Maine 4-Season Greenhouse Grow

We're doing fine over here. 3 carnivals in garden are battling the wind lately. Had to tie them to keep from falling over. They got too big for me, also. Been a great season for me so far - no botrytis, (only a couple little spots). I heard and oldtimer say bud rot season is over. According to the calendar, it's just beginning. Guess we'll see. 2 CBD autos are spending the night in the house. Supposed to be 38 degrees. So, yeah, we're doing fine. Just hope I can get the carnival to mature on the stalk, lol.

Bud rot season is "over" when you harvest your last plant!

Good to hear on the rest. Stay warm....we spent last night in the tent with the wood stove going...

I thought that was what you were doing. It's fun at your age. I loved camping. Not so much now, almost 70. Love our tempurpedic. Very warm and comfortable!

Great advice on bud rot season. My thoughts also.

Lol...love our tempurpedic as well! One time our house sitter didn't really do their job and we came into a 45F house...I jumped on the bed and almost broke my ass! But they are a warm, cozy embrace on those chilly mornings!

This year we did some upgrades on the tent...added a very cozy 12x9 rug (Mardens), much larger firewood rack, camp toilet (5-gallon) and an "insulated" foundation (2x6 framing filled in with sand covered with plywood flooring). Last winter the wind kept creeping in...I strip tacked all edges down this year and so far seems to be the ticket. Also the new location is better as we are clear of any large potential falling branches. With proper cots, pillows, and ginormous flannel sleeping bags it can be pretty cozy...but never the tempurpedic!

Heading up to Baxter this weekend for our annual weekend camping and trek up the backside of Katahdin (The Owl)...getting the kids, and possibly me, ready for the full ascent on of these years. We rent a lean to, and last year we awoke with frost covering our bags...people were packing up next to us muttering "fckthis"...one less group on the trail!

Man I am sorry to hear the rot has settled in and the plan for next year sounds Good , I hope to be here when it happens I will be looking for Ya ! They WERE some damn nice ass plants though ( shit happens ) unfortunately.
It ain't over yet!

...I still have several solid plants that could be worthy....if every day was like today I'd be in the record books...40% RH, 60F, and sunny...just perfect.

Nice, hopefully you can get them to go a couple more weeks brother!!!
Today GH was 31% RH...so perfect for flowering...but we're looking at more humidity in next week...I'm not going down w/o a fight.

Picture time.....

I cut open 2x of these today (not interested in reusing with these stains) and strangely the stain was not on the inside. So I am taking opinions here on wtf this is...and I just put up a separate thread seeing if other have gotten this before...mainly wondering if it is a vector for mold....

Obvious mistakes:

-Too many plants in confined space...this restricts airflow, observation/maintenance, and ultimately, with botrytis, it's like a clown car bomb...a fcking mess.

-More aggressive pruning...it's hard to type that but the truth. I topped most and cut off about 12"+ at least 2x on each plant...it needs to be done harder in veg because too late in flower and, like the Stankberry, some head for the ceiling...and that is bad for condensation/bud rot/inspection&maintenance...etc.

-Earlier watering (when they pre-flower/flower)....I might have precipitated the yellowing by not doubling their watering sooner.

-Earlier active ventilation (fan)...not sure anyone expected this humidity shitstorm, but I had the tools and I was slow to use them.

-More/better trellising....tomato cages are for plants under 6'...I now understand why people use livestock fencing and timber.

-Eggs in multiple baskets....I almost had this clumped in with the first line, but it's worth it's own line. Next year I will have 2x (or more) locations to offset risk of cross contamination of whole crop. Since some of the strains flowered early (and got harvested early) the later ones may actually have a better fate if RH comes back into mortal parameters in the coming weeks.

Next year I am growing in 65-gallons (or larger) and focusing on 6-8 monsters. I'm giving each (at least) 4' radius of space from stem. (Yes, 8' per plant.) I will have 1-2x these in at least 2x GH locations. I am going to trim off lower 5-7 branches to create more of a "trunk"...minimizing larfy branches/buds that just aren't worth the hassle of the restricted air/human movement amongst the trees.

I'd lollipop harder.

I will have rigid trellising of either cattle panels (or similar) in a 6' circle and, if needed, timber framing support....which will essentially quad line the plants as I direct the branches into their locations (I can add another net or trellis outside and to this cattle panel if needed to contain flowering branches. . I'll prune them all to be under 7' prior to flowering (my other GH have a higher ceiling...10'). I'll probably have them all up and running no later than May 15.

Things that worked:

I liked my soil mix and with the added seaweed it should only be better, so hopefully that in bigger pots and we're good. Fish fert was a good boost and I'll definitely plan on using that in pre-flower every 4-5 watering.

Things are still unfolding, but I liked the strains I ran this summer and would happily run most again.

I love growing anything, and cannabis is no different. I was just jarring the DTF and Blueberry from the drying racks (and into the root cellar)...I felt more like I let those plants down than vice versa...they could have been EPIC. Instead of 3x half gallon jars of buds (per plant) they should have been 3x 5-gallon buckets....which is the goal next summer (and POTM )
Those 16' cattle panels would be pefect

I have some of those and I think you are right....though I think I want them higher than the 4'.

Ever seen hog rings? Those are perfect for connecting cattle panels...

Hiya BH,

We want to go up to Baxter in a couple weeks when leaves peak. Too old for a camping trip, but still love it up there. Funny how people don't know how to deal with cold mornings. It does get frosty!!
Is The Owl trail go up over knife edge? We hiked into Chimney pond one year, then up to the summit the next day. But never over knife edge.

Baxter closes Columbus Day and then reopens later for Winter season. Check their website.

Owl is a different trail, but they all use the same trailhead so my kids cheer the dirty, glaze eyed thru-hikers and then we go on Owl ...which has 5% of the foot traffic. I've had seriously fit and skilled hiker friends lose their shit on Knife's Edge...one got hit with a squall from nowhere and he crawled for about half a mile!
