Hempy Headquarters

See, that's what I am trying to avoid especially with the flowering plants.

We just have differing philosophies about that. It’s all good.

I feel that, as long as the perlite is still moist, it’s okay for the reservoir to be nearly empty. But you don’t want the perlite to start drying out.

I think it’s all hempy plants, cause I’ve noticed the same thing and now add it at every watering to prevent issues.
:passitleft:
My tap water is about 180ppm according to public records anyway. I use only maxibloom 1tsp per gallon. I haven't seen a cal or mag deficiency in any of my sativas. Do you think it is the sativas being light feeders or just the components in the maxibloom? I am just finishing my first round of hempys with the sativas, 2 weeks into my autos but they seem healthy.

Totally could be the sativas, I’ve only grown one. I did have one strain (OG Kush) that never really showed any symptoms so it could totally be strain dependent. But I haven’t had any issues with adding it every watering either. I am currently doing an experiment with nothing but base nutes, so we will see. Of course they are both OG Kush clones so it might never be an issue either.

I just looked up Maxibloom and they do recommend a cal/mag supplement so it’s probably not got a lot in it.

I’m glad it’s working for you, but it sounds like more work than I would want to do.

So you want to be a lazy grower... ehhh???
Tead knows how. Osmo.... 3.3grams/liter of medium.
Water ever 2-5 days depending on your pot size.
Move on with your day.[/QUOTE]
I may have to try this one day when my maxibloom gets scarce. I do love me some lazy...

Ganja, I am wondering if you might have calcium and magnesium in your water?

Bingo! :thumb:

This truly is the ultimate lazyman’s way. I find that the plants on O+ aren’t necessarily as lush as the ones getting MegaCrop, but it gets the job done (with NO mixing if you have enough calcium and magnesium in your water)

It has been awhile since I looked at my city water data. I know that there is some of both, but if I recall correctly both were awfully low. I will just keep on keeping on until something doesn't work.
Here are the autos in Hempy.

I do calmag and ph down, but I generally mix 5gal and have pre-set measuring cup set for 5gal mixing. So easy.

Osmocote Plus, lol. Still loving it, I assume?

That's my thought process over the years as well.
For me, it's the only hydro style I can do in the heat. Hydro in the 80's... not so good. Hempies in the 80's... works all day. Can you imagine a res at 80f+?

Sweet spot, lol. (Yes, I saw the "+.")

Reservoir too hot, no problem - just add DO.

Reservoir too cold... problem.

DO added by the obvious, of course; either go active or use a reservoir that is small enough to require refilling more often (and then always do so with a highly-oxygenated mix).

I'd expect that running a reservoir that's too large (IOW, hole too high in container wall) will behave like a soil-grown plant that's allowed to sit around too wet (/waterlogged).

DO is a "thing," just like nitrogen, calcium, et cetera - and needs must be supplied to the plant like everything else that it uses. With fully-passive hydroponics, the grower and the setup must, for best results, do what air pumps (etc.) do in an active setup.

I do believe it's the shortest post I've ever seen under your moniker....

I'm feeling a little fragmented right now, lol?

I believe I did once respond to either a thread or a PM by posting: "No."

Do the archives on 420 go back to the 80s when that allegedly happened? Cause if you can't show us it didn't happen.

It was within the past few years - so if you'd like to search through my 9,000 messages, I suggest you start on this end.

That... would have been Fido-Net. I've only been haunting 420Magazine.com since early 2009.

I have a plant growing outside that is a pretty nice looking plant. I can't help but notice that every evening about an hour before dark the plant droops/sags and gives the appearance of having been over watered. But in the morning she's happy as a clam again. Might be common, just not something I've encountered before.
