The Capn's Simple Hydroponics Cook Off - Goal: 1lb Indoors - Journal

The Capn, I have been getting Orange from my local dispensary (well no more since I am harvesting) and it is pretty dam good. The buds are fat and dense and high is great. Assuming it is the same strain you may have just gotten unlucky on your seed phenos. But obviously I do not know how it grows, but the grower keeps growing it, they have had it for last 9 mos since I started using them. In last months NOTM the 'orange' i entered was actually this strain, but 420 girl got rid of the from the name cause she said Orange is responsible for millions of deaths. But I guess AK-47 is still ok, but whatever.

This Critical+ by dinafem is like 3 weeks in and already stickier than im used to, they also have an awesome fruity smell and i am a$$uming its from its Skunk heritage.
6weeks to go so 6 more updates, consider this tomorrows update.
Thanks for stopping by now go smoke a bowl:bigtoke:

Thanks for the info, crawdad. I've seen a couple grows of A.O. and the buds were decent size as well. This growing style tents to keep buds smaller so that may be contributing to it. I agree with 420girl mostly... breeders are going to need to "get real" if they really want to make a difference in the medical world. I may be wrong, but in the future, I predict breeders will be zero'ing in on certain characteristics, aimed at treating conditions, such as the "charlottes web", high in cbd and low in thc. I highly doubt any Dr will prescribe, "orange" or "ak-47" to patients. ha ha

Like I said, I won't complain though, it's not hard to get a pound even with the small buds and the effect is great.

Are you breeding, or just strains new to you? I assume the method of taking clones back to veg while flower mom is working well for you as you've went through that cycle 5 times. This was something I wondered about, so thanks for clearing that up for me. You da man Cap!

I'll leave the breeding to the breeders for now. These are 3 new stains of seeds I got. I'll be talking about these in my BLOG soon.

>>> such as the "charlottes web", high in cbd and low in thc.

That was a great documentary, and very powerful! The media actually brought up some good points in Sanjay's 'NEW' perspective on marijuana reformation! Watch, "charlotte's web" is going to gain a lot of attention in the medicinal world, and those 4 brothers knew it from the start!

It's been a little more than 3 weeks since I switched the orange to 18/6.

Now I'm running: 800-850ppm and still making tea once a week. I am top feeding for 15 minutes, 3 times a day. The plant is using about 10 gallons a week. Every saturday, I pump water out of the res (leaving about 4-5 gallons behind) and then add about 7 gallons for a total res capacity of ~12 gallons. I top off on Wednesdays with pure RO water. PH is very stable, around 5.9-6. The plant is absolutely gorgeous, with no dehydrated leaf tips, no deficiencies, and very rapid growth (vegetative growth is slowing down now after 3rd week in flower). Room temp is around 65-75, res temp around 70-73.

4ml/gal cal mag
4ml/gal flora blend
2 parts grow
3 parts micro
5 parts bloom

The metal halide light didn't help with the first 3 weeks stretch. The plant has filled up the entire screen and then some. I've had to be selective, and cut of about a dozen small sucker type branches that will never get enough light. As I've said before, this pheno of AO stretches really tall in places and produces small but plentiful sticky, frosty buds. The first screen is to spread the plant out and help even the canopy; the second screen is to hold up the branches that grow very tall.

If anyone is interested, I'm trying out the BLOG feature here on 420Mag. I won't be starting any more journals. But I'll be posting in my blog, everything from how I get pearly white roots, canna oil recipe, and what projects and strains I'm working on now. Subscribe to my BLOG here.

Hey Capn, awesome grow! +REPs for starting a blog, that will consolidate all the info you got out there into an easily searchable platform. Question, can you elaborate on what is meant when dosing out the Flora nutes? Is a "part" like part per gallon?

Thanks Sky! Good question.

Where I say "parts", I mean a ratio. For me, one "part" is about 5ml. After mixing, I'll add "calmag + florablend water" or more nutrients of the proper ratio, to dial in the PPM. The point I'm making is I always use 4ml / gal of both calmag and florablend. If you're not using florablend, you should take another look at this stuff. I believe it is responsible for the white roots (along with the tea). And BTW, the florablend is VERY DARK as it has liquid seaweed in it, and roots are still white :)

I updated this in my BLOG where I talk about nutrients

I also wanted to point out... there are REASONS why I don't run GH "nectar" or floralicious. "sweet" type products are known to be food for anaerobic bacteria. So, if any readers are following by example, don't add additional products thinking it will "help" or "boost" growth.

s1ing, that's a nice lookin rack - o - buds you have there.

50 tops or so? With the crystals going way out the leaves I bet this is a good strain for kief, eh?

How big is that screen? 4 x 4?

Give us your irrigation schedule too when you give us the next update... and a picture looking up under the screen.
