Headroom Incident By Gwhunran 2022

Headroom Incident
Day 4 since flip

Reservoir change. 100% of GH three part liquid for 18 gal Late Growth. PHed 5.5-6.0. 60 ml Cal-Mag+

I expect to see pistils when the next res. change is due. I'll use GH recommendations for "Transition" to flower.

No change to light height or power. 450w out of 600w, 30" inches above screen, measured at 45k lux

AC set to re-circulation mode. Fans running at max.

CO2 bucket bubbling away.

Still tying down and tucking toward the back. Several branches have been topped, mainly to slow them down a little and keep things even.

Good afternoon Amigo. :ciao:
Everything looks organized into their place and growing well.
Just wondering you said you topped a couple, is that just to get it out of the way.
I generally don't top in flower.
Hope everything is going well today .

Whatever you're doing it's amazing to see you spread them out on that scrog net. Fantastic job.

Thanks Budman,
I am still tying down around the edges in front and tucking in back as I can't really reach them to do a proper tie down. I don't really have room anywhere to tie down in the middle of the plants. They will fill in the middle and front pretty easy and when they get a little taller you won't be able to really see the back except on a top view picture. If these plants don't change their ways, they'll be on the tall side for me.

Headroom Incident
Day 6 since flip

Morning check, everything normal

Light not changed but measurements were taken at canopy level. 450w out of 600w, 30" from screen, measured 45k lux at canopy.

Not seeing any definite pistils but the tops are showing that something is changing.

Day 8 since flip

Morning check, everything normal.

I can verify that the front three bigger plants are female. The smaller one in the back is still unknown. It will have to show more for me to see it. These were feminized seed and I haven't gotten a male yet after many years.

The plants are still growing rapidly. Fun times.

Morning check, everything running normally.

Plant in the back verified female. All four now throwing pistils.

Replacing spent CO2 bucket. Making two buckets, one for here, the other for the Panama.

Headroom Incident
Day 10 since flip

Morning check, everything normal.

The reservoir requires PH down every day sometimes twice to keep it in acceptable range.

The plants have been and still are stretching hard.

I have let them go. No more tying and tucking required. There is still space in the back but I think as the buds grow those back border stalks will lean back to get more light, so the space will be utilized.

Still perfect. :adore:
Every leaf is immaculate.
Great canopy.
That is going to be crazy when they stretch and fill.
You will need a chainsaw to harvest.
Hope your having a great day my friend.

I think they are stretching. If not, I hate to think what that will be like. There are branches that have grown a foot in a week with very wide node spacing. They are throwing pistils at every node, just not real visible yet from a distance. Starting to smell a little, can't put my finger on what it reminds me of yet. As these seeds came from a small IL breeder with CA roots, there really isn't a lot of info on what to expect.

Reservoir change day. 100% of GH three part liquid nute amounts for 18 gal. in "Transition", PHed to 5.5-6.0, 60ml CalMag+.

Plants are stretching hard, wide node spacing.
The tallest shoots closest to the lights still look good so I will leave the light height the same. I still seem to be getting pretty good light penetration to the lower parts.

Good morning my friend. :ciao:
Garden is spectacular this morning. :bravo:
Just curious why your light is still only at 75 % ?
Is it too big/strong for the height of the tent.
Take care.

Thanks Bill.
Interesting that you bring up light power. Bottom line is very little increase in LUX from 450w to about 615w as measured at the wall with a wattmeter.
I was curious when I bought these lights about the output at different positions of the light dimmer as it had no markings on it. I was not expecting my results.

Dimmer knob illustration HLG 600R.JPG

Instead of measuring 300w at the halfway point, I measured 500w. From 630w on there was no increase with more than a quarter turn left on the dimmer.
The main take away though was there was very little increase in measured LUX from 450w to 630w. I don't have those figures at hand, but it didn't make sense to run more than 450w from a heat generated and electric cost standpoint.

All this being said.
I increased the height by few inches and bumped the power up to 475w. All done before reading your post.

Headroom Incident
Day 19 since flip.

Reservoir change day. 100% of recommended amounts of GH three part liquid nutes for 18gal, "Early Bloom."
PHed to 5.5-6.0, added 30ml KoolBloom, and 60ml CalMag+.

Light was raised about 5" which should put it about 35" above the screen and about a foot from the canopy's highest point. Power level was increased to 475w out of 600w. Measured 55k LUX at canopy center.

CO2 bubbling away.

Isn't that interesting, if I had my meter I'd check mine.
So what is the last 1/4 turn on the dial ? False advertising.
I forgot about heat down there.
It's freezing here this morning.
But that makes complete sense.
Thanks, have a good one. :ciao:
