NTH’s Grow Corner

Embarrassingly enough I did it myself. Haha. Freak accident involving a slip in some mud/clay but no one to blame but myself.

In regards to my plants I’m sure I’ve done a few things to slow them down but they are for the most part healthy so I’m happy. Will start feeding on Thursday so they should really take off. They’ve done what they have done with miracle grow soil and tap water so don’t think I’ve done too terrible. How are you liking the new nutes you switched to?

And of course you are welcome here. I need all the cheering I can get! Plus I’m sure you know more about growing than you are letting on. Thanks for being here!

Have a great day T!

My grandma always used to say “it’s all fun and games until someone blows their toe off“. Look I’m lying, my grandma never said that, but from this day on I will LOL

OMG! Is it your big toe? I can’t even imagine a life without thongs.

I have always been interested in growing regular plants. I was always nipping and striking branches of plants I liked when I was a broke arse and couldn’t afford to buy them. In fact I have some plants I started with cuttings from over 20 years. I think this knowledge has held me in good stead. But for the most part growing MJ is nothing like growing regular plants.

The reason is because you are wanting it to mature and grow fast, you manipulate its sunshine by adding light artificially and you are adding nutes to speed it up. I think most of my mistakes are because I based my grow style on how I grow plants in my garden/home. When it comes to MJ I actually don’t know. I don’t understand magnesium and nitrates and pH and all that. And to be honest I’d rather stick a fork in my eye than research it. I go simple ie green is good. The nutes I use seem based on that. Too green add less, too light add more. I’m only a week in but so far so good.

Looking at your pots, you have holes in the bottom for drainage aye? One thing I do know, plants hate wet cold feet.

Hello to all the happy people here! Have a question. From the very start of my grow I’ve used tap water. The seed germinating spaceship I bought came with nutes for the water. Don’t have a clue what was in them but seedlings had great roots when I removed them to transplant and were very healthy. Since transplant they have been on nothing other than what they got from the miracle gro soil and tap water. I have watered once with a solution of a tablespoon of epsom salt to a gallon of tap water. Fixing to start implementing Mega Crop. Can use tap water like before or due to the recent wonderful rain showers I can use rain water! Contacted my local water department and got the skinny on my tap water. Here are the numbers.

Calcium - 59 mg/L
Mag - 13.5
Sodium- 9
Potassium- 1.3
Strontium- .5
Silica- 17.3
Carbonate - 0
Bi Carbonate - 224
Sulfate- 16.4
Chloride- 11.7
Fluoride- .36
Nitrate- 6.3
Dissolved solids-246
Hardness as CaCO3- 203
SAR- .27
Conductivity - 460 uS
PH- 7.1

Im clueless on what I should use. Plants should start flowering in a few weeks if not sooner. My gut says rain water and my chosen nute. But part of me wants to continue on with the tap water and nutes to keep the same water source start to finish. What day you guys and gals? Thanks in advance and have a great and productive day Amigos!

Hmmm I don’t know how you sort the elements and H20. When it comes to water Em is the resident waterbird.

I was told to stand my tap water for 24 hours which I do. I use 2L milk containers and I’ve had no trouble.

I’ve taken it straight from the tap since day one. This place is known for its great tasting water and there truly is really nothing to change it in any way due to the location of the aquifer and the remoteness of the area in general. No pipelines or factories or run off from big farms or anything at all for that matter. Just curious as to what folks think about the ratios of the elements in my tap water. I’ve heard rumors of major applications of different substances being sprayed into the atmosphere by the government in the fight against climate change so seems to me if these rumors are true groundwater might be better than rain water in my location. But in the end it’s not a big deal really. Like I said just curious. My girls are going to explode when I start feeding them regardless of my water source hopefully. Thanks for chiming in T!

Look I water like a savage. In fact I start every day hitting them with the hose. When I wake up I can’t function without a clean face and clean teeth, and my plants always wake up to a face wash.

To begin with I’m all gentle when giving them sips of water using a syringe, or if they are unwell I go slow, but once they grow a bit and can talk to me through their foliage, I pour the water on like I’m waterboarding them. Fast and furious. Lollingggg.

Once you understand their language plants really do speak to you. I remember a poster called Krip telling me that, I though he just sounded like he had just gone off his meds, but now I see. They really do speak to you through colour, through their hands being droopy or raised. It just takes time to speaka da lingo.

I have always believed that if the tap water is ok for you, your lawn and your pets, it is ok for your plants too. That being said, rainwater is free. This, if I could collect and use that rainwater, would leave me conflicted. :hmmmm:

Good morning Ladybird :)

Guess what?
(you say what)
I’m getting a rain water tank!

I will be making the switch.

Thanks as always for your input. As I stated my gut says go with the rain water. But I was also just trying to get a grasp on what was going on with my plants using what they are telling me along with the content of the tap water I’ve been using. I have a few leaves that are showing signs of a mineral deficiency if I’m reading them right. But not a constant throughout the three different strains. In my mind it seems that the tap water has been good to them and they are just simply in the need of more nutrients. But I will switch over to the rain water and add the nutes. Plants are doing really well. Thanks again @Emilya and @Trala for your input.

Sorry for the late reply but yes I have holes in the bottom and sides. I started out literally by just knocking a few holes in the bottom but I wasn’t liking the way they were draining. So I added additional holes on the bottom and sides to get more air and liking the results. I get just a touch of runoff after watering 1 1/2 liters of water per plant. And I can go 4-5 days between watering. Should get interesting when I add the feed to see how that changes.
Edit on that watering amount. I water 750 ml’s per watering cycle. Not 2 1/2 liters. Haha.

I water 2L in each pot nearly every day.

My climate is hot, put it this way, when I get to hell I’ll be like “maaaaaaate it’s fucking freezing in here, turn the heat up dude” LOL

If I watered like you guys my plants would be dead in a week.

When my plants were outside I was watering more. But since I moved them inside I needed to cut back.

On another note. Man in the brown van showed up today. NUTES ENGAGED!

Forgot to mention I’m starting out at 1 teaspoon (MC) to a gallon of rain water. Excited to see how my girls react. Peace.

Ahhhh so you decided to go with the mega crop. Good choice mate it's really really easy to apply and gets amazing results too. Just make sure you give it enough time to break down in the water sometimes it can take 10-20 minutes to completely break down. But apart from that , amazing nutes

Looking good @Nine Toed Hippie! I like the one in the rectangle pot on the right there sending the middle solar panels way out there past the corners to catch the light, Keep up the good work!

It’s funny you say that. Friend of mine that grows too also does electrical work. I got him to install a plug inside my closet to keep things tidy and such. He saw my plants and commented on those exact leaves. He actually put his hand on the branches while he told me I should pinch those off because my plant would grow faster! He saw the look in my eyes and quickly pulled his hand back. I would have ripped his arm off. Haha. It’s what you know! If I’m wrong I hope someone corrects me but those leaves are almost as big as my hand and I have bear paws. They have to be important and necessary to the plant. Still just having a blast doing my thing growing some plants. Thanks for keeping up with my journal guys and gals!

Day 44 I believe. So far so good. Second feeding of nutes today. My girls are really liking the light! Shout out to @InTheShed for slapping me upside the head with a “DUH” moment. Haha. Happy Monday folks! Have a great week. I’m headed out to do some carpenter work in the middle of nowhere on the border with Mexico. Gods country. Pics incoming. Peace!

It breaks heart seeing people cutting off fan leaves.
Especially on young girls.
I don't take anything off even damaged leaves.
If it dies and falls of fine.
Otherwise they are there for a purpose, which I don't have enough time to list.
But let them grow my friend.
Your doing great. :welldone:
