Re: New City Grower

Judges rock

and judges rule.

Judges say

"Continue, it's cool"
Naw we work hard on the time line to make it one hour. Open discussion still continues.

Electronics is my kryptonite which is why I only work on classic cars :)

so 600s are the way to go eh? That is some good foot work I didn't have to do thank you guys for teaching me something new tonight!

Re: New City Grower

for spider mites you can use another spider mite that eats the spider mites that attack the plants, but not sure if this is a method we can use on the plants we grow but i know my local garden center uses predatory mites to attack the spider mites with.

ive not had spider mites but i got sns spider mite product that ill use, plus you can also use systemic treatments which puts the spider mites off from eating the plants and they should move on, ive not tried either product yet but will if i get spider mites which im sure i will at some point been as i have a dog and he goes chasing birds and rabbit through bushes and into long vegetation, so im sure its only a matter of time

No. Depends on space, cooling equipment etc. They're more efficient, but not necessarily the best bulb. Too many contributing factors.

Re: New City Grower

you could also argue with the lumins that the distance from the plants makes a difference, a 400watt light can be much closer than a 1000watt light, but african grower is right going off the numbers the 600watt is the best watt to lumin ratio, i know i could do with a 600watt light but im still holding out and might even go down the led road at some point.
i struggle with high temps in the middle of summer with my 400 watt light so a 600 watt light would mean i need to sort out better air exchange or even a cooled hood,

Re: New City Grower

As far as mites go I would bag the plant and use lady bugs. They have this powdered glass you can put around the stem as well if you're growing in the ground which will help prevent creepy crawly bugs from getting on your plants.

Those are the only two things I can think of at the moment.

Re: New City Grower

their is a calculation you can use to work out the best watt to use for the space your growing in, so it all depends on how big your grow space is, plus you need to consider temps, im maxed out in summer and have to have my grow door open but thats with an open bat wing type hood, after an hour of the door being closed in the middle of summer my plants are suffering with the heat,
my room is 3.5ft by 3.5ft so 400 watt is ideal, i just think i could do slightly better with the 600watt, but would the extra energy costs be worth it

Re: New City Grower

@cajun, i totally agree with you mate, the mites spread so quick, within days they have taken over the place, i just hope the sns products work when the time comes, they worked perfect for the fungus gnat problem i had, i used the sns products twice and not seen a fungus gnat or since, not even seen anything crawling around in the soil.

hopefully the product you got works, just remember you need to break the life cycle so more than one treatment will be necesarry, it also depends how the product works as some kill the mites but not the eggs so you need to keep using it until all the eggs have hatched then you should be ok,

Re: New City Grower

Re: New City Grower

I'm so sorry. Just had a brain explosion. I think with the help you have now that it is inevitable that you will be a member of the TLC club. Seriously If I can do it it would be impossible for you not to be able to do it. You can walk and chew gum at the same time right? See you have me beat...:lot-o-toke:
