Dark Devil Closet Re-Do
I've been looking at her these past few days and thinking about the set up. The light definately needed to go higher before it started to stress the plant, which meant a complete pull out and reconfiguration.
Thankfully, I had a piece of black pipe laying around, just the length needed to fit the closet. Whew! That was a godsend.
That was more difficult to pull off than you'd think just looking at it. Juggling all that into place with only me to hoist all that weight ........ Let's just say I almost cried in relief to get it done. Pretty proud of myself for not giving up too.
The light panel is now the recommended 24" above canopy.
Isn't she beautiful? She's at about 22" high now, and seems to have stopped going verticle. I'll keep brushing her tops for a week or so to make sure. She's liking the extra light.
Then I turned my attention to the SWICK. I needed to split the perlite between the 10 gallon LOS pots, so I filled one basin and removed the pot from the crate to sit the fabric right in contact with the perlite.
In doing so I discovered that the crate had shifted deeper than I'd realized and the bottom of the pot is saturated. This may explain the gangly height. It's done now, and I'll just have to work with what I have. The saturation will take care of itself. The laws of physics are pretty firm here and gravity will take care of my oversight.
All done. I bet she resurges in the next couple days, particularly after the aloe/coconut water drench scheduled. Just let it be lateral instead of verticle.
Now, on to the Med GOM 1.0. I ran to the store and found another basin for that pot's SWICK reservoir.
l'll be back. You all continue on your joyful path while I work and spread more of that joy around.
