Grape Ape & Golden Tiger Hit the Shower - DBHBB & 600W HPS - Winter 2016

I just dropped my light to 9 1/2 hours on for my Tikal since it's so close to the lights. I might drop it another thirty min next week depending on how she looks.

I promise your GTs are not done growing yet :MoreNutes:
You got that right, Smokey. I moved the lights up twice ... yesterday. The Tigers look to be a couple inches taller just since those pictures.

Saw your cool pics of the big pile of dirt & goodies plus your tractor for outdoor garden. Real nice....I've seen large outdoor plants planted on top of the ground in a big mound of soil.:Namaste:
That's the plan.
If it wasn't for gophers, ground squirrels, rabbits and deer, I'd just pile up some soil and let 'em rip. As it is, I need fencing and gopher cages.

:tokin:

Yeah, it appears to be more spring-like here. It was nearly 60 degrees yesterday but cooler today and lots more rain in the forecast. Warm weather + rain = possible flooding. Our bridge is getting another attack, but so far, so good.

I went ahead and gave them all their first GE drench in 7 gal pots this morning. They got 3 ml Tea, 8 ml Transplant and 28 ml GE total for the four of them. They each drank 2 gallons with almost nothing left over. This evening, at lights-on, the get Destressed. We'll see what that does for 'em.

Wow, what a recovery! Congrats on the save!

I was following your outdoor grow from last year and thought I had followed your new journal, but Doh!, I failed miserably as my son says, lol. Anyway, glad I found your new journal and like I said, I'm betting you're relieved to have saved them. Now, to just figure out what went wrong....

BTW, I'm loving the pile o dirt you got there and as always I love the outdoor shots of your area in Oregon, I just wish we could afford a nice couple of acres just south of Eugene or over by the coast. We're so over Vegas after 15 years here.

Keep em green and sticky :peace:

Weekend Update (week #10)
25 days since flip to 12/12, 16 days from first pistils

Things are looking better and back on track. These crazy Tigers grew about one foot last week. After they finally got their first GE drench all the girls got down to business. One Tiger took a full week longer than the other to "flip" and still looks like she is a week behind her sister. When GASS are farther along, I'll reduce the lights to 11/13. All will get Brix tomorrow.

I'm in a quandary as to when to give GASS their Cat drench. Since the plants are on the small side, they don't need a drench more than about once per week. I think the next time I give them anything (1/4 Trans-water) will still be several days out. That means their next drench after that won't be for nearly two weeks. That feels like it will be on the late side for their Cat #1.

This is probably more pictures than you care to wade through, but I pulled them out of the shower and decided to go crazy with the camera this morning. None of them came out great since this phone weirds out the colors and focus when there isn't a lot of light.

Everyone showering together. Pretty tough to capture them all now. For scale, the tiles are 4". I've been raising the HPS twice per day. Luckily, I can leave my LEDs low over the GASS while the main light is up high.

This is my attempt at a cheap DIY outdoor 75 gal pot. I bought some metal lath at the local big box. The cost to make one w/o a bottom is under $7. With the gopher-proof bottoms, they are still under $9. Each 8' piece of lath makes one 30" diameter by 24" high "pot".

Have a great Sunday gang! If you have any feedback on timing that Cat drench, please let me know what you think.

:thanks: :Namaste:

I can't wait... :)

Me too. Epic or epic fail.

Pitbull brownies, "The Brownies that bite back." TM
Mrs. PITA tells me they are awesome. I'll let you know in about an hour...

No shit. I see 4 of them are gone. :bitingnails:

...or maybe 2 big ones ;)

Nah - The others were eaten by my wife over the last couple of days.
Very nice buzz so far, but I'm still "accelerating"...

Major....do they "ship" well????...:surf:. the brownies my brotha! They look sooo good right now!
Oh , and about the CD with GASS...hold off , it won't be too late. It's far too early right now.
I like your outdoor pot idea...but i have some concerns/ideas/questions. Excellent idea for the cage.
Your plants have come along really nicely ...like all those very colour rich , lower small fans. Looking very healthy overall and will reward your patience. Cheers to ya Major.:Namaste:

I just read back through the past month and got a nice perspective/timeline on how everything went - pretty cool! :cheesygrinsmiley: It's almost like a primer for a future grower with bum soil. I've been through the same thing a few times - just a bad batch for unknown reasons - but you get them into more soil and get a good shot of Transplant/Tea into them, and they straighten right out.

In your case, it worked out half great! Those Tigers are gonna be about as big as you'd want them! :cheesygrinsmiley: The Apes'll be small but they'll be potent. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Are you sure the Apes need Energy? They're pretty dark. Seeing the last pics, my instinct was to Brix the crap out them in this window. They're dark green and spiky and busy growing trichs. This would be a good time to get as much photosynthesis as possible out of the leaves. It' be doing 1/2 strength Brix every 4 days for a week or two, while watching for leaf fatigue. Then I'd give them Energy to help with that, and look for the Cat window. I've had some interesting results from going straight from Energy to Cat/Cat without the in between rest. Then I'll flush with the 1/4 Trans, and alternate with Energy/Tea til chop.

At least think about Brixing the Apes more often than weekly at this phase - they look like they're kinda explosive right now. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Tigers for the Win! I don't know why I like that name so much, Golden Tiger. But the plant looks great too. As big as you could want it to be.
All the best, Cheers!

Edit: meant to add. Really great pictures fresh out of the shower. I love the deep green-bushy-ness of the Apes and the thin leaves on the Golden Tiger really sweet.
