The Hexapus's Garden

G'day weasel :passitleft: how's things mate?

Thanks for your input, WC! This was my first try at pollinating weed. I'll keep my fingers crossed until I think she's done. She is a mislabeled seed, and is more Sativa than Indica, which means she may take longer to do her thing. I have BBL pollen saved now, so may try again with a BBL lady I put into flower late in July. I have the perfect branch picked out. ;-)

I no longer have a half decent camera, especially one that can cope with the hps lights in the flowering room. But I did get out the old one, which is not very good, and dragged a couple of the smaller plants into the veg room for pics where the lighting's a little better.

Like every plant in the grow right now, and myself, she's a bit mangy looking but still trooping along. She yellowed up a bit in early flowering, got over fed a bit, etc.

It occurred to me that this one is getting close to done. I'll leave her another week or so though.
It's interesting how similar the Thai Stick, the Mama Thai, and their cross are. Exact same smell and appearance except the Mama Thai probably will have the biggest buds I think. No sign so far that the Thai Stick is going to fatten up much, and the Mt/TS is a little smaller than I expected as well. It's nice having all this Thai in my life right now. I feel like the grow is taking on some interesting changes as I move towards much more variety and less scrogging. Also my veg room is almost full finally. Another week or two and the flower room will be full as well. Crawling back towards a decent garden again

:hmmmm: I suppose I should get some sleep. 7 am and still up..... Goodnight friends.

Good. You should have copious amounts of your favorite strain. I've finally decided that all this strain hunting is ludicrous. I have a couple that really do it for me, so why not grow as many out as possible for a few runs and build the stock up, THEN play with other strains. I'd like to figure out how to get 4+ oz out of every Dark Devil Auto. So out of the blue it hits me that I'd get further along that path if I did a few monocultures.

I love your pictures. It's fascinating how the cross goes to those long, pointed tips. I've had that happen in my garden with a strain I got seed of from a grower who pollinated by accident. When they grow for bag appeal these get tossed as not pretty enough, but I find the inadvertent crosses in my collection to be some of the most surprisingly delightful buzzes.

Yeah it also makes me scared to start new strains because I feel the urge to clone everything and make backup plants which becomes a large area of work and fussing around associated with each new plant. This time I'm trying to just let the dtw ones grow and be themselves, and not be a strain hunter. I'll order more of the seeds if one seems extra special.

All the Thai plants have those exact buds Sue. With the Mama Thai I often used to snip the tips to back build them. It worked great on the Mama Thai- made big blobular fluffy buds, which were impressively large and strange looking.
Which gives me an idea. I think I'll back build a couple of the Thai Stick buds, just for fun.

Geez my night has become day. I should make some effort to sleep...did I say that already?

I keep trying to get back to daytime living, but it keeps slipping into night. Do you think some of us are just programmed like that? My creative energies fire up significantly after midnight. So much of my best stuff gets written at 4AM and sunrise is as common a sight through my windows as sunset. I really find it fascinating that I function so well on so little sleep. What sleep I get must be deep. I'm out as soon as my head hits the pillow.

Haha! I've discovered that indicas don't effect me like everyone else. I really have to just face it and give them up. I don't like waking up feeling cloudy, know what I mean?

WC: I get my best pics by turning off most, if not all, the lights while taking pictures, and use the auto flash on my camera. I have a decades-old digital camera, but this might work on older cameras.

If I was yer mama I would be telling you that functioning without adequate sleep is not only unhealthy physically and of course mentally as well, but holds back from ones full potential mentally and of course physically as well.

Sleep requirements are gonna be the next big health kick, get yers now, while you still can, that sleep stuff will be flyin off the shelves,

Heya sue,, cheers to you and yours, me yappin all in fun of course, but, I love sleep, I sleep like a baby, about eight hours every night,, but i am a morning person, at my best then, early to bed and early to rise, yep, that be me and the missus

Sue, I have my first plant to make oil from near ready for harvest outside,, i will see you in school soon teach

Weasley,, good to see you busy friend,, lovin those thais, indeed, a lot, I have a nice one, mama thai/Thai Stick cross, same as last one, about half way through flower, still the best plant I have growed,, love it to pieces,, cheers from the okanagan friend,,

I hear ya about wanting to clone every new strain, I do the same, so suckin it at cloning right now tho, I have clones in dirt, rockwool, and just had me bubbler Goin too, success percentage bitin it bad, even rockwool, my latest attempt, yuk

I dont have room to clone everything, but i do it anyway, try at least

I might have to buy some lemon haze seeds, tho I really do not want to give them greedies my money, but if I can not reveg my last lemon haze plant then the strain will be lost to me, and i really love super lemon haze, smell, taste, looks, it has it all, good producer too,

Cheers agin friends,

Sue when I'm forced to stick to a 'normal' routine involving (shudder) getting up in the morning -I can do it, but only barely. I end up almost constantly sleep deprived and stressed about the next impending morning.
The instant that I have the option- I'll stay up all night. The more fun I'm having the less I want to go to sleep.
It's in the daytime, especially the afternoons, that I most often hear every molecule of my being crying out for sleep.
It probably doesn't take a genius to figure it out. Clearly I need a robot butler, and a robot babysitter to tend to my kid.

I'm so happy to know that I'm not the only one who doesn't like the way indica affects me. Too bad it took me 30 years of trying before I finally figured it out and (99%) gave it up.

I know- I haven't failed to notice that health experts and other well rested sadists just love to clamor and gloat about how we should be sleeping more and how I'm going to be paying out the ass later for my crimes against nature.

Yawn....

My cloning rate is pretty sucky lately too Nivek. As I've said- my latest pet theory about it is - temps. As in temperatures should be around 75 degrees. A cutting with its stem sitting in a moist yet aerated environment will sit there a long time. And eventually it should root, if temps are right. Also it should be nute deprived- not sitting in a fertilized medium. Cloning gel helps.
At least I think all that stuff I just said is true.

It's amazing how long they can sit there
before they die...

It is indeed, three four weeks even, my bubbler too, three weeks easy, then maybe a root, most likely not tho, sad face, and in soil, same thing, I actually broke down and bought rooting gel, not helping tho, yet, aargh

I agree with your conclusion about it being a temp issue, tho I thot higher temps were needed, why heating pads are available for cloning, but i refuse to add more electricals to my operation, so i shall struggle along

Sure happy I made all the seeds I did last spring, usin em now, lemon haze/afghani cross, the sweetest bud I have grown yet, not sweet as in groovy, sweet as in sugary smelling, soo sweet, yum, like candy, the best kind,, drooling now

I'm sure that higher temps aren't needed. It's just that lower temps also aren't needed. Especially down in the wanna-be root zone, where a heating pad could be handy to keep them from getting a chill.
Under the hexapus I have a lemon skunk cross growing, by way of someone who may or may not be named Sandy. Haven't detected a lemony smell off of it yet.
I'll add some lemony citrusy ones to my next seed order. That and some CBD strains. There was one called ultra-grapefruit that sounded very interesting too.

Ok, now, did you mean a lemon 'haze' cross by way of someone who may or may not be sandy?? Cuz iffin ya did mean lemon haze, by way of blah blah, then we may both be growing thar particular strain together, as I have just yesterday put one of those to flower, I am and will be watching these close for hermying, that sandy is a nasty bit and i dont trust er, nope, not one bit. I have another sandy cross plant, same age as the one I just put to flower, might go outside maybe,

Cool to be growing the same plants together,, cheers weaseley, oh, and we both be growing mama thai/ Thai stik too,, haha, we be twins nearly

Weasie the girls are looking awesome. How much longer before harvest?

I think the Thai Stick is supposed to be another 7 weeks or so still. Mama Thai will be another 8 or 9, and the Mama Thai x Thai Stick is nearly ready so I'll harvest her in the next couple weeks. Harvest- that magic word.
I think it's really cool that we are both producing Thai stick seeds, and Potchimp too. Nice to keep those plants growing. I'll spread mine around to as many people I can find who want to grow an 18 week flowering strain. Not very many...

hey WC , glad to hear you are only 7 weeks away !!!! may i inquire as to where you got "thai stick " seeds and if are they auto's or photoperiod / ?............. may your yields be large and may you have fields of trichromes wc , bb and nivek !!!!!:thumb::Namaste:

Cbgb, I bought the seeds from Ace. They've discontinued the strain though. Probably not many people want to nurse a finicky willow bush along for 18 weeks of flowering no matter how good the smoke may be. The kind of plant that makes more sense growing outdoors in its natural habitat. Definitely not an auto- it seems like about as opposite to an auto as you can get. Not that I've ever grown an auto, or harvested a Thai Stick yet. I'm just hoping to limp it along to the finish line without screwing it up too bad. Then I would try and 'grow a better one next time' but I'm learning not to offend the gods by saying stuff like that.
