The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

Cytokinin from corn SST promotes lateral growth vs vertical growth due to auxins. Corn SST works great to cut down on stretch, additional budsites, and early trichome development. I like using it for the first few weeks of flower. It also makes a great veg feed, I like adding fresh aloe and ful-power/tm7(occasionally).

Gosh, I wish that'd occurred to me before she shot right up there, but not a bad idea 36. The autos are at the perfect point now for a corn SST, aren't they? That'll be the next drench. I've grown autos from the beginning so you'd think I'd have this all worked out, but not quite yet.

I already use the aloe and FulPower weekly and TM7 monthly. Soil structure. Thanks for the reminder on the SST.

Hi Sue, the girls look great! Sorry it took so long to reply about your question on Critical Mass. My experience with it was very positive. It is very strong, great for relaxing, yet is also a very upbeat and social high. It did wonders for my arthritis & back pains, it had no anxiety to it, and when I was ready to crash I smoked a couple of bowls and presto, change-o I slept like a baby.

Thank you Bangabong. I really appreciate that. :circle-of-love:

The things you guys come up with just blows my mind! I have been struggling with my shorter tent would love to try the broomstick method.

Also a quick question, any tips on drying? I have read this and read that try this tried that and I still seem to get a grassy smell. This time since I am taking a little break after grows I am drying in my tent. Have a small fan below the harvest blowing on low. Its not blowing on them but across the bottom of them. I also run the exhaust fan once every 4 hours for about 10 min.RH is anywhere from 60-45, has been a little drier than normal here so keeping it around 60 has been a little hard. Now I have to say this is better than last time when I dried in the spare bathroom but I still notice a slight grassy smell. With this leave after a nice cure? My first grow seemed to get a little milder after a month in jars. Really just seeing what I can improve on so I'm not stuck with jars of hay.

Grassy smell. That could be caused by poor genetics or something lingering in the plant from nutrients. I believe a good bud washing improves flavor. Also, I read early on to dry in dark, cool places with good ventilation. DrZiggy calls this slow and low.

RH of 60% is what I use as my target in the jars and the dry is dependent on whatever you have. I jar when a stem can be snapped crisply. Lots of good information on this site. Searching, digging and just cruising around will give you other ideas of the harvest, the dry and the cure. These steps are as important as light, selection, and the grow.

The longer you cure the less grassy smell you have. The cure is one of the most important steps for the serious gourmet smoker. :laughtwo: it's really amazing how the quality of the product improves over time. Most of us consume faster than we grow, so our harvests get minimal cures.

Rover, sorry I missed this.

If I may, I don't know your environment however, my experience would recommend no fan. Unless your air is extremely stagnant, which I think is unlikely, I would kill the fan and let them dry as slow as possible. Leave a little crack in the tent and call it a day.
You want those nugs to take about 4 - 15 days of drying. I've never personally exceeded 7 days with my environment but nothing less than 4.
Drying is also a form of Decarboxylation which is beneficial for the THC to maximize its potency. I read somewhere that a solid cure can push out up to 15% of the remain THC!! The idea behind the cure is to slow that dry process as much as possible -without molding- with regular burpings.
If you're curious I have a couple videos that cover drying, curing and burping. Please check them out my man!

Daily Update: Day 35 &37

First off, MagicJim and Pigeons....... :hugs:

It's so reassuring to know that so many talent cultivators cover my space when I'm not here. Thank you both. Excellent responses.

Another quick run through. No drenches, sprays or whatnot to deal with today, just a bit of tucking and restraining, working for level canopies. I forgot to mention that I raised the Med GOM 1.0 (on the right) up to the level of the others. I can't explain why that took me so long any more than you all can explain why one of you didn't tap me on the shoulder and say "Susan honey, about that poor plant begging to be closer to the light..." :laughtwo: Ancient history now and gunny sacking is not permitted on the premises. LOL!

On the far right of the Auto Jack Herer you can see I tied the top down. I want those side branches to have some chance of catching up. Tucking and bending will do the job with the rest from now on. This part I'm comfortable with. I quite enjoy getting my hands in there and adding touch to the equation. I strongly suspect that communication through touch affects the eventual outcome. Tell me you don't have love flow from yourself to your own plants when you get in there. That you don't have moments when you're emotionally overwhelmed with gratitude that this plant is working so hard to reward you. You want to believe that energy flow has no effect, you're welcome to do so. I like my romantic version better. :battingeyelashes:

I left Fantasmo Express alone today. Just a loving caress and a bit of crooning. LOL!

They look like little sentries in there, don't they? :laughtwo: I'm staying out of their way and wondering if the Critical Mass (on the right) will ever need a drink. Three weeks now and she looks like she was just watered.

image8741.jpeg

image8742.jpeg

Dark Devil Auto (Day 35) is now 20" and began getting her tops brushed every morning to slow down that vertical climb and start beefing up her blossoms. This is the point where I always look at them and wonder how the hell it's going to catch up to my expectations, and then in about two weeks I'm stunned at the change.

image8743.jpeg

Shes looking healthy and rarin' to go.

image8744.jpeg

And life moves on. Such easy plants to grow.

Alright guys. You. Joy. You know the drill. :battingeyelashes: I played around here so much yesterday that I never got Callanetics going, so the time is NOW! I don't know if I ever mentioned, I maintain a thread dedicated to Callanetics in Off Topics. It's basically my personal log with thoughts on the movements and my excitement at how they're sculpting my body into something this old girl hasn't seen in too many years. Feel free to stop by sometime.

Think I'll start off with a few more hits of this DeLahaze that's kicking my butt right now after four tiny hits. It's been curing since November 29. Smooth, tasty, potent. This is why you baby the cure. I'm looking forward to trying that "Low and Slow" technique Ziggy's playing with these days. The man's a mad genius cultivator and chef. Always pushing the envelope and exploring the unknown.

I'll see you all later today. I'll be running through the yards to catch up some. Thanks for stopping. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

This is why we grow.

DeLahaze, three month cure

image8745.jpeg

I like my chances of growing for oil.

image8746.jpeg

I'm down to just bits of DeLahaze. I've been trying to hang on to some this long, knowing it'd mature into something spectacular.

It did. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Daily Update: Day 36 &38

I woke up this morning thinking about planting seeds. It must be time. :laughtwo: I'll be looking over options today and dropping seeds tomorrow and get this grow started on the perpetual path. I believe I'll do a couple taster pots as well, to drop into the photo tent and just let them go from there. Plant them in the tiny pots for some recreational variety. I have so many seeds that I won't necessarily be using for oil, but I want to taste.

A quiet day in the garden.

The auto tent.

image8809.jpeg

Fantasmo Express is staying low. She may not have been a good candidate for this type of training. Still lots of time to go verticle.

image8811.jpeg

image8812.jpeg

Med GOM 1.0. Plugging away. Not getting much taller, unfortunately, but if she can pack on two ounces at this height I won't complain. Get with it little one.

image8813.jpeg

image8814.jpeg

Ahhh.... the Auto Jack Herer. This one's going to be the star of this tent. Can you see it? Yep. Star power all over the place.

image8815.jpeg

A little creative tucking and bending, like tucking the tallest branch under the lowest as demonstrated here, is all I'll need to level out the canopy. I'm getting to enjoy that part of the challenge.

image8816.jpeg

She's gonna be a beast. :slide:

CBD Critical Cure.

image8820.jpeg

So heautiful. I'm counting the blades and thinking about the 11-bladed THC Bombs TheNuttyProfessor has growing in his space. Hmmmmm...... His soil mix is in another realm from mine. The man cooks the most incredible brews for his plants that you think "No way!" Then you look at his plants and wonder.....

This girl's doing real well with her soil.

image8821.jpeg

Critical Mass is still getting by on water she got almost a month ago. I can't believe the drought-resistance of this strain.

image8822.jpeg

Yeah..... Look at her getting ready to go. I think by the end these two are going to fill every available space in this tent.

image8823.jpeg

Dark Devil Auto (Day 36) I'm not a fan of spindly. How did this one get so far away from me? Geez. She's healthy though, so we'll see what she does by harvest. Next one I'll top early. Live and learn. I'm brushing the tops with a large chopstick every morning to encourage lateral development over vertical growth.

image8824.jpeg

image8825.jpeg

No one caught this? I'm surprised guys. The eye for detail is usually faster with you all. :laughtwo: This spontaneous germination is a Lamb's Quarters, growing with the Med GOM 1.0. Lamb's Quarters have proven to be beneficial companions with cannabis, and I'm thrilled one chose to bless the pot growing medicine I'll probably process into oil for that small child who's mother is so desperate. Almost like a positive sign of things to come.

image399.png

See all those trichomes being born? :yahoo:

i love this hobby. :circle-of-love:

image400.png

*contented sigh* All's well with the world.

I sincerely hope your weekend is off to a stellar beginning. For some reason we have cloudy skies today. :laughtwo: Grab all the hugs you can and spread that joy that's bubbling up inside you. I'll be seeing you around. I've a new thread to design, a special project. More about that as it comes together. Haha! That'll make eight personal journals for me. And you wonder why I don't get around as much anymore. LOL!

Later guys. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Ahh, but I think I finally see some wilt. :yahoo: I bet she'll be ready for a drench tomorrow. :cheesygrinsmiley:

:goodjob:

Give that man a gold star! :laughtwo: I had a sense you'd catch that, so I didn't mention it in the post. Well done Graytail. LOL!

Thank you for the compliment Master Graytail. You've taught me well. There's no appropriate curtsy emoji. :battingeyelashes:
