Hempy Headquarters

Pretty girl @nekvt. Mephisto has a wonderful genetic touch, don't they? Did you cut the bottom out of the solo cup when you planted it in the bigger pot? May I ask why you didn't simply remove it from that solo? Just curious. Transplanting hempie girls has to be one of the easiest parts of this process.

You guys, we're gonna nail down what it takes to get 4 oz out of a hempy auto before I'll be satisfied. I won't be giving up my DDAs. If nothing else I'll run a tray of budscicles in that tiny closet. DDA cobs will be a regular part of my future. :battingeyelashes:

Rifleman told me that he pulled 6oz from a 3' SSDC in a hydro bucket . And that is the same face I made when he told me that. I know that Hempy isn't the same, but I don't see why we can't pull 4, unless of course You have poor lighting like me.

On a happy but not so happy note, I picked up a job digging trenches (97° today) for a sprinkler system... Yuk, but after I buy a new phone wife says I get to spend the rest on our grow. Won't be much, but it will definitely be going towards lighting. The guy I am working with is going to help me build a dedicated stealth cabinet, 2'x6'x6'. With separate chambers for photos/autos/and ventilation/electrical.

I think with my woodworking and design background, growing knowledge of cannabis growing, and love of working with my hands, building grow rooms, spaces, boxes, or closets would be rewarding mentally and financially. I have plans in my head for "the perfect" grow room. I have neither the space or finances to build it anywhere other then in my head at this point but would love to see it built and operational.

My neighbor does remodels, flips houses, etc. He will be getting most of the materials together for me for little to no cost and I give him a handful of weed and the labor is covered. The only reason I need a big stealth cabinet is because I don't want to shut everything down from Nov-feb for apartment inspections/repairs. Makes my semi perpetual a real perpetual, plus then I will be able to chuck some sativa pollen while I continue to grow my autos in relative safety. :ganjamon:

Just pushing a lawn mower up a big hill (and trying to keep hold of the @#%^ing thing going back down) affected me pretty badly the other day - and it was seven or eight degrees cooler than that. I sure hope you're using a trencher instead of a shovel. In any case, drink plenty of water, consider electrolytes, and - as I learned, to my chagrin - make sure you're decently hydrated before starting the activity, because you're highly unlikely to be able to recover from "a negative starting point" while you're out there working.

And buy yourself a coolie........one of those things with gel that goes around your neck and is soaked in cold water first. It helps to cool you down

I noticed this morning that my biggest 3 girls were looking sad and droopy and guessed they were feeling a bit confined in their solo cups so i up-potted them to their 3.5g final homes. They were indeed becoming a little rootbound and should enjoy all the extra leg room. The top 3 or 4 inches got a few scoops of vermiculite so we will see how that works out for extending the rootball a little. I was in a hurry so didn't have time to take any pics but I'll grab a few tomorrow when i head back there. They need to get growing... Im bored with nothing to do but water. Ready to start bending and tying lol.

That's about the worst part. I have all these grand images of how I am going to top at the 5th node on my DDA and SSDC....... In a few weeks. For now I can only drizzle a couple tablespoons of ¼ strength nutes and dream. Lol.

Three doobies after digging with a pick axe and spade shovel for 3½ hours really makes me spacey. I think I should puff some zebra......

Everyone's environment is so unique and what works for me may not work for anyone else, or it could work for everyone.

Ya know... you dance on a very important consideration here. Good to keep in mind as you move forward.
An example... I can clone without humidity domes during certain parts of the year... and I sometime do... so don't take that one home.

. My one gallon pots of gravel weigh about 10# dry

I usually use 1 hand to move pots. I put together a 6L gravel pot... 2 hands baby!

I suppose the proper(?) way would be to fabricate a duct connector where the fans are and another one connecting to the other vents.

In all my led lights, the fans blow out the sides.... this is where the ducting would have to run unless you change that. Your idea of collecting off the fan vents might be off.

Be my guest; the phrase has been around for decades and I'm certainly not the originator of it. I'm surprised you haven't heard it. Is everyone in your area (a) Not poor and (b) Not a hillbilly? It's pretty much describing... everything in my neck of the woods (which is more like an armpit of the woods).

Every armpit has a unique collection. Like collecting tiny spoons when traveling, I enjoy collecting the unique phrases.... instead of spoons.

Say... that's a beautiful relationship... but in my non-legal mindset, I worry about exposure. Plus... yaknow..... us house building types might run a bit on the shady side of life in general. Shady folks bring shady things.... and sometimes the law.

Yep, its a real pain. I think that 1/2 gallon will be plenty next time

Very very true statement. Luckily this is the same guy that loaned me the money to buy the tent I currently use, plus I do have the luck of living in a legal state and having been a pt grunt worker for him on and off over the past 4 years. Hopefully he can source my materials, his boss is on his way to a G&R concert in iceland
His grow advice is crap though. He insists that butchering (heavy defoliation) is the best.... Maybe that goes back to unique growing situations.
I don't like humidity domes, for no other reason than I've never honestly used one until I got these DDA and SSDC seeds.
Lol. Rambling. Haven't even medicated myself yet...

Picture this....
Your buddy's out drinkin one night. He's got a Oz on him that he just picked up from someone at a super cheap price. He drunk drives home and gets caught with the Oz. This much, in whatever state, puts him over the felony line or dumps him into the Fed system. He get's offered an opportunity to save 10 years of time in his life.
He rolls, turns in his connection and gets on with his day.

My world baby. The sharp pendulum device swinging above me as I lay strapped to the table.... colors one's world, that's for sure.
And, yes... Tead gets bonus points for using Poe.

I don't like humidity domes,

Me either. Damn clones... makin me work!

Ya know... try to keep in mind and politely discuss with your friend... things play out very differently in different worlds. His techniques are almost required when using smaller/weaker lights. I might guess he was growing at lower light levels than you.

In life we do things that may be frowned upon by others. Might be friends or family. Might be the legal system. Regardless, if the only person who knows that you're doing something 'shady" is you, and you don't tell anyone then your odds of being caught drop to pretty much zero. My dad used to have a saying (Tead, you can steal this if you like) that went like this. "If you are bending or breaking the law and blow your own horn about it to friends then be prepared to face the music"

It's so hard... the drive to share your love is hard. I see it in myself. I fight it..... not enough.
I live in a shotgun double (duplex). I rent the other side to a guy that usually uses it for an AirB&B. This brings a constant stream of visitors and potential smoking mates.
This may bite me in the ass some day... but I just have such a hard time not sharing love.

I completely understand the risks, which are very low here. I have lived most of my life in prohibition and it is a different kind of animal altogether. Even before we went for full recreational, weed was kind of brushed off. Now we can possess 1oz flower 7grams of oil and something weird like 500 grams of edibles...

I am big on spreading the love. That part (sharing) actually wasn't legal until last year. I guess it is something akin to one of those individual environment things again.

There's a good argument for hempies vs. big DWC. A 23-gallon reservoir weighs almost 200 pounds, LMFAO. Of course, those don't tend to get moved on a regular basis, but one never knows. I can remember the very first time I ever ran one, trying to follow the general advice of changing reservoirs once per week. I was thinking I needed to keep the thing topped off and, well, young plants don't transpire a great deal of moisture per day. Took both the (then) spouse and I to pull/push it in to the bathroom and then dump it over the little lip into the shower. The next couple of weeks passed without a reservoir change, and then I thought to spend $1.98 on a little squeeze-bulb siphon pump at the hardware store to facilitate draining the reservoir in place (to smaller containers). Later, of course, the plant took care of emptying the reservoir.

In all my led lights, the fans blow out the sides.... this is where the ducting would have to run unless you change that. Your idea of collecting off the fan vents might be off.

Ah. You favor exhaling, but never inhaling, eh? Some folks would rather cool a fixture with air that is actually cool.

Otherwise, why bother with either? If you only concern is the quantity of air moving through the panel, you can simply swap in larger internal fans (assuming you feel the need in the firs place) and call it done, yes?

In my perfect world (ha ha ha), all grow spaces have two separate ventilation runs - one for the lighting, and one for the space in general. Carbon filter on the latter, of course.

(My world hasn't been in such a state for years  . But that's still my preference.)

Tead dreams of such things. It should be noted that the dream has been just a dream in my mind since the '70s.
Drag. Every day... every way.
One of these daze brother... I get all teary eyed every time another state legalizes med. or rec. My people back home are still going to prison for brick weed.

So after careful consideration I have come to the conclusion that germinating a seed in a hempy solo cup with 1/4 strength nutrients is the easiest and best way I've found with a very very high success rate.
