Photo Clone Vs. Auto
I wanted to make a new journal with the clones & (5) autos. I have popped (5) 3 bears OG autos in honor of my loss tonight. I lost 3 of 10 plants in the grow room with the possibility of loosing 2 more to nuts. Since the last run is now running light. For this run I have decided to do a

Photo Clone vs. Auto.

Right now we have the possibility of to have 2 Dosipunch clones as well but thats in the air as Dosipunch is showing signs of nuts.

Why do people cut the leaves on their clones? I have never done it and haven't seen a reason, just photos. Thanks in advance!

Update we will have 6 successful clones by the looks of it. Dosipunch turned out female so we can count the two clones of her in on this run. That will make this 11 all together.
I have been moving to a perpetual grow. Started with 3 plants, have 6 clones in veg, 10 more right behind them. I found when I flowered I was able to get my three big ladies into the space I had hoped to get 10 plants in. I'm now looking at where to put these added beautiful ladies... make sure you check your room and allow for space; they get BIGGER than you might think in flower. I had always heard that they can double in size during flower (I grow Sativa dominant strains so they tend to be bigger). I assumed that meant in height but it also grows much wider. One thing I hope will help is I grew my first crop in tomato cages. Next grow I'll use a more traditional cargo net.

The theory is if you cut the leaves the plant will root easier due to the vascular system being smaller and the lack of roots for uptake so the less cells to fill with fluid the faster they can push primordia and form new roots. On top of the fact cutting them may release hormone conducive to rooting also.

Thanks for the fast feedback, I had not heard that at all. It's interesting because for my clones I use a rooting hormone. The guidance I was given was to try and get bigger clones, so I have taken tops at between 4" and 10". I have never trimmed leaves. I have found that they droop hard for a day then begin to come back. The bigger they are the faster the root and ultimately grow. It's weird because I have traditional clones (still no leaf cutting) that seem to follow a similar path but the smaller they are the slower they grow. I'll experiment a little with my next clone set and devise some experiments to test this idea. It sounds like a reasonable hypothesis.

BTW, I have been VERY lucky wit clones and have had a 100% success rate in cloning. Fingers crossed for the clones I took yesterday - they are all big and looking droopy today. I'll post a pic early next week of all three sets of clones I have in process. My older girls (about 6 weeks) are in veg and getting ready to put in flower next week. My clone tent has clones taken about 4 weeks ago and repotted into 5 gal fabric pots. I try and wait until the have REALLY good roots and they take off in the larger pots. Last, I have a new set of 8 clones taken yesterday. As soon as they recover for another few days I'll post individual plant pics and clone grouping.

In my cloning I am also experimenting with using two clones in the same root ball. My hypothesis is that two clones will end up generating more bud sites and grow together as it it had a double step. The results so far have been amazing though I can't say it "worked" - yet.

The photo is of my second group of clones just before they were repotted into the 5G Fabric bags. You can see how long some of my stems are!

Making these cuts gears the cut to focus on root growth vs vegetative growth. It tells the plant hey we are in trouble focus on da roots!

Didnt see this but thank you @BeanTownFan420 :circle-of-love:

I have never used rooting hormone and have cut and not cut leaves and the ones I cut the smaller they are it seems the faster they root.
Best rooting hormone to use is aloe vera it is all natural and very effective

Awesome man! Clones are the best they up the yield and you get to harvest after harvest which is awesome so i say myself. Looks like you got a good rooting system set you should break free from the warming mat unless its cold in your grow area

Happy Thanksgiving Johnny. I have no idea what that even means or why you do it, but I do know turkeys tremble, you make a sweet pie with pumpkin (wtf) and the best cranberry sauce comes out of a can.

Thank you tra! Happy belated thanksgiving! We had a lot of that sweet cranberry sauce with pumpkin apple and french silk pie so you can say I double dipped @Trala ! We also had prime rib to go with the turkey this year vs ham which was a bit more appetizing might i say so myself lol
