. I need to get a plant to take off soon or I will be broke and buried in beans...its an addiction isnt it?

Welcome mouser, to the journal and to the :420: community at large. Yes indeed, that Dark Devil Auto is an impressive strain. This is my favorite addiction. :laughtwo: There's something special about growing cannabis and it hooks you with the very first seedling. You hint at germination challenges? Anything we can help with?

If she's going to insist on being lanky I'm going to have to bring out more lights. I added another 46 watts of cool (5000K) to the underskirt.

Challenges...hmm...more like I jumped in before getting all my ducks in a row. Tried germinating in an aerogarden, broke the tap root during transplant, dealt with a bit of mold, still havent killed her, but she is surely stunted. Im just trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible while I continue to torture her to life :D

For the record, she is a NL Auto. YOur plants are beautiful and I just aspire to someday reach that level.

Thanks for sharing.

"...while I continue to torture her to life." :laughtwo: Well-phrased mouser.

Thanks for the compliment, but I don't yet consider myself in the class of my favorite cultivator's here, though many of them mentor me through my grows. How lucky am I? Northern Lights Auto, a good strain. Great buzz. Learn with this one and germinate happier plants next time. Life's one big science experiment anyway. I just wish the seeds weren't such a financial risk.

I feel like I'm so far behind. lol Once I get this grow dialed in I plan to change to s different style and different medium. I want to experiment with as many different methods so I can find out what works best for me and my needs. Luckily, I can document my experiments on this site so others can learn from my mistakes.

Thanks for the info Sue. You rock :passitleft:

Be sure to try PeeJay's soil mix. In fact, I'd recommend it as one of your initial investigations. Great soil mix.
