Maine 4-Season Greenhouse Grow

Sounds like you are doing everything you can to bring her to harvest brother! I am hoping next year will be an easier year for growing outdoors. This year seems just freaking crazy!

Absolutely horrendous September for every outdoor grower I know in the NEast....
I’d imagine there will be plenty of people spending hourssssssssss trimming small, leafy shit buds that weren’t finished.

38F and 99% RH last night...mist hung heavy over the tent with the stove going...GH buttoned up tight w/o fan or dehumid as an experiment...86% and 50% RH...reasonable, but now know the dehumid is worth the energy. Same conditions for tonight. Yay.

Wondering how @Bode and other local outdoor growers are doing? Plants survive last night ok? Thoughts for later this week?

Well, another one drops to the rot...Critical harvested in a mad panic this morning. Usually I try not to do these chores on weekends/family-time but I fcked up this morning....i gave them all a dash of fish fert in their watering and then climbed the ladder to check out the Critical....she had 5 colas ravaged and I thought...shit, gotta cut her before she uptakes this stank fert! So pruners go snip and I spent 3 hours cleaning her up...backalley rough style...more tears than love...her trichomes were barely cloudy and I figured she'll be fodder for the MB Machine.....sad, sad, sad.

Saw some rot on the CBD and the Carnival, so those may be next...i am really going to start trimming off more and hopefully get some developed buds...I have enough larfy shiite.

Good news is we are having a textbook awesome Maine day...65F and 40%RH...but soon it is going back to crap.

My plan for next year keeps evolving. Lots and lots of valuable lessons being learned this year.

Just strolling thru the news channels....
And I see this.......#@#@#@LobsterLivesMatter#@#@# :p:pMaine officials say getting lobsters stoned with marijuana before killing them is illegal - Fox News Maine officials say getting lobsters stoned with marijuana before killing them is illegal — Fox News

I love how she takes the piss out of the press...or the press knows and doesn't care...so very Maine...

“THC breaks down completely by 392 degrees, therefore we will use both steam as well as a heat process that will expose the meat to 420 degree extended temperature, in order to ensure there is no possibility of carryover effect"

Can ya do us a big favor Blew? Could you summarize your GH lessons learned when its all said and done please brother? I know I am going to be growing out doors next year so anything you learned to do or more importantly WHAT NOT TO DO is going to be paramount in helping us in that area and I am sure it would be helpful to lots of others as well. A big thanks in advance!

Obvious mistakes:

-Too many plants in confined space...this restricts airflow, observation/maintenance, and ultimately, with botrytis, it's like a clown car bomb...a fcking mess.

-More aggressive pruning...it's hard to type that but the truth. I topped most and cut off about 12"+ at least 2x on each plant...it needs to be done harder in veg because too late in flower and, like the Stankberry, some head for the ceiling...and that is bad for condensation/bud rot/inspection&maintenance...etc.

-Earlier watering (when they pre-flower/flower)....I might have precipitated the yellowing by not doubling their watering sooner.

-Earlier active ventilation (fan)...not sure anyone expected this humidity shitstorm, but I had the tools and I was slow to use them.

-More/better trellising....tomato cages are for plants under 6'...I now understand why people use livestock fencing and timber.

-Eggs in multiple baskets....I almost had this clumped in with the first line, but it's worth it's own line. Next year I will have 2x (or more) locations to offset risk of cross contamination of whole crop. Since some of the strains flowered early (and got harvested early) the later ones may actually have a better fate if RH comes back into mortal parameters in the coming weeks.

Next year I am growing in 65-gallons (or larger) and focusing on 6-8 monsters. I'm giving each (at least) 4' radius of space from stem. (Yes, 8' per plant.) I will have 1-2x these in at least 2x GH locations. I am going to trim off lower 5-7 branches to create more of a "trunk"...minimizing larfy branches/buds that just aren't worth the hassle of the restricted air/human movement amongst the trees.

I'd lollipop harder.

I will have rigid trellising of either cattle panels (or similar) in a 6' circle and, if needed, timber framing support....which will essentially quad line the plants as I direct the branches into their locations (I can add another net or trellis outside and to this cattle panel if needed to contain flowering branches. . I'll prune them all to be under 7' prior to flowering (my other GH have a higher ceiling...10'). I'll probably have them all up and running no later than May 15.

Things that worked:

I liked my soil mix and with the added seaweed it should only be better, so hopefully that in bigger pots and we're good. Fish fert was a good boost and I'll definitely plan on using that in pre-flower every 4-5 watering.

Things are still unfolding, but I liked the strains I ran this summer and would happily run most again.

I love growing anything, and cannabis is no different. I was just jarring the DTF and Blueberry from the drying racks (and into the root cellar)...I felt more like I let those plants down than vice versa...they could have been EPIC. Instead of 3x half gallon jars of buds (per plant) they should have been 3x 5-gallon buckets....which is the goal next summer (and POTM )

Very good read, and I’m going to second this one right here... For me, next yr will be all about protection from the elements, and simplifying from several gardens to two gardens.
Already bartered several 6x8 rigid cattle panels for fresh angus beef steaks so I’m ready to roll..
Sorry to hear about your critical chop BH..

Hiya BH,

We're doing fine over here. 3 carnivals in garden are battling the wind lately. Had to tie them to keep from falling over. They got too big for me, also. Been a great season for me so far - no botrytis, (only a couple little spots). I heard and oldtimer say bud rot season is over. According to the calendar, it's just beginning. Guess we'll see. 2 CBD autos are spending the night in the house. Supposed to be 38 degrees. So, yeah, we're doing fine. Just hope I can get the carnival to mature on the stalk, lol.
