Smokerjoes 2nd Journal

Hello everyone. Just took pictures when I flipped the lights on. Will upload momentarily. The second seedling of the 5 broke soil overnight. As always let me know if you can see a big difference from the last pictures to these ones.

Yes, I see the difference Joe....

I must say this is a good read.

The light cycle seems to be working and is also confirmation that cannabis can be grown on planets with only 6 hours of darkness. which might be helpful to someone in the future.

can't wait to find out what the mystery plant is.. i do hope it's not a man :/

I'll have to keep an eye on this cos you're doing what i plan to do on my next grow; LED and HPS, though I'm also using CFLs as side lighting. I'm putting the hps in a cool tube though, i am unsure as to wether that will diminish the 90000 lumens the bulb produces.

I'd like to pick your brains about breedjng at some point if at all possible? as i plan to make some female seeds with colloidal silver.

Unlucky about the bugs.. creatures in my llants is a big fear for me. I'd be inclined to abandon the grow entirely if efforts to kill them failed.

the way your girl reacts is exactly the same as my ex wife, cept she'd never have let me grow lol

Really hope you pull lbs off this, I'm hoping to get a bigger crop myself this time :)

enjoy :)

The cooltube will absorb 10% of the light. It absorbs the red spectrum the easiest. You can ask anything you like. Ive not use colloidal silver but know of it and read a decent amount on it and may experiment with it eventually but that time may be far away as I want to in a house have my own dedicated area and a worktable so I can have enough room to specifically make my own soil mixes. You may have a point in regards to the growing on other planets that sure would be cool.

Im glad you notice a difference bar. Ive been waiting for someone to answer. Pictures in about 12-15 hours.

I'm just sticking with Coir until I'm more experienced; i will eventually dip my toe in soil.

Well it's like this, i have 16 lemon kush seeds, 3 blue dream seeds and 1 critical super silver haze. I don't plan on getting more seeds so i have to make do; the plan is to use 5 plants for breeding purposes:

Blue dream x 2 (one for pollen, one for seeds)
Lemon kush x 2 (same as above)
Critical super silver as seed bearer with either the blue dream or the kush as pollinator

I've read up on the method and have an idea about time scales and wanted to run this scenario by someone:

Half way into veg i remove the two pollinators and place them in another grow area on 12/12, spraying with colloidal silver daily until big balls form which should be close to the end of veg for the rest of the plants.

I harvest the pollinators as instructed in guides, clean the room and move the three seed bearers into the seperate grow area, using a soft paintbrush to polinate the flowers manually as they appear, tagging each one with a bit of twistix so i remember which flowers have and have not been basted.

continue the standard grow through to harvest as normal but leave the seed bearers in until they're close to death before harvesting the seeds as per one of the guides.

Sound alright as plans go?

Also, another question is; do the children take mostly after the seed bearer or the pollinator?

50% of the offspring will resemble both parents equally, 25% will express traits closer to the mother and 25% closer to the father.

Usually, breeders will stabilise a strain over several generations. First, a healthy mother and father are selected, and bred to produce hybrid offspring that will be of varying predictability depending on parent stability. Hence, if the mother and father are both considered stable, their offspring would be expected to express the traits you are breeding for.

Thank you. What I want to know is where all of those folks at the beginning of the journal have been who were so interested in my hypothesis of the light schedule. Well pretty soon I will be main lining the plants that are large enough to do so. Its gonna be pretty amazing. Got to wait for 5 nodes before I can top it down to node 3 however. I havent given any additional nutrients to this point to be certain it is the light cycle that is the winner and not added nutrients. Just normal gross filthy city water.

Can't wait to see how your mainline turns out. Mine stretched for two weeks at start of flower and has still grown another 3 inches since then. Hope it produces some bud soon. I'm sure the others will show back up, probably just lurking silently in the shadows

Yeah I'm lurking. being the new guy around here I just don't have much to say,"I like to watch"(quote from what movie). I am interested in the mainline and will watch intently. I was thinking of trying the mainline with my flowering clones. Would there be any benefit of mainline and a Vscrog.

a vertical scrog is gonna be pretty hard to pull off. How do you intend to keep the plants positioned? Just grow the side plants in 2d? Cut off one side and use the other side into the scrog? Are you going to shape the screen in a U ? I prefer mainlining because it creates all the growth symmetrical and everything branches off a mainfold so the nutrients are divided up exactly the same which practically eliminates popcorn buds.

I think fluxing is different. Main lining is a method I learnt from a different 420 site. Ive read about it for a year or so but never tried it yet because I like to make sure there is a minimal chance I mess up with something that takes so long to grow(long for someone without anything to smoke anyways)

Well I'm probably mixed up about something and should just go back to watching. I'll watch and learn. thanks.

Girls are coming along nicely. Light schedule seems to be doing them very well

I'm right here Joe & agreeing with Peyton. Even if I'm not posting peep my likes.
Also you have to take into consideration, it's been slow all around nearly every journal lately.
