Piña's 2020 Diary 3rd Journal

Happy Thursday people,
time for a Thursday update

smartasses ... where's my pipe and slippers...

Bluter I'm in the pipe and slippers club on that one, I had no idea either. If there was a 5 year old about we'd all probably learn all sorts of new stuff about our tech.

Hahaha, I love the name. That strain looks interesting.
If you put the paper towel in a zip bag, it'll keep the moisture at a constant level.

I bought it on the name alone, and haven't looked up anything about it. I'm half hoping it's named as such because it's so easy to grow and difficult to screw up. We shall see :)

I'm a creature of habit. I've used the same 2 tapas plates stacked on top of each other since my very first seeds. I can't recall any failures. It's the stages after the paper towel that cause me issues.

The plates have worked again. We have a tap root, and the (what from now shall be referred to as) STB will put into a plug when I'm done here.

No photos of this, getting all the other images out of my camera has been enough of a pain for one evening. I'm not going to take any more, it's felt like I've had to beg the thing to give me what I've got.

Group shot set up and ready for the night shift, complete with new anti-bud rot measures. I didn't fancy jury rigging a fan, so splashed out on one designed for a grow tent. Mounted very easy, just wish they made one a size smaller.

The Dark Devil is still drinking, and her buds are still swelling. She has a bit to go I think Day 62

The unknown one is in the same boat, although definitely sitting behind the DD Day 62

She's the stinky one of the 2, but smells ggggreat!!

They're both on 2.5ml of each per L.

Burnt girl has got her stretch on. Day 30

IMGP1962.JPG

She's also picked up a bit of a calmag deficiency. I've upped her to 1.5ml per L for now. I think she'll be on 2ml before long, but I'm sick of burning her. I'm learning it's best to err on the side of caution.

Most important of all

IMGP1963.JPG

I have yet to do anything to screw up the Blueberry. Day 20 so still plenty of time yet, maybe she'll give the STB some hope that she'll survive what's ahead of her.

Cheers for stopping by all, stay safe, well, and entertained.

:Namaste:

I found 2 patches of bud rot on Thursday morning. I didn't notice anything on Tuesday night. I'm amazed how quick it set in, 2 small patches. I managed to pick out all the grim stuff, washed them in water with some h2o2, and have hung to dry.
Keep an eye on that bud as it dries. Looks like there's still a bit of grey in there so you might not have clean margins. I lost a ton to botrytis last summer.
The Dark Devil is still showing signs of a calmag deficiency. Apart from that she's happy.
I took mine down on day 65, and it looked like this:
full

Nothing I could do about it, it just wanted to go yellow!

Happy May Day all,
No work for me today, 9.30am and it feels like spring is finally here. The birds are making a fantastic sound outside (one positive of what's going on right now), and the light and temp outside feels right for the season. At last.

Just a touch of tip burn on the BB.

Damn I didn't think anyone would notice :) . I edged off on her feed yesterday, nothing scientific though, just watered it down slightly more. I'm hoping she's now old enough to plough through it. She looks no worse this morning after the night shift.

The DD is still drinking her reservoir overnight, and the buds are still swelling, so I'm sure she's not finished yet. Shed is right she just wants to go yellow.

Keep an eye on that bud as it dries. Looks like there's still a bit of grey in there so you might not have clean margins. I lost a ton to botrytis last summer.

Cheers for the heads up. I was planning on giving them the once over today. I hung them for 3 or 4 days, and then transferred to a paper bag in the fridge. I've not looked since . Here's hoping they're okay.

I fast dried a small bud, which I have sampled. It's slow, but hard hitting, and pretty smooth considering it's been fast dried (I vape remember). However for me it is not a bed time vape, gets my head ticking over too fast. There's always the mornings though. :D

Stay safe and well, and remember the weekend is here, no matter how it feels.

:Namaste:

Update time

Good evening all, hope everyone is safe and well.

First up another big thankyou to @InTheShed .

Keep an eye on that bud as it dries. Looks like there's still a bit of grey in there so you might not have clean margins.

I did not have clean margins  . I gave the harvest a once over whilst jarring, and sure enough there was more grey on the 2 buds that had rot. I cut away all the badness, and jarred those 2 buds separately.

I'll keep a close eye on them as they cure.

Here's a Sunnyday group shot.

IMGP1995.JPG

Burnt girl (on the right) is stretching and showing first signs of flower. No feed issues 1.5ml per L Day 33.

Next in, the Blueberry is still showing the slightest signs of nute burn, but is powering through it. Day 23.

Next up, The Dark Devil has just shown signs of drinking less, but she's still swelling. Don't think she's got long now Day 65.

Lastly unknown girl, still drinking, swelling, and smelling also on
Day 65.

I'm going to give the last 2 another night, and have a look with the scope manaña. Think the DD's days are numbered, not sure about the other.

Last but not least, we have STB

IMGP1998.JPG

no problems thus far.

We're starting to get warmer weather here, I think before too long it's going to affecting the nightshift. I have some leeway. I can turn up the extraction, and dial down the lights if it starts to get too hot in there. I'll need to keep an eye on it though.

The warmer weather has also made for a couple of nervous nights with the STB. She's under my tried and tested veg light, but in a new seedling tent.

IMGP1999.JPG

Mrs P was not happy at the prospect of losing her baking area to a seedling for a couple of weeks (again), so...... She loves me .

I'm very happy but it introduces a few unknowns. I've never used the light in an enclosed, reflective area.

So far so good. Temps are a little on the high side at 26c, which will be a problem in a month or so. I do have the options to increase extraction, and/or mount the drivers externally though.

That's all for now, thanks for stopping by, stay safe.

:Namaste:

It's nice she'd prefer a big tent to a little corner in the kitchen!

The tent's tiny, 600x400, so I'm not gaining anything.

Just means the lights contained and useable in another room.

So locked in and mucking around with my scope I manage to catch these.

who'd have thought they were so hairy at such a young age.

:Namaste:

Okay so the scope was upside down.

Thought there was away to rotate the image later so it wouldn't matter. If there is I couldn't find it.

This image will remain Australian.

flip the image in your own computer image gallery before uploading in the browser ..
there might be a flip image in the gallery browser as well.

Hey all,
Time for a Tuesday update. I now feel qualified to post my images the right way up thank you @bluter . I'm sure there used to be a way to rotate an image within 420 mag, but I couldn't find it for the life of me on Sunday. Pre-rotate is the way forward, or have the scope the right way up  .

¡Looking good Piña! (The rosemary does look a little dry though ;) )

The Rosemary is doing surprisingly well, as are the others. The only one that's struggling is the Basil, and that's because someone keeps eating it. As long as they eat that and not the HERBS I'm happy.

The night shift is still fully staffed. I know I keep threatening to chop the DD, but I've not done so yet. She is close though.

Dobby assures me unknown girl is not yet ready.

The unknown girl has picked up a little bit of tip burn, but she's so close to finish now I'm not that worried. I watered her feed down slightly this morning.

I can't imagine either of them needing too many more feedings before the chop.

The 2 not so young ones.

P1010016.JPG

There's no stopping the Burnt Girl now, she's off. Still feeding her 1.5ml per L, but think it needs upping. Her paling leaves are more noticeable in the photo.

The Blueberry is still powering through her tip burn. You can tell she's a little behind the Burnt Girl, but think she's about to explode.

Lastly we have STB.

P1010023.JPG

As yet the hairy little bugger has come to no harm.

The washed perlite is working a treat, no sign of drowning this one.

She's not going to get burnt either, I have no intention of feeding her yet. I am calling today Day 2.

She's a bit lonely in that tent on her own, I'll be popping something to keep her company come next week.

That's all I've got for tonight.

Thank you for stopping by, stay well and safe.

:Namaste:
