Grape Ape & Golden Tiger Hit the Shower - DBHBB & 600W HPS - Winter 2016

I'm doing great and the girls in the shower are doing ... better. Not "GREAT!", but much better than a week ago.
I'll clean them up a little more and shoot some pic's this weekend. Don't hold your breath for quality veg porn. I so badly want to get them into the bigger pots but I think I'm still a few days away from being able to sex them. New growth looks pretty good but still small/stunted. It may be the small pots. Either that or I'm still struggling to wake up the microherd from their slumbers. I have a few ugly old fans left on them I want to trim.

Have a great day and evening, my friend.
Heck - all the rest of you should have a great day, too! :cheesygrinsmiley:

Resist cutting the fans till they are in full swing. This way they will keep cannibalizing the old fans and not wreck the nice new ones.

Missed the transition from your last grow to this one but caught up now. Good thing as don't want to miss a Sensi Star grow....my all time favorite indica.:Namaste:

Glad you found us brightlight!
You are just in time for it to get interesting. I'm glad you like SS because it appears 3 out of 4 may be GASS. The GT+ are looking a little balls-ish to me. I hope to be certain and up-pot the girls in the next day or two.

Well ... cough ... ummmm ...

Here you go. I've been holding off in hopes of having something worth showing. I'm still waiting. :cheesygrinsmiley:
I hate boring you all with feeble veg' photos.

Bear in mind, one week ago, this is what I had to work with. It is still a mystery to me what initially went wrong with this batch of soil. At this point I was still waiting for them to show sex and they had been flushed in 1 gal. pots to try and kick start their recovery.

Just over one week later, I am pleased to report the final results: Using the sexing video, 6 of the 8 seeds germinated are female. The 2 males (one of each strain) were chopped.

The final four were up-potted into their 7 gal pots for the remainder of the ride. Three of the four were transplanted two days ago but one GT+ straggler was transplanted yesterday. It looks a little sad still but the others bounced back in a day. They are small but happy now. I would like to have veg'd them for another 2 weeks to 1 month. This is where I'm at this morning. The photos are with HPS lighting so the color looks more yellow than it really is. GT+ are right-front and left-rear. GASS are diagonally opposite: left-front and right-rear.

Here are the final four

This is the one that was just transplanted. I'm confident she will perk up.

Still battling RH, but it is better than in the past. I can keep it around 50% most of the time. It should be easy enough to drop it a little as the plants get farther into bloom. At some point RH will probably end up too high.

The two extra female plants (one of each) were put back with my mother plants to see if I can veg them for the upcoming outdoor summer grow. This is the other Grape Ape/Sensi Star with a little supercropping.

That's it for now. Thanks for hanging in there with me. I think things will get more interesting from here on out.

:Namaste:

Wow, Major. They're bouncing back nicely. That big pot love is going to be a big help.

An observation about the two plants you intend to veg until they can go outside - remember that if you put them out before about the third week in May the drop in light hours will send them into flower since they are already sexually mature. They'll need to hang out in the veg tent for a long stretch. You can always top the crap out of them to keep them in control and you may find that a root pruning is in order at some point.

One week later ... ! :cheesygrinsmiley: Startling, isn't it?

I've always had a soft spot for suffering plants, and the challenge to see if I can heal 'em. In this soil, when they recover, they really recover!

Thanks PeeJay. I appreciate you looking out for me!
Yeah - I did this last summer. I will veg them under 16 hours of light.
I try to match the photoperiod of June 1st since that's as early as I can be pretty sure of outside growing conditions. Last year I was lucky and was able to move them out earlier, but ya never know...
I may need to bonzai them somewhat to keep them with the space I have available.

Love it. It's great to see a potential issue+recovery with pics. They really were sorry looking...lmao. It's funny how sometimes that challenged runt can really turn into a swan in the end. I have one that's showing such a strange growth pattern, it may be genetically fukt...but it's alive and I want to see what it will do.

Me too. I find it challenging but rewarding. As soon as they went "flabby" in the 1 gal pots, I knew I had to either cull them all and live with no grow for a couple of months, or try to nurse them back and live with a greatly reduced yield. Since yield isn't really an issue, I figured I should keep 'em around and try to learn something from the experience.

We all knew they would! :)
Good work Major!
Thanks Canna! I wasn't so sure. I'm hoping the soil in the 7 gal pots doesn't have the same problem as that in the 1 gal pots. If it does, these could go "flat" in a few days and need another rescue. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.

DrMajor! :)
..and of course.. Go Golden Tigers!!! :high-five:
Go Tigers! :cheertwo:

These are anything BUT feeble photos. I am stoked to see them all coming back so nicely. Happy shower is here again. Good advice from you and PeeJay on moving outdoors.
Thanks SF! They finally look like they could make it to the finish line.

I'm glad I hung in there with them. Best of luck to your with your ugly duckling!

Congrats major.......better have a ton of soil for out doors......those veg plants are gonna be huge.......:high-five:
My current plan is some sort of raised bed with about 100 gal of amended soil for each plant plus whatever dirt they want under those beds. I might go with LARGE soft pots since they are actually cheaper than building beds.

:bravo:
Go big or go home! I LOVE it Pita!
Thanks Reg. Good to see you around!
