Random Thoughts: Plants & Genetics

Well I am set for soil for a while. Bought a truck load of it lol. Plus I have new weed. Life is good. It is always nice to compare what I am doing to what you can get in a dispensary. All of it is GROWN better than mine that is for sure. This stuff Burns LMAO. I also got a chance to buy some of the new Dessert Strains out there LOL. I really wanted some Strawberry Banana. Ended it up with some Wedding Cake from Willies Reserve $340 oz. For the extra money they put the container in a box. Only problem they were 1/8 containers LMAO.

I have to say the high of the WC might be worth it. We will see. It does not have felt effects like a Headband or a Purps. It just made the world a happier place to be in. Music sounded better colors were brighter. It was strong with out that holy f**k I smoke to much stage at the beginning.

I also went back to Choice organics where I first got Ghost Train Haze and fell I love. The first time it was rated at 26% THC. I believed that. This time it was rated at 16 to 25% THC I believed that to. Or the lower THC part. It is one of their in house strains so I never looked at the percent. Don't get me wrong it is good. Just not as good as when I last got it. I think I can do better.

Next up is Flo. I really wish I had bought more of this now. It kicks the GTH ass as a sativa. I have always wanted to grow or try it so I got a 1/4 of it when I picked up some Snowball. (The White x Chem 91). I was there for indica. Should have got Flo instead of GTH for sativa. Taste was more fuely then I expected from a D.J. Short strain. High was just what I expected. Pure happy up sativa. Taste and effects were similar to the F-13 I grew years ago.

Strawberry Slurpee and the Snow Ball I will get back to you on. A couple hits of each last night and they put me down just as expected lol.

One thing I took away from my trip. Weed flavors seem to have trends. Of course we all know that people always jump on the band wagon. That's not what I mean. Of course a portion of the weed is going to start tasting like Cookies and G.G. #4. It is when older strains with similar flavor profiles gain in popularity. I got 5 different strain bred at different times and they all have simularities in flavor. Kind of like when everything was tinged with berry, fuel, and skunk.

Mostly I need to test drive each of these on their own to see for sure. Nice to have something new. I have been smoking the same weed for almost a year now.

Sometimes tolerance rears it's ugly head when you smoke the same stuff to much. I don't notice it as much growing 7 different kinds. 5 would probably work just as well. It does help to be able to stay away from a strain for a week or 2.

I will be germinating seeds for the next run today. I said the line up wouldn't change but we all knew it would LOL. After finding so many strains had similar flavor profiles from my last trip to the big city. Everything was sour in one way or the other. Some changes are going to be made along that line. Already I know Blue Gelato 41 has been dropped. It was in because of its berry flavors. Thing is it is still a Cookies hybrid in a way. I don't have any G.G. hybrids going so B.G.41 is going to be replaced by Clown Royal. It should have both berry and G.G.

Perfect time to do 2 regular strains. I will have enough extra room if there more females than I had planned. Other change's may be made because of flavor. I will just have to wait and see what I get wet LOL.

Ok I didn't start seeds. Having trouble deciding just what to grow. I want to save some of these genetics for when I will be running constantly. I don't want to miss a great pheno. I can still grow great weed without risking too many good seeds. Pretty sure the Banana Sorbet will replace The New. I have more of the Sorbet. Plus I really want to look hard at what comes from The New. Still top of the line genetics so I am not loosing anything. I may even change the Ghost Train Haze for a different sativa dom strain. I like what I got from Colo. I also remembered why I liked it before. It was just a great tasting sativa. The sativa high it has needs something for me. Same thing with all Train Wreck strains. I plan to breed G.T.H. to Flo in the future whether I grow it this time or not. It should help round out the sativa high. That is the reason I may wait. More plants to choose from.

Thing is I have enough great genetics I can have a incredible grow. No need to jump the gun on some of this stuff. As I drop- one strain it may effect others.I will get it figured out in a day or 2.

Well the new run has been started. No major changes. I swapped The New for Banana Sorbet. Dropped the Ghost Train Haze to 2 seeds and added Strawbwerry Lemonade. It is a indica that identifies as a sativa LMAO. Perfect for this day in age. Here is what is germinating now

Super Silver Haze reg, Mr Nice
Clown Royal reg, Second Generation
Banana Sorbet fem, DNA
Cataract Kush fem, DNA
Ghost Train Haze fem, Rare Dankness
Bag of Oranges fem, Useful Seeds
Strawberry Lemonade fem, Barney's Farm

I am so exited to finally be growing Super Silver Haze. I am also glad I waited to try the original first. I have had the Greenhouse and the Dinafem versions for years waiting for the right time. That time is now. Stated THC rating don't mean nothing but they help. This is the first time that everything I am starting is supposed to be well over 20% THC. I know they all may not make it to there. Thing is, there is a very good chance a few will be well over the 20% mark.

I have noticed that my Charcoal filters do not keep all the smell from the living room. I never get company but I still like to have the living room free of smell. I smoke all the time so it really doesn't matter. The house usually reeks LOL. There isn't much but it is there. I really notice in the morning when I get up. Time to set up the automatic sprayers I bought last year. I never needed them. A little pine smell will cover it well enough for me. Filters can only do so much. The tent is pretty f**king smelly right now.

The other thing I noticed last night. Other than the Peyote Critical. My hybrids are some of the most impressive plants I have growing this run. The Critical hybrids are the frostiest plants in the tent. The one made by Barney's Farm and the Choccrit I made. The Tangilope hybrids are not as frosty looking. They make up for it with size. Both T2 and Tangiloe look to produce pretty good. We all know it is the end product that matters. Just because these plants look good does not mean they will smoke good. I still need to wait to see about that. Still it is great to see my hybrids doing so well.

Looks like I will be killing a plant next week. One of the Peyote Critical is damn near finished. hairs are red trichomes are clouding over and I am around day 45. That is from when the lights were dropped back. Here is a quick look are her.

No other plant is even close to finishing with this one. It seems to be a bit of both smell wise. It doesn't have the strong Og Kush type smell like one of the others does. The third Peyote Critical is something totally different.

I will be potting plants today. Lots of beans have already popped. The Bag of Oranges with the hard shell seemed to do ok with the scuffing I did. I know at least one has popped already. Same with the SSH they popped fast. I was wondering about that. As hard as they are to get you would think they would be fresh when they show up. I still wasn't sure.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I know most of you had weed. Munchies will cut down on left overs a lot LOL.

Yeah Dankman I am amazed with it. Could be a big problem with it finishing that much sooner than I expected. It was still getting light dose's of M.G. Its on only water now. Next watering I will be able to flush a couple gallons of water through the soil. I hope it helps. My goal for great burning weed is at risk with this plant finishing so much sooner than I expected. Whats a guy to do. This plant went from growing to finished in a week. This has to be from the Critical genetics. I know some of the Dinafem's Critical Mass finish this early.

All new seeds have popped and are in soil. Except one Bag of Oranges. It looks to be a bad seed. I will be starting one more today. Now we see what makes it through the soil with all their leaves. Even after seeds have popped and looked fine I have lost plants to one thing or the other. I had one that the tap root and the leaves came out of the top of the soil at the same time lol. It died, I have even had some decapitate themselves coming through the soil with just a stalk. So now we wait.

Last year I ran some pretty solid genetics. Both were the best run of genetics I have ever had. Those runs pail by comparison to what I have just started. I don't know how much these plants will produce. What is there should end up as my strongest ever. I am totally excited to be growing it. Super Silver Haze is one of those iconic strains out there. I may run a journal for it.

From the looks of it. My photo journal is not working out. I am probably going to bring the pictures back here. I will do it for sure if I start a SSH journal. People seem to be getting tired of all my ramblings. I can't help that, it is who I am. I can only be me. Maybe I can find a different way to express myself. Not that it matters. I don't base anything by my followers. I do appreciate them that is why I think I need to do things different. I would hate to bore people to the point they move on.

I didn't know that you have another photo journal. I'll have to check it out. As far as the critical finishing fast, it's hard for me to forsee what a plant is going to be as oppose to what the breeder says. Most of the time I run something for first time I only top it once and grow it kinda natural so I can get a feel for what it's going to act like. Seems like I get good info for the second run, if it turns out worthy of a second run. Lol

When plants still have plenty of white hairs I don't worry to much about feeding them. That what was so weird with this plant. It went from 3/4 white to 3/4 red hairs in just one watering cycle. Once my daughter noticed purple it started finishing. I don't remember any plant finishing this fast before.

If it's good smoking weed, 45 days is a keeper for sure! Turn and burn. Might be a good one too breed with too shorten finish times on long running strains. I really don't know about that. Just guessing

While it is great to have fast. As long as it isn't over 10 weeks or so I don't care. I do have 2 great early sativa strains I really like now. My new Flo F-5 seeds will be here any day. Like Cinderella it can finish as fast as 7 weeks. I have always avoided this strain because they talk about being able to harvest this plant over a period of time. I want my plants to finish all at one time. I recently found out that was for outdoor grown plants.

It is tons different then C-99 flavor wise so it will be perfect. Both these females are not only early but stable. Perfect for hybrids. The Flo I got at the dispensary was excellent. When I found out that Old World Genetics had a F-5 version, I think that explains why. Flo used to be rated at around 16% like all the others strain of those days. The one I bought was rated at 20% and I believe it. I am thinking what I got was from the F-5 stuff. Great high so I don't care I just want some LOL.

I also received 4 free Blueberry F-5 seeds that just came out. I have a pack of his F-4 Blueberry I have been waiting to try. What I want or need to know is what they bred for when they went passed the F-2 stage which we know can be very random. The fact it is a stable strain that may not have mattered. Still what did they breed for. To get more of that original blueberry smell of flavor or for potency. You would think both. As they found frostier plants that carried the right flavor they bred into it. You could raise the potency of a certain strain and keep everything the same if you did it slow enough.

With that said I wonder if the potency of Blueberry has increased from the beginning to the F-5 stage.
