Let's Grow A Pound

Good morning all. I come before the community today to report on a plant tragedy. I was downstairs yesterday afternoon, I've been having some issues with my DP Blueberry and was working on them. I was not paying very close attention to where I was relative to the White Widow. Do y'all see where this is heading? Yep, I knocked the damn thing off the 5 gallon bucket I had it sat on. It broke the main stalk low on the plant and I was left with a tough decision. Ultimately, I was left with little choice other than harvest. Lost 6 days of flower and a complete flush. In actuality, it likely cost me very little in yield, the plant had slowed it's swell quite a bit, but it still makes me sick to my stomach. Anyhow, I spent the next hour or so harvesting/trimming her. I will say that I am quite happy with the yield, it appears that there will be 3+oz from this plant, I'll report more on that after an appropriate drying period.

I will report that the 2 Barneys are alive and well, and while their swell is slowing, it has by no means stopped. Hopefully no tragedy will befall them in their last days.

Pics of the dearly departed...

This is not all of the buds produced from this plant, there are alot of smaller buds not pictured, and a good amount of lower buds were added to the hash bag to be put to use in my brand new bubble bags. For my first run of hash, I'll be mixing the trim from all three plants being covered in this journal. Hopefully there will be enogh trim to make a nice little ball of hash. The Barneys are so covered in trichs that they literally sparkle so I have high hopes...no pun intended.

Y'all have a great day...and don't knock over any plants...it'll make you want to cry.

I'll post up some Barney's pics tomorrow.

Damn man, so sorry to hear.

I'm pulling for you that there's not a significant taste effect. I know you prefer less couch lock so maybe a blessing in disguise ;)

How's the cure of the RoadRunner coming along ;)

Thanks for the consoling words Brother. I am confident of an awsome high based on the tester from Monday night, but I still feel like I'm going to pay a price in the taste catagory.

The RR his curing very nicely, I actually pulled a bud of that and smoked it last night. The green taste is fading fast, replaced with a sweet, but still slightly harsh, taste. I expect that the taste will improve further with more time in a jar.

It always does!

SW, I am germinating a RR seed and it should be in a custom soil mix by tomorrow. So as a tribute to you, and your inspirational results with her I will be starting a Journal.

Terrible news about the Blueberry, although it does look nice and full. Don't even sweat it now though, I think Soniq's hit the nail on the head - should be just how you like it. Gotta stay positive, right?;)

I'll be looking for that journal...WeedRyder has been a little slow with his updates...it looked great the last time he posted. And that wasn't the Blueberry...it was the White Widow.

Parenthetically, those blueberries have been a pain in the ass from day one. There is a .2 Ph range you HAVE to stay in, and I have no auto injectors. You let it fall out of range, it'll punish you fast. I'm curious if anyone following this journal has ever grown DP Blueberry in soil? Downstairs everything is in 5 gallon DWC. Does Blueberry give a bunch of trouble in soil? I still have a good supply of those seeds, the wife's favorite smoke you see, and I'm selecting for a MP. Are these plants just completely aggravating to grow or what? Ph and nute sensitive, with some known issues...at least with DP, of a predisposition to going hermie...no issues with that so far here. Just looking for some input...I'm really beginning to dislike growing them.

Do they taste like pool water? ;-)

Sorry... couldn't resist.

Cheers!

Tead, you're hilarious.

sorry about losing 6 days flush ...plant looks awesome and hope it smokes good for ya bro :yummy:

Yes, not very pleased with myself. I believe the only real loss will be in the taste department, and with a more than adequate personal supply, allowing time for a long hang and cure should help that to some degree.

No personal experience, but you're now on the long list of growers that have mentioned Blueberry being a prima-donna. Learn what you can and my only suggestion is to get your hands on some True Blueberry from DJ Short. Apparently, it is a revised version, easier to grow, with a more old-school flavor and potency. Just make sure you find real DJ Short beans, as there has been some fake genetics being sold as Short's recently (as confirmed by Attitude Seedbank).

I have some Shorts also. I haven't been real impressed with this batch and am going to start another group after the first of the year.

did you get them from attitude? They recently got information stating that they recently got in a bunk order of DJ SHORT seeds. if you check their site, it will provide you with all the info concerning this issue.click the dj short seeds.

I did, but I've had the beans for about 5 months. I have yet to receive any e-mail from them regarding the seeds, so I assume I purchased mine before this issue cropped up.

Well these were Dutch Passion, and it's not like they aren't the right breed...they smell rather stongly of blueberries, they've just been a gold plated pain in the ass to grow. I spend so much time running up and down the staircase that I've literally lost weight during their time downstairs.

It's a better day today all. No broken plants and week early harvests. Just a Barney's #1 that's an animal. There is a little issue cropping up, but there is nothing to be done about it at this stage...she's getting root bound. But with only 10 days or so until harvest, there's just no sense in messing with it. I'd be pleased beyond belief if the yield on this plant didn't go up another gram...she's loaded up with frosty nugs now and even with the roots starting to bind up, she's still putting on weight, so I'm just going to pretend that there is no issue.

I'm targeting October 10 as a harvest date for the two Barney's. That'll be 60 days flower on a 55-65 day projected flower cycle. I am not going to project a yield at this point, but I will say that both Barney's are going to shatter the WW yield...and WW didn't yield poorly by any stretch of the imagination.
