GDB: Old Dog -- New Tricks

Thanks for the great solo pics GDB, they all deserve the spotlight! They're going to cute and loaded come harvest time.:thumb:

And the shag...I can almost hear it whisper from here!
Thanks Shed. And speaking of shags whispering....

I have a quick Sunday Update.

It's Flip 24 for the Phase II girls and both Fat Kid's Cakes have begun devouring shag leaves.

This doesn't cause me major concern. I figure the leaves are doing their intended job. But...I'm not used to seeing them devoured in such numbers and so quickly. They usually go only 1 or 2 at a time.

Anyway, I had planned to up the dosage of the MaxiBloom for the Godberry plant because her green is just a shade lighter than I think ideal. But now I think I'll just increase the dosage for all of them.

Maxi's "Aggressive Feed" schedule lists 5.7g of MaxiBloom and 3.5ml CALiMAGic for this stage of growth. I'm currently at 4.5g of MaxiB and 3ml calmag. On their next feed I go up to 5g of MaxiB and remain at 3ml calmag. What could go wrong?!😁

It was a wake and bake Sunday for me this morning!

Lately I can barely keep my paws out of my Grove Bag of Sour G.:yummy:

Thanks for stopping by and have yourself and relaxing Sunday!

If you're losing your lowers like that it's most likely a lack of nitrogen, but there isn't as much of it in the Maxi Bloom, so boosting that might not help there. If there's N in the calmag that might do the trick though.
But since there is some N in MaxiBloom increasing the dosage has to increase the amount the plant gets, albeit modestly. But that's what I seek, a modest increase. :Rasta:

True, but you're also boosting other nutrients, albeit modestly, that may not be necessary.
I'm trusting the manufacturer. If it says it's okay by the schedule then it's okay by me!

I'm a first-time user. I'm not going to start fiddling around with their ratios. One of my aims when using new nutrients is to gauge how they perform when used in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines.

This is when I'd give them a gram of lawn fertilizer- 32-2-8- so pretty much nothin' but N....
But that's just me-
It doesn't look like you've got any burnt tips, so you may get away with upping all the nutes- and you're still under their max dose...

My indoor plant dropped the lower third of it's leaves in a span of about 2 days- I think they fell off from lack of light, though- they didn't turn yellow, they just died and fell off..

That little Godberry is lookin' good in there, GDB👍

I left more than I usually do on this pair. Some of them have been fairly under-lit, as well.

Thanks for complimenting the diva! :)

Hey! why you cut their heads off 🤣 they look great shoulder down 🤣 👌
I've looked it the maxi chart once just to see max veg and flower doses then I fed how I felt fit but I can always check run off to see how they are eating 👍 I don't know grams or measurements I just scoop to 750ppm 🤣 base mix is 400ppm.. in transition now so trying 50/50 grow & bloom for 3 weeks then 25/75 for two weeks then straight bloom for the home stretch.

Jealous! Enjoy bro 👌 when I get round to my SSSDH I'll get that feeling again 🤞

Thanks GV. SSSDH? Is that some kind of memory card? 😁

Hello all.

It's Flip 26 for the Phase II plants and there's not a lot to report! :)

Temps have been steady around 84F and humidity is about 48%. To achieve this I have to keep the side door of the tent open during lights on and direct air in from the air conditioner in the window next to the tent. It's not a primo set-up, but it works during the summer months. With the tent closed and the light off overnight, it does fine on its own!

I fed them all today and upped the dosage of the MaxiBloom from 4.5g to 5g per gallon. I took the CALiMAGic up from 3ml to 3.5. (The Maxi schedule -- and all the sub-schedules -- call for the increase in calmag in early bloom but then a decrease in late bloom, so this increase will be temporary.)

After giving the two Fat Kid's Cakes a closer look, I confirmed that the shag leaves that both plants let go had been in light-deprived positions. That is, they were on the lowest tier of the plant and also were covered by other large shag leaves. So it's no surprise that they said see ya'. There are some others down there that will probably be leaving soon too. :Rasta:

I took down the Blue Cindy from the New Trick group the other day. It was an emergency procedure.

I'm feeling pretty good right now and can't go into the details of how I screwed that plant at the end. But I will explain in my next post (or the one after that :)).

Thanks for looking in.

Haha so you was a techie guy 🤓
super silver sour diesel haze was recommended to me when I described a terp profile to a breeder. I experienced it once and loved it! I've only smelt it around a handful of times but such a rare and unique smell, taste and high I'd love to find it again.

I would be happy with 9 of those little divas 🤣 👌

I hope the emergency procedure saved you alot of fruit! She looked super close on her last appearance 😁

Yep I have them in a cupboard at home but my current grow happened by accident 🤣 so next round may be the one 🤞
Yep this is the only bud I've ever smoked and felt like I was on ecstasy so some nervous paranoia fits in with that 👍 this high could make you hallucinate so it's more recreational.

Hello all.

It's Flip 30 for the Phase II girls and all is well.

As expected, the 2 Fat Kid's Cakes continue to drop their lower shag leaves that exist in the shadows.

And the little Godberry continues to impress!

They're going to get fed today. Again, 5g of MaxiBloom with 3.5ml of calmag - easy peazy!

---------------------------

So as promised, I must reveal what happened to the Blue Cindy, who came to a tragic end.

The short version, that damn bloom booster and I -- in tandem -- fucked her up!

You may recall that the BC was the only plant to fully empty her reservoir of the entire dosage of bloom booster (GH's KoolBloom). The other 2 plants only got to drink about 1/2 of the dosage before I dumped their reservoirs.

The BC didn't react well and her fans turned brown and somewhat crispy. I mistakenly thought that the damage I was seeing in those first few days following the dosage was going to be as bad as things got. But they got worse. Soon all of her leaves were screwed to the point where I removed them all. Then I got the bright idea of droughting her for a little while. I let her sit for 3 days without water (huge mistake, especially I think due to her lack of leaves).

By the time I watered her again she was a crispy critter. Then life happened and for some reason I let her sit for another 2 days before checking on her again. Well she must have drank that water I gave her quick and in a hurry. By the time I got back to her she was so crunchy it was like she had be thrown into a deep fryer!

Lacking any good ideas, I just chopped her down, paper-bagged her and stuck her in the fridge.

I screwed the pooch.

I know this will never become a smokable plant but I'm holding out hope that she'll still smash well.

Under the scope, she does not look like a total loss but I'm sure most insurance companies would deem her as such.

As the old saying goes, "Into each life a little bloom booster must fall."
