Hempy Headquarters

That is your little hempy cemetery where your root balls go to die?

I notice that in my coco capped hempys I get tons of lateral roots that build up in there. Some end up very exposed at the surface. They get very green and solid like the exposed roots of an old tree.

I light proof my clear containers with duct tape. The small containers have a red wrapper and I do nothing to them besides poking the hole. My girls do great like this.

I have used clear soda bottles in the past, but the plants, while they turned out okay, never seemed to thrive and green algae was abundant.

The problem was space. Subtract 1/2in from the entire inner surface... you were going from a 4in pot to a 3in pot at least. That brings your 2L pot down to 1.5L and represents 1/4 of your total growing area. Feel free to poke at my math.

Paint your pots folks!
Don't trust those colored 5g buckets from the hardware store.... paint them too. If it's translucent at all, paint it... or cover it... whatever.

I agree. I'm pretty sure that math is right. Mo roots is mo budz. Even a lazy guy like me learned to wrap reflective duct tape around my hempys. My root balls are pretty. Here is one been sitting a few weeks...

So it looks as though the roots bypassed the middle portion (of course not entirely) and built it's root system in the reservoir.

Is that dark bare-ish stripe thru the middle just were the mass broke apart a bit?
Otherwise, I'd wonder why the bare bit.
I ripped it open just now to sort of show how the taproot stopped in the middle section and branched out to feed off of the reservoir.

Yeah, she pretty much just dropped feeders down from the coco to establish directly in the reservoir. She held up all of that gravel for the pic. Probably 2-3 lbs of rocks.
HA!!!!
You didn't cover the bottom!
I don't usually cover 2L bottoms either... for the obvious messy reasons.
Yup, I didn't wanna mess with it. I think I am going to plant something else tonight. Now that my rocks are all shiny and new.

What I couldn't help noticing is that the pot nekvt has his/her plant in is not light proof yet the plant is doing quite well. So is it a myth that the pot has to totally block the light or the roots won't flourish? What would happen if you were to grow a plant in a clear plastic container?

I've used plastic Mountain Dew bottles off and on for years. Always figured the green blocked most useful light, and never really had an algae issue.

When I did DWC totes, some of them were "approaching clear" (translucent) other than their actual lids, and I never had an algae issue. A healthy plant could more or less fill a hu

But I'm a firm believer in regular supplementation with H₂O₂. As in all things, "YMMV" applies here.

Dry spot above the reservoir, was my assumption.

Alright, I am going to soak a seed tonight. It is more to start another plant to fill the emptiness of my tent than for any specific purpose.. I have much better genetics, but it isn't their time yet.

Someone here gets to pick which one. I only have one of each

I don't know much about seeds. The blackberry has nice stripes, the unknown is kind of speckled. Just bored, day off from appointments. Effin around in the garden.

On the unknown bag seed, is there any chance it came from a sack of MexiBrick? Otherwise - and I kind of doubt it, since the seed is strangely uncrushed, lol - I vote for the Blackberry, even though it's got "Kush" in its name.

Nah, the only thing I know about it is that I found it stashed in a joint container. I have memories of it possibly being from a gram of permafrost... I smoke so damn much. And started labeling too late apparently.
The blackberry kush was labeled as such at a recreational store and also a bag seed. I only know what they tell me, lol.

No mexi-brick in my neck of the woods :ganjamon:

I will keep thinking

One week since my last pictures and the growth is really hopping now. My environment is nearly perfect this time and the dwarf star is putting in some good work.

I was in a hurry so the pics arent the best but they get the point across.
Top is Chemdawg, middle is LSD and bottom is the GSC stealing the show! My little Purple Haze is still in a solo cup. It has topped itself apparantly. The middle growth just stopped and the two side branches started being dominant. Whatevs... Im happy.

You have a plant that is finished vegging and decide to put it into 12/12 lighting to flower it. The breeder information says it flowers for 8-9 weeks.

When does that 8-9 weeks start? The day you put the plant into the tent with 12/12 lighting? Or does it start when you start to see buds forming?

I guess that since I harvest based upon the color of the tricrhomes it doesn't really matter. I do like to know what everyone else thinks.

I've always started counting from pistils. I also use trich color as the final say bit starting from pistils has always been close enough to right for me.
