SkooterClowns CFL Cabinet Grow

thanks guys for all the kind words....the buds are looking good....too bad it has to lose all that water weight!

no matter what, though, we are stoked. Can't wait until it's dried so we can post some nugget pictures here... They are sure looking "frosty"

We should be starting the papaya grow journal over the weekend.
I have 4 clones in the box now being rooted but we might swap them out for 4 fresh clones over the weekend as these are looking a bit sad (can you say "crispy"). (hey, I got them this way....Skooter??)

Even so, I got one to root and the others might follow in the next day or two so we will have to decide then if we should go forward with these or start fresh.

thanks again for all those who have followed our escapades and posted here..it's been a blast sharing with you guys...

Hi guys, I asked the guy at the hydro shop what was in his magic bonzi liquid.
He giggled and said "its me secret juice mate" Then he told me its paclobutrazol its made by Syngenta in the states just google Bonzi growth regulator. He also gave me a H&G t-shirt for x-mas. Thanks Hydro shop bloke.
:peace::bong:

We weighed and jarred our harvest today.
Final weight (in that we are not going to weigh this again after curing) is 5.1oz.
Congrats KillerTree. Excellent guess. We are going to be slamming a couple of bowls in your name.

We are very happy with these results with just CFLs. We increased our yield by 66%. We are always trying to improve from the previous grow so this was a huge success in that regard.

Our next grow (and journal) will be starting today. We are growing 4 Papaya plants in our box. Be sure to stop by and check out the progress.

Simply amazing results!!!! Sweet labels! You all are so damn official!! ;)

Can't wait to see how the next round goes! I suspect you will break the five ounce mark now that your working with four plants... Good smoking and enjoy the fruits of your labor! :nicethread:

Thanks for the great journal...read it all and really appreciate it.

hahaha, love the labels!!

Thanks, it started as blue tape on the top with a magic marker of what's in the jar to something much much more...leave it to a stoner :slide:

Thanks for the great journal...read it all and really appreciate it.

glad you enjoyed it.....we had fun doing it...

We'll post a smoke report in a few more days even though it will have only cured for a week by then, we should have a good idea. We might see a couple of friends this weekend that can give us their opinion also....then we can put this one in the books

Cant wait for the smoke report to find out how the fruits of your labor turned out. Also whens the new grow gonna start up??

well you aren't the only one...the "growers hash" off the scissors sure was killer so I can only imagine the bud will be pretty good..hell the price is right, that's for sure..:smokin:

We already started the next grow and the clones were taken 5 days ago and put in the tubs under 24/0 light until the get rooted....

please be sure to check out the journal and follow along, this time we are going to try and be a bit more specific on the nute mix schedule , reservoir changes, PPM and the like (as much as stoners can...after all we will be smoking the last grow during this one..:grinjoint:)

here's the link...hope to see you there

Great grow. Have a couple of questions.
How do you regulate the water temp?
Would you call the water simmering, a rolling boil or a straight out big boil?
My tub is 16wx30x6deep,41 quarts do you think 4 12' 5 6' air stones enough?
Changing from dirt to hydro this weekend since i saw your grow
YOU GO CLOWNS

Hey sparkalicious...thanks

I'll try and answer your questions for you...

We just keep the box and even temp of about 80-82 above the plants and 70-75 below...it works out great with just our fan sucking out the heat from the lights with a 4" intake of fresh air at to bottom of the box...this keeps the water at about 70....we have a speed adjustment on the fan (fantech fan) and it takes a little balancing with the speed control to get the temp stable but easy enough

Our water looks between a simmer an a rolling boil with the air stones going...
We say you can never pump too much air into it...that being said..it's not the number of air stones but how much air volume you are pumping into the tub...the air stones just distribute said volume of air...so a bigger air pump is better than more air stones...

So just use as many airstones as your pump can handle and try to distribute the air evenly in the tub...

Hope this helps....and feel free to ask if you have more questions

good luck with your grow!

Just got back from skiing
now tending to the children

You guys are giving me some great ideas for my set-up... I do have a few questions though.

1) Do you have to have the roots submerged at all times?

2) Could you use the same basket set-up for a 360 sinning nozzle spray feeder and use the tub as a catch and drainage system back to a central reservoir?

You have my undivided attention now Skooters
:geek:

I don't see why that wouldn't work and then you wouldn't need the air stones.....

That sounds alot like a hydro mist system..

This is a DWC (Deep water culture) system that we use, So yes the roots are in the water the whole time and and they get air from the air stones.

One of a multitude of reasons we chose DWC being less set up costs/ less to go wrong...we only have to worry about an air pump, and if it craps out and goes un-noticed/or at bad time we have plenty of time to get it replaced without losing crop, even days.....and maybe worry about a clogged air stone..but neither has happened ...it's simple

With hydro mist you have a water pump/ spray heads and the like..if the pump craps out you better have a way to keep those roots water until you get it fixed...

those were just our thoughts.......hydro mist might be for you though

Maybe you Boyz have the right idea after all. I wuz just thinkin (and that seems to be the problem) that I could knockers off some high maintenance for the scale I'm stepping into...
7,000sq. ft. divided by 9 sq. ft. = Holly Sh*t... Catch my drift?...

Think like this only bigger.

I am used to working with an ebb and flow system and have had some great success...
Maybe I should just go with what I know.

holy crap!.......that is going to be a huge grow....you might be right going with an ebb/flow or hydro mist for something that big...You wouldn't need nearly the the mount of water/nut mix with those systems...but either way it's going to be alot water...

That is a big venture you got planned.....good luck!

I can't wait to see some pictures of that grow area full of buds!

You might consider breaking your grow into smaller zones with smaller holding tanks so if you get a controller failure and it decides to dump the entire reserve of ph down into the tank.......loss of one half of a crop is much worse than say 1/10. Just saying.

OMG sorry clowns for off topic. I wish I had your nutrient list and schedule, your grow was worthy of imitation by anyone with small space considering all the conditions and the grow time. (I never noticed but did you have a reservoir or just the 2 1/2 gallon box?)
