That is your little hempy cemetery where your root balls go to die?

I have used clear soda bottles in the past, but the plants, while they turned out okay, never seemed to thrive and green algae was abundant.
I ripped it open just now to sort of show how the taproot stopped in the middle section and branched out to feed off of the reservoir. Is that dark bare-ish stripe thru the middle just were the mass broke apart a bit?
Otherwise, I'd wonder why the bare bit.
Yeah, she pretty much just dropped feeders down from the coco to establish directly in the reservoir. She held up all of that gravel for the pic. Probably 2-3 lbs of rocks. So it looks as though the roots bypassed the middle portion (of course not entirely) and built it's root system in the reservoir.
Yup, I didn't wanna mess with it. I think I am going to plant something else tonight. Now that my rocks are all shiny and new.HA!!!!
You didn't cover the bottom!
I don't usually cover 2L bottoms either... for the obvious messy reasons.
What I couldn't help noticing is that the pot nekvt has his/her plant in is not light proof yet the plant is doing quite well. So is it a myth that the pot has to totally block the light or the roots won't flourish? What would happen if you were to grow a plant in a clear plastic container?
