Hi all! What temp range do you all like to keep your tents at i thought the 60s was kinda low so i threw a heater in there killed the humidity level

Winter gets cold here and I have to fight to keep temps up above 64F so they can access magnesium and stay healthy. So 70's F when I can and 65 F and up when it's just hard just for the plants sake. Summer goes up to 90 F but I like mid 80's for max. We do what we can.

The plants seem to like 75-85*F, although indica's seem to like it cooler and sativa's like it hotter, likely based on their heritage, sativa's started out near the equator whereas indica's from more mountainous regions.

I don't make any effort to control high or low temps other than to run my flower lights at night. That helps keep it cooler during the hot days of summer and warmer during the colder nights of winter.

Yeah its an indica it was turning purple at first but not since its been in the tent

It should be visually evident when she connects, and the roots don't have to make it all the way to the reservoir since the SIP pot structure provides plenty of moisture in a gradient above it.

Since the soil is generally wetter than normal, the plant will have to adapt its roots for that environment and that's what often produces a pause or stall in growth. It's well worth the wait however since once it does catch, it gets fun real quick. :morenutes:

Smoked some well aged herbs, and got to staring at my SIP, and thought...

Can a SIP also be a fish tank? 🐟🦀
Or partially incorporated into a fish tank?
Maybe bottom dwellers like catfish, some snails, and scum suckers?
Would it starve the plant and kill the fish? Or would both thrive?
Would it be inhumane to test it out with live fish... in the name of science?

Would you follow along even if I killed 2 dozen fish getting the system figured out???:rip::oops:

I was thinking a normal fish tank with a tote sitting 3/4 on top (so i can still feed the fish) and a couple soil/ perlite pipes connecting em, as a prototype... but I won't post it on here if a belly-up goldfish would make anyone weep.
My early version of a SIP using goldfish/turtle
Stocking Up For The Apocalypse: Goody's Perpetual Grow By The Beach 2020

Is the Wedding Cake auto in your next post my Wookiees great grandma? 🤪
Yes, that’s the @Barney's Farm seed that started it all. She has grandkids worldwide! I have another single seed from that same batch I’m saving for a rainy day.

Like Azi said takeoff is fun!

I thought the instructions were to plant it opposite the tube?!?
I may be missing something but you’re not worried about something like this?
its going to get pretty heavy and as it grows a good chunk of thenweight is going to be outside of the footprint of the pot.

Oh wow! That’s my Sunday reading sorted. Just the page in the link and I’m sold!

Now that i think about it damn that may be a problem:passitleft:but i seen someone else on here train their plant horizontally like that which i was trying to go for but i never really tried any real training so that may be difficult

If you are worried about it tipping this time you can use a scrog net to help hold and support buds

Not difficult at all, just takes getting over "I'm going to hurt them" ;)

Or in my case it was an aversion to cutting off perfectly healthy parts, he, he...

Now I find it's great fun ! And instead off just watching them grow you get to be interactive.

There are so many different ways to "shape" a plant into your vision and it actually improves the yield....

End result is a shorter/wider plant and a quicker harvest i.e., there are only larger buds to trim, none of that "takes hours to save" type buds !

Basically top above whatever node you decide on, typically above the fourth or fifth depending on vigor/age.

And then as the next two branches get long enough, pull them over.

BBQ skewers and soft wire. Or tie them down to the rim of the container.

Or just pull the top over, no topping.

That breaks it's apical dominance and the lower branches race to the top to be King Dog ;)

Then continue to train the branches sideways until it is as wide as you want. Nice even canopy...

Good luck, eh ?

Cheers
