Maine 4-Season Greenhouse Grow

Got some good advice from @PE636 and @Kingjoe83 on the moldy pots thread....nuke them with H2O2. I sprayed them hard this morning and gave them at least an hour before I am watering...and I am adding some to the water to flush out any possible spores in the soil (though, luckily, I didn't see any mold on the inside of the 2x pots I emptied into the compost yesterday.)

For some irrational reason I was pissed at buying tan pots yesterday...but today I started thinking this would have been nearly impossible to detect with a black pot....so I am thinking tan pots only moving forward.

Obvious mistakes:

-Too many plants in confined space...this restricts airflow, observation/maintenance, and ultimately, with botrytis, it's like a clown car bomb...a fcking mess.

-More aggressive pruning...it's hard to type that but the truth. I topped most and cut off about 12"+ at least 2x on each plant...it needs to be done harder in veg because too late in flower and, like the Stankberry, some head for the ceiling...and that is bad for condensation/bud rot/inspection&maintenance...etc.

-Earlier watering (when they pre-flower/flower)....I might have precipitated the yellowing by not doubling their watering sooner.

-Earlier active ventilation (fan)...not sure anyone expected this humidity shitstorm, but I had the tools and I was slow to use them.

-More/better trellising....tomato cages are for plants under 6'...I now understand why people use livestock fencing and timber.

-Eggs in multiple baskets....I almost had this clumped in with the first line, but it's worth it's own line. Next year I will have 2x (or more) locations to offset risk of cross contamination of whole crop. Since some of the strains flowered early (and got harvested early) the later ones may actually have a better fate if RH comes back into mortal parameters in the coming weeks.

Next year I am growing in 65-gallons (or larger) and focusing on 6-8 monsters. I'm giving each (at least) 4' radius of space from stem. (Yes, 8' per plant.) I will have 1-2x these in at least 2x GH locations. I am going to trim off lower 5-7 branches to create more of a "trunk"...minimizing larfy branches/buds that just aren't worth the hassle of the restricted air/human movement amongst the trees.

I'd lollipop harder.

I will have rigid trellising of either cattle panels (or similar) in a 6' circle and, if needed, timber framing support....which will essentially quad line the plants as I direct the branches into their locations (I can add another net or trellis outside and to this cattle panel if needed to contain flowering branches. . I'll prune them all to be under 7' prior to flowering (my other GH have a higher ceiling...10'). I'll probably have them all up and running no later than May 15.

Things that worked:

I liked my soil mix and with the added seaweed it should only be better, so hopefully that in bigger pots and we're good. Fish fert was a good boost and I'll definitely plan on using that in pre-flower every 4-5 watering.

Things are still unfolding, but I liked the strains I ran this summer and would happily run most again.

I love growing anything, and cannabis is no different. I was just jarring the DTF and Blueberry from the drying racks (and into the root cellar)...I felt more like I let those plants down than vice versa...they could have been EPIC. Instead of 3x half gallon jars of buds (per plant) they should have been 3x 5-gallon buckets....which is the goal next summer (and POTM )
New lesson since this list...but crucial....dealing with mold.

1) I'm only using tan pots moving forward (so I can see if mold is present)
2) I need to better isolate my other pots from the current grow. I was just up in the GH looking around and I have shelves of black fabric pots from previous summer/winter grows. Any/all of them could have mold spores and they were all in the 99% RH environment with the other plants...with a high volume fan churning all of it up. By "isolate" I mean just store them in a big plastic bin...and those will be the tan ones so if they get moldy (even in the bin) I can trash them. The used black ones are going in the fire pit...

Great idea on the tan pots! I honestly have no clue what is on my black pots throughout the grow.
Tan pots show you algae as well (which looks greenish) which isn't a real issue unless it permeates your soil and thus competes for nutrients with your plant.

But the gnarly black mold stain...that we need to be able to see, and treat, asap....

Blew could you wash those cloth pots in a mild bleach solution ?
It's possible to wash with a bleach mixture and kill the mold, but I doubt you'd get the stains out and I don't need that reminder for a $9 pot.

I was thinking the same thing Oldbear Bleach wash hang to dry completely before storage or use, Damn Blew you still got a lot to tend to and I know it an't over lol Finally got a timer on my joint grow , the buds are getting bigger now in two week stage of flower I hate I didn't get to top it but it started while I was at the beach and speaking of that glad to hear from tatoolineman ? But anyway the Buds are looking Good Blew !!

@Oldbear you asked about root ball...here's a pic of the 30 gallon from the DTF...I cut the pot and rolled it our...it was like that overnight, so it is essentially all nice, fluffy, fibrous roots.

You know a lot of local growers are dealing with mold issues when you go to the store and the shelf looks like this....

All the larger H2O2 were gone...lady stocking shelves looks over at me and says "more coming tomorrow"...I got the last 32 oz..

Hey thanks for posting these. Thats a big a$$ root ball. The soil looks fabulous too.

Wicked rain storm last night pounding the windows....wondering how people's outdoors grow handled that one....
Got all that rain yesterday (57 deg), flew home from work and chopped up what i had left of a THC Bomb ground plant i stuck behind my cow barn.... Its 82 degrees today.. SMFH

Still got bits and pieces of broken plants going strong tho...

...glad you got something from this season.

Hiya BH,

Yeah, last night was a bad one for me. Almost lost one lady. The rain weighed down a huge branch about 4 ft up the stals, and split the stalk in two. So I cut the branch off and wrapped a silk rope around the stalk tightly. She seems fine again. She's starting to recover (lifting branches up again).
Yesterday, I was looking for bud rot (of which I found 2 little spots), but one leg of the step ladder (8 ft) was in soft dirt. So, I went over and down, took out 4 branches, but I'm alright. Always something! I do have a nice premature stash drying, though!
Hope your experience was better than mine, lol. Everything is fine here. Just a bump in the road. Thanks for asking.

Lost two colas on our indoor Gorilla Glue Auto. Buds just got too big and dense and I tried to be cheap a couple days by not running the AC. That 10 dollar savings probably cost me 200 worth of buds. Live and learn!

The rain was so hard it still got into the GH pretty good with the Carnival and the CBD completely soaked and wilting over. Had to do the dew shake on all of them. I was up the ladder today as well looking for, and finding, rot. Not so bad that I am going to harvest any of them before the weekend....next 4 days looks great with sun...we've been socked in all day with fog.
