Let's grow some Weed!

Much appreciated Joe :)

I'm not a new grower, but I am a new user - been lurking a few weeks. I'm used to growing in Soil, and I'm decent enough at it (I guess - I've gone through many of the struggles this thread recounts). The reason I joined this site was I'm looking to buy a Bloombox from BCNL and I was looking through the grow threads to find others who are growing with one.

I like your thread - my wife and I grow together as well. Looking forward to watching it's progress!

My wife and I are just now finally getting the mechanics down to having a decent grow. It just isn't easy like you would think it would be but that's what makes it more fun. I do have to admit that the plants are simply beautiful with the the colorful flowers. I just can't look at the flowers enough and I love to take pics of them.

I will forward you the link I am subscribed to about BCNL as soon as they repost.
Maybe it will help you out.

Try it again maybe the server is slow? If it's 80 x 80 it should work. When I loaded mine it said it failed but as you can see it worked. I used Fastone Photo Resizer 2.9 to resize my pics in JPG. format. I uploaded from my computer.

Hey Joe, dig the new avatar LOL! Little hard to make out though. Clones...I need to consider to start cloning real soon. Is that a peat pellet you got there? Clones look good I forgot that you take yours several weeks into flower right? Is there a reason you prefer to take in flower? I have been reading they are harder to keep alive at this stage and take a while to revert to veg. Just curious bro.

General hydroponics Rapid Rooter starter plugs

You want the real truth on why I was trying to clone while in flowering?

I accidentally cut the wrong branch when I was cutting branches off of my 1st grow that were loaded with Buds. I figured let's make the best of it and tried to clone what I could. LOL!

Underwear outside the pants is so ghetto! lol

Does he leap tall beer kegs in a single bound? Is he faster than a speeding burrito as it races through your guts?

Sorry Josephine,(LOL) but it's not the mental image I have of your alias. You have seen the Green Mile right? Squashed mouse? Ol' Sparky? Tom Hanks?

This new one just kinda knocks my little universe a bit off the celestial plane. But if it's OK with the wife it's fine by me! I got extra sugar when I bought my spousal unit a pillow case and poster with Johnny Depp in his pirate gear for Xmas a few years ago. :cheer: :bong:

What the hell do I know anyway. My avatar is vermin!

:peace:

Oh I See!! Well, no sense in letting it go to waste eh? Should make a fine plant under your care!!

Ah, cool rapid rooters, I have read good things about them. I think I am going to go straight into soaked rockwool cubes into a humidity dome under a cfl or t5. I am seeing some cool branches on my girls I could cut. But I dont have the gear yet hehe.

OMG LOL the new AVATAR!! You go boy!

(chuckle, snicker, chuckle)

Grooster, i used Rapid Rooters for sprouting seeds, and the medium didn't pull off the seed husk or skin from the emerging sprout. I had to manually remove both seed and the remaining membrane (which has a brown nose!)

Do you feel there are better options than Rapid Rooter and why? I would really like to know your opinion. I have 50 of the rapid rooter plugs at the moment but I am not hard sold on them.. I purchased the Rapid Rooters because the girl at the hydroponics store recommended them and I had never tried any other products so I gave it a go.. :slide:

I love them - I have never had a problem. Why the skepticism?

I've also used Jiffy Plugs with a lot of success.

I really don't have any skepticism other than the fact that most of the times I buy growing supplies based on a retail person recommendations I feel afterward that there advice wasn't really so good. I have found that the advice given here by other growers is a lot better. Therefore I felt it is worthwhile to bring it up as a discussion. :smokin:

The RapidRooters are a very spongy medium with an opening 1/4" deep and wide, and you can't squish the medium closed over the seed. The smooth sides of the hole doesn't give the seed husk/skin anything rough to catch on to when the seedling emerges.

BIG HINT: when putting a seed that has just popped a rootling into a grow plug, put the pointy side of the seed DOWN into the hole and the root pointing UP.
I know, counterintuitive.
However, the root will turn and go down, and the seedling will pull up out of the open seed, hoping that the soil will catch hold of the seed while the seedling pulls out, and turns up to the light.
