Greenislands grow journal 09' #2

This room will have the old 3 galloon pots and all the same as usual. Im currently building the new TEKed out version of the ebb and gro as we speek. Im just waiting for a few more parts so I can finish it, take pics and post the TEK here. Im building a second room right now thats the same size as the one is this journal however it will have 5 gallon pots and have 2 -1000 watt lumatek dimmables on a rail in that room. I am also going to circulate the air through both rooms for a number of reasons. I only have one CO2 generator and one CO2 PPM meter so Im just going to be circulating all the air between the two rooms constantly, that way I dont need a new CO2 generaotor system. Anyhow I apologize for not having the TEK up yet, the hydro store "forgot" my order so its taking forever for the grommets and "T"s. I promise I will have the TEK up soon though. Stay Posted! lol.
As far as this room is concerned, its three days later and the plants look a little sad but Im sure its just from the transplanting. I hope that here in about a week they will perk up and have sprouted some new leaves. Heres to hoping!

I sense another PotM or MotM for you a few months down the road Green Island. Glad I do not have to pay your electricity bills; do you have your own hydroelectric dam somewhere nearby?

if i ever wanted to profit from this (which i dont) i would buy a house in the country and install all renewable energy so i could be off the grid. hydro-electric-wind-solar whatever. then i would run a million watts muahahaha!

The electricity from this room is minimal in comparison to the electricity my house already pulls. My house is rather large and has an AC unit that runs 24/7 in the summer. Its just insane. Before I ever even installed this room I was paying like $400-$450 a month in electric bills. I use 600 watters for their efficiency but soon I will have the two 1000watters and Im sure that will raise my bill by about $65 a month. But compared to $450 whats another $60 gonna hurt ya know? I also have other projects like a Basil garden and nemerouse other medicinal or gourmet mushrooms (which im currently trying to sell them to restaurants for a profit). In other words it all takes electricity and I dont feel like giving up any of my hobbies so it looks like the high electric bills are here to stay. This room adds $150 tops to my electric bill a month and if I was still going to the dispensaries I would be paying 3 times that a month for me and my girls med-pot, so this is the obviouse path for me to go. I am however looking into solar and wind power to help out. Especially with all the incentives there are out there! I am not looking at hydroelectric just yet though, lol. However it would be SWEET! I hope to get the parts for the TEK today...wish me luck!

Just looked over the bubble hash demo, Don't think you could you have made it any easier. Great job. So of course I had to come check out you new journal. Its already a winner and can not wait to follow the rest. Great job again. + rep

Hi there Greenislands! I love your clean neat set-up!! It is really cool how you have diy'd the ebb and gro buckets!! controller too? This was the way I was planning on going when I first switched to hydro.......but went for the GH AF's instead because of limited space.
Anyway, I found this thread searching ozone generators. You mentioned at the beginning you are running one in conjunction with carbon filters. I am curious of your experiences with it so far....how good does it work? I am not sure that you've even tried it yet?? I know there are a lot of criticism on them and that many growers dont feel they're safe. I 've built a 8' x8' x8' 'dump room' to send all of my exhaust to, including the HOT ac exhaust...... I am going to put a fan in there to keep the air moving and put the uvo3nair 1000 at about 7' high in there..... I have all of the stuff together and am in the process of loading a bowl so I can think correctly about this, haha. But I am just kind of checking out how others are using them and what they think of them.....so if you have the time, I 'd much appreciate your comments!

Thanks!! Happy Growing to You!! +rep2

:welcome:growin man. Sorry, I mustve missed your question somehow. To answer your question YES I have been using ozone generators for some time, I dont know what I would do without them. I use the corona discharge uvonairs. I make sure they have atleast 6 ft of duct before going into any room that Im going to be breathing in. You have the right idea it sounds. Just dont put it in the grow room unless its in the carbon filter and the exhaust fan is on. You could probably put the ozone generator on a timer in that room if its overkill (I cant remember what model the 1000 series is). I have an 8" with 1-CD (corona discharge [zero, maintanence, never burns out]) unit and the 12" with 3-CD units. The later is WAY overkill. But I love them. And if you use them correctly and practice commen sense they are rather safe and wont hurt your plants either.:rollit:

Thank you very much for the info, greenisland!! It sounds like you got the real-deal model. Mine is the 1000jr and is supposed to do 1000cf. It does have the 60wt bulb that needs to be replaced.......That's a real cool idea putting it inside a carbon filter! If it works alright in the dump I'll get the better unit---I want over-kill, haha! I've never had a smell issue until this summer with the AK and WW........smell makes it down to the bottom of our hill......

Well, if you dont mind I'd like to kick back and see your grow happen----and I wish you the best with the buckets!! Now I need to find those rubbermaid res's you mentioned; dont think I've seen them that big with wheels......

Thanks again!!!

Well than it sounds like I will be drilling me some rivets to get it off. lol. Thanks for the info Mcbuds! Im hoping it doesnt come attatched though, and no I had no special arrangement or anything.

NOTICE: This thread will be split into two seperate threads for ease of use. This thread will stay the same while the other will be named "Greenislands 5 Gallon upgrade Ebb and Gro TEK". This one will saty on topic with the grow room, while the other one focuses on the 5 Gallon Ebb and Gro TEK. That way questions dont get mixed up etc. Thanks everybody, and as soon as I get the link I will add it to my signature, stay posted everyone, and thanks for reading!.

needs lots off hydroton lol .2 runs and done. also beware of your flood time it will stay wet watch your salt build up you will need to increase your pump size in the controller to move more water.dont want that water draining slow.and it doesnt matter 3/4 hose if your pump cant keep up.55 gallon wont do it for your rez bro.At 23, 2 gallon pots in full bloom.the girls use 15 gallon in 3 to 4 days.you need a 75or at least a 60 to hold a week with 10 plants.you hurt yourself by doing the 2 pipe feed. its a gravity system you will get more presure in a single outlet hose your lines will clog less flow.it will cause bad PH problems down the road with old nutes in the lines. The less 90's turns you have the better.it looks great gj hope i could give you some advice.

The original pumps that come with the system are supossed to be able to be to handle up to 48 pots (though thats commonly seen as not to realistic with the 50 gallon reservoir). So I was assuming that they would be sufficient, but if they arent for some reason pumps are cheap so Ill just get a larger one. Hell! I have pumps all over the place, Im sure I have some to use laying around here somewhere.

OMG. Do you know how much hydrotron your going to invest into this venture? There are easier methods to growing indoor trees bro. But Good Luck and I definately won't be missing this part of the grow op. Bigger is better when you can go in that direction. Might want to upgrade the pumps to over 200gph but stay under 300 gph cause it floods to fast. I tried a mag 3. Didn't work very well and had alot of waterclean up.
